A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 809: Chapter 809: Finalized!

Ruan Xinyu was quite satisfied with the Jiang Family’s dowry and handed the documents to her husband.

She looked at Yin Manqing and said, ”Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, isn’t this dowry a bit too much?”

”Not at all,” Yin Manqing replied with a smile, ”I was worried it might not be enough. This was prepared quite hastily, after all. Our Jing Heng is lucky to marry such a wonderful bride like Yanyan.”

No matter how much courtesy was in Yin Manqing’s words, the Zhuang Family members seemed more pleased. Who wouldn’t want their daughter to be valued by her husband’s family?

The generous dowry also showed their sincere intention to marry.

Zhuang Zeyang looked through it and then handed the documents to Zhuang Shaoyang.

Zhuang Shaoyang sneered at the dowry, as if he couldn’t afford it himself.

He felt these people wanted to buy his daughter with money, and his face instantly turned stern.

Don’t think he can’t handle them after the marriage. Just as he was about to speak, Mrs. Zhuang started talking.

”The dowry amount doesn’t matter to us. Ultimately, the happiness of the two children is most important. Now, it’s time to talk about the wedding. We Zhuang Family can’t be vague when marrying our daughter.”

Yin Manqing quickly responded, ”Of course, once back in Upper City, I will start preparing for the wedding.”

Ruan Xinyu followed up, ”Our Nuannuan has had a hard life; her mother is no longer here. She is young and might not understand the customs well, so Mother-in-law, please look after her. If there is anything that requires help, feel free to tell me. I consider her as my daughter and care for her.”

Yin Manqing looked at this group from the Zhuang Family with some interest, noticing that Mu Yan’s father and stepmother seemed incapable of making decisions, whereas the aunt treated her with much concern.

No wonder, in a world with stepmothers, there are also stepfathers. Mu Yan is quite lucky in this regard.

”Since sister-in-law said that, I won’t stand on ceremony when the time comes.” Yin Manqing said with a smile.

The elders were talking back and forth, leaving no room for Mu Yan and Jiang Jingheng to speak.

The two exchanged a knowing glance, realizing that this marriage had a heavier significance, extending beyond their personal feelings, symbolizing a deeper bond between the two families.

Of course, the most awkward couple had to be Zhuang Shaoyang and Liang Rong, as no one seemed to care about their opinions from start to finish.

Once the conversation winded down, the Zhuang Family invited Yin Manqing and Jiang Zhenghong’s couple to stay over for a meal.

The Jiang Family and Zhuang Family had longstanding ties. Even without a marital bond, it was only natural for the Zhuang Family to host the Jiang Family during their visit to Beijing.

Jiang Zhenghong’s couple didn’t refuse. After lunch, the men went to the study for some games, while the women stayed in the living room for casual chats.

Seeing so many people, Ruan Xinyu felt chatting alone was a bit boring, thus she suggested playing Mahjong.

Mrs. Zhuang was one participant, Yin Manqing was another, Liang Rong the third, and the last spot was originally meant for Ruan Xinyu, but she insisted on having Mu Yan play instead.

”Why have three members of the same family at a Mahjong table? You come and play with your mother-in-law, that’s more fair.” Ruan Xinyu pushed Mu Yan towards the seat.

Mu Yan felt slightly embarrassed, ”I don’t know how to play this.”

”It’s okay, as long as you have money to lose,” Mrs. Zhuang joked.

Yin Manqing chimed in, ”If you don’t have enough money, ask Jing Heng to bring you some. How can a wife play Mahjong without capital?”

Mu Yan glanced at her; if not for knowing her past actions, she might genuinely think she was a considerate mother-in-law.

She smiled and said, ”All right, just don’t mind if I’m slow.”

”We’re just playing for fun, so it’s fine,” Liang Rong added.
