Reborn in the 1970s — Married a Proud Rough Man

Chapter 116: Chapter 53: The Courtyard is Mom’s

”If you’re fine, why would you throw up for no reason?” Mrs. Xie didn’t believe her and wanted to check on her.

Qin Mei took a deep breath and said, ”Mom, I’m really fine. I just feel nauseous.”

”Nauseous? Why would you suddenly feel nauseous? What did you see?” Mrs. Xie asked with concern.

Qin Mei instinctively looked at Jie Jingchen. It wasn’t what she saw, but what she thought of—the Sun family’s outhouse. ’Stop, stop, I can’t think about it anymore.’

Qin Mei raised a hand, closed her eyes, and rubbed her temples.

Mrs. Xie followed Qin Mei’s gaze to Jie Jingchen, raised an eyebrow, and asked in a low voice, ”What did you do?”

Jie Jingchen’s expression was foul. He was in a gloomy mood, his thin lips pressed tight as he exuded a chilling, hostile air.

Qin Mei opened her eyes and looked at Mrs. Xie with a smile. ”Mom, I’m fine now.”

”Really fine?” Mrs. Xie was still worried. Seeing Qin Mei nod, she finally breathed a sigh of relief. She shot her son a glare and patted Qin Mei’s shoulder. ”You two get some good rest at home for the next few days.”

Qin Mei thought about the day’s events. Father Xu was locked up, Mother Xu was released, and Xu Chunwang was in the hospital. Xu Chunyan was busy now, with no time to come settle the score with her. But she wouldn’t be busy forever. As long as they were in the Jie Family home, getting any real rest would be difficult.

”Don’t you worry about the Xu family’s affairs. Leave them to me,” Mrs. Xie said, knowing what was on her mind. ”For the next few days, they’ll be staying at the Xu family home with Jie You.”

Qin Mei was stunned. The ”they” Mrs. Xie mentioned was obviously Jie Jingwei and Xu Chunyan. Staying at the Xu family home, and with Jie You, too. Qin Mei looked at Jie Jingchen.

’He and his mother must have done something.’ Otherwise, with Xu Chunyan’s temper, she would have absolutely come home to raise hell.

She had dislocated Xu Chunwang’s jaw, and her mother-in-law had crippled him. Liu Guihua hadn’t gained any advantage and had ended up injured. Father Xu came to the Jie Family home, not only failing in his wish to cripple Jie Jingchen but getting outmaneuvered by him instead. Now he was locked up at the police station. After the Xu family had suffered such a huge loss, how could Xu Chunyan possibly stand for it?

Mrs. Xie didn’t say much more. Her gaze fell on Jie Jingchen as she said, ”Your Third Brother and Third Sister-in-law won’t be coming back for a few days either.”

”I know. They’re going to Third Sister-in-law’s parents’ house to stay with Xiao Duo for a few days,” Jie Jingchen said. He already knew about this.

Hearing this, Qin Mei’s mind started to wander again. ’Do these two brothers have to be so coincidental? If Jie Jinghun hadn’t already decided to go to Shen Qing’s parents’ house to stay with his daughter for a few days, I would have suspected he was on the same side as Jie Jingwei.’

Mrs. Xie went back inside. Qin Mei looked up at the sky.

”Let’s go back inside.” Jie Jingchen gently pushed Qin Mei’s shoulder.

Lowering her gaze, Qin Mei stared at Jie Jingchen and said, ”Jie Jingchen, I predict that tomorrow, the neighbors won’t be talking about my miscarriage. They’ll be talking about me taking over the nest.”

”What nonsense are you thinking? Taking over what nest? Don’t imagine things.” Jie Jingchen took her by the wrist and led her back inside.

Being led by the hand, Qin Mei gazed at Jie Jingchen’s profile, which radiated a mesmerizing charm. She was lost in a daze for a moment.

’If Jie Jingchen were to use his good looks on me, my weak will would definitely give in.’

’What a shame!’ Qin Mei’s eyes fixed on his waist. ’I’m afraid he’s willing in spirit but weak in the flesh.’

They slept in the same bed. Qin Mei was very confident in her own looks and figure; she didn’t believe for a second that he had no designs on her.

”Jie Jingchen,” Qin Mei called out.

”Mm,” Jie Jingchen answered.

”Jie Jingchen.” Qin Mei glanced around, blinked, and said, ”I actually do have some ideas about taking over the nest.”

Hearing this, Jie Jingchen stumbled and stopped, looking down at Qin Mei. ”What did you say?”

Qin Mei stroked her chin. Thinking of the astronomically expensive courtyard houses of later generations, a glint appeared in her eyes. She whispered, ”Jie Jingchen, let me tell you a secret. From the moment I stepped into this courtyard, I fell in love with it. I’m even greedy enough to want to take it for my own.”

Jie Jingchen remained silent, his eyes flickering as he looked down at her. The corners of his mouth curved into a pleased smile.

Seeing that Jie Jingchen wasn’t angry, Qin Mei felt a thrill of mischief and pressed on, ”Your Second Brother and his wife, and your Third Brother and his wife are all living at their mothers-in-law’s houses with their kids. Next, we should get Jie Jingjue and Jie Jingshan to move out, and then Mom and Dad. Hehe, in the end, it’ll just be us left. Hahaha, it makes me happy just thinking about it.”

The fact that he was included in those ”left” sent ripples through Jie Jingchen’s heart. He reminded her, ”Third Brother and Third Sister-in-law are only staying at her parents’ house with Xiao Duo for a few days.”

’As for how long Second Brother and his wife will stay at the Xu family home with Jie You, that depends on Mom. This time, the Xu family has truly and utterly infuriated her.’
