A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1420: Chapter 1420: Not Believing

At the pool, Kong Lizhen noticed that Mu Yan seemed upset. She came out of the water, took a towel, draped it over herself, and walked over to her side, asking, ”Yanyan, what’s wrong?”

Mu Yan looked at her and shook her head, ”Nothing.”

Kong Lizhen didn’t believe her, but seeing she obviously had something on her mind, she didn’t press further.

”Come on, Yanyan, let’s go swimming. The water temperature is just right; it’s pretty comfortable.”

Mu Yan smiled at her and said, ”I can’t swim.”

”It’s okay, godmother will teach you.”

”It’s better not.”

Kong Lizhen insisted, ”No one is born knowing everything. Don’t be afraid.”

Mu Yan hesitated for a moment but agreed.

It had been a long time since she last swam, and when she first got in the water, she still felt a bit scared.

However, looking at Kong Lizhen’s encouraging eyes, she vaguely seemed to see another person smiling at her.

She took a deep breath and got into the water.

The water level wasn’t high, so she didn’t have to worry about it going over her head, but in her mind, the scene from that winter flashed, when she accidentally fell into the water.

She was terrified at the time, floundering in the water, crying and shouting for help.

Mom stood on the shore, terrified, not knowing how to swim, but she finally jumped in to save her.

If it weren’t for a kind person who rescued them, they might have drowned.

Seeing her in a daze, Kong Lizhen asked, ”Yanyan, are you worried about something?”

Mu Yan snapped out of it and met Kong Lizhen’s concerned eyes. She smiled, ”No, it’s just that I remembered some past events. Don’t laugh at me, godmother, I’m actually a little afraid of water.”

”What’s there to laugh about? I used to be afraid of water too.” Kong Lizhen looked nonchalant.

Mu Yan thought she was just comforting her and smiled slightly, not saying anything.

Knowing she didn’t believe it, Kong Lizhen explained, ”I’m not joking with you. Because I was afraid of water before, I almost lost my daughter. So I vowed to learn to swim. That way, if she ever fell into the water again, I could save her.”

Hearing her say this, Mu Yan couldn’t help but feel moved.

She hadn’t been a mother yet, but she knew the most selfless thing in the world is a mother’s love.

For her child, a mother can really become a superhero.

Knowing she lost her most precious daughter, Mu Yan comforted her, ”Godmother, don’t be too sad. Your child will meet a good mother like you in the next life too.”

Kong Lizhen’s expression suddenly became complex. Seeing Mu Yan’s sincere eyes, she hesitated, remained silent for a while, then said, ”Godmother is not sad because godmother has you now.”

Mu Yan smiled at her, ”Yeah, I’m godmother’s little cotton jacket now too.”

Even though Mu Yan was afraid of water, under Kong Lizhen’s guidance, she quickly picked up a few tricks and started to swim decently.

But she hadn’t eaten much in the morning, and soon she started feeling tired.

Kong Lizhen didn’t force her, letting her go to the shore to rest.

Mu Yan lay on the deck chair and instinctively picked up her phone to take a look. He still hadn’t sent a single message.

She immediately felt bitter. She hadn’t even questioned him, and yet he was ignoring her, not giving any explanation. Even if he cheated, does he have to be so justified?

Mu Yan gritted her teeth, utterly despising her own spinelessness. Even now, she still believed in his innocence.

She casually opened Weibo and saw a statement that Song Yan had just released.
