Chapter 223: Chapter 199: Manipulating Airflow

Qin Ziwen went to its side.

Once he was on the Beaked Eagle’s back, it seemed to understand his intent. It spread its wings, and in the next moment, Qin Ziwen felt a powerful sense of weightlessness.

The Beaked Eagle carried him into the sky.

Compared to its struggle last time, the Beaked Eagle was clearly having a much easier time.

The wind howled in his ears, but he felt hardly any airflow.

As they ascended, getting farther and farther from the ground, Qin Ziwen subconsciously leaned over and gripped the feathers on the Beaked Eagle’s back.

The Beaked Eagle’s feathers were stiff, and the vanes were thick.

As they continued to climb, the surrounding temperature dropped rapidly. Fortunately, the cold air currents were kept at bay, so aside from the drop in temperature, nothing else felt out of the ordinary.

Not far away, a few Winged Dragons circled in the sky. They had spotted the Beaked Eagle but only circled from a distance, not daring to approach.

The Beaked Eagle wanted to charge over and fight them, but Qin Ziwen hastily stopped it.

”Don’t go! I’m still on your back.”

The Beaked Eagle let out a cry and then lowered its altitude.

Only then was Qin Ziwen in the mood to observe his surroundings.

Below him, a huge lake was nestled between several hills. The lake was at the lowest point, its shores lush with vegetation. The farther from the lake, the harsher the environment became.

A small, winding river stretched to the north.

Looking northward, an immense, snow-capped mountain stood at the northern horizon. The river flowed from the direction of that mountain.

The Beaked Eagle landed on the ground.

Many members of the expedition team cast envious glances their way.

’That bird can actually carry a person!’

’Doesn’t that make it invincible?’

Wang Sheng walked over and stood behind Cao Biansheng. ”Your Chairman’s bird is really something, huh? It can even kill a Duck-billed Beast. Are you guys still recruiting?”

Cao Biansheng glanced at him. ”You want to join too? I thought you liked being in the Student Union.”

At the mention of this, Wang Sheng’s expression turned resentful. ”What do you mean, I *like* being in the Student Union? Cao Biansheng, there’s a problem with your attitude! We’re all one group from the same Gated Community, all in the same boat. Are you trying to split up the group?”

Cao Biansheng chuckled. That was indeed something a slick person like him would say.

Before they transmigrated, Wang Sheng was the vice-chairman of the school’s Student Union.

He was a smooth-talker, adept at handling all sorts of people.

He was very good at managing relationships with teachers and classmates.

Cao Biansheng said, ”What would you even do if you came? The requirements for our core Hunting Team are high. You wouldn’t be able to get in.”

”It’s not like only the core Hunting Team can serve everyone.” Wang Sheng’s eyes darted around, and then he gave a sly grin. ”Actually, I can sense what Old Luo is thinking. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have let you join the Qin Alliance.”

Cao Biansheng didn’t respond.

Wang Sheng continued, ”Don’t worry, this is what everyone’s thinking too. Based on the divine might Chairman Qin’s giant eagle showed today, the guys are probably all on his side now. It won’t be a problem.”

Cao Biansheng glanced at him and said, ”What are you really trying to say?”

”I want to bring the guys over to pledge allegiance to the Qin Alliance,” Wang Sheng leaned in and said in a low voice.

Cao Biansheng’s brows furrowed for a moment, then relaxed. He said to Wang Sheng, ”Go and tell Chairman Qin yourself.”

”No way. The credit for this is too big for me to take all by myself. It’s just right for the two of us.” Wang Sheng teased, ”You don’t think this makes you a traitor for betraying Old Luo, do you? You’re part of the Qin Alliance now, after all.”

”What nonsense are you talking about?” Cao Biansheng said coldly. ”If I go with you, in what capacity would I be going? As a member of the Qin Alliance, or as a member of the Student Union? If it’s for the Qin Alliance, there’s no need for me to show up. And I certainly can’t go as part of the Student Union.”

Wang Sheng shook his head. He thought Cao Biansheng was too rigid.

’Forget it, forget it. I’ll just go by myself.’

Meanwhile, after Qin Ziwen got off the Beaked Eagle, he attracted the attention of many animals in the Oasis.

Qin Ziwen felt they were too conspicuous, so he led the Beaked Eagle away from the crowd to a more secluded spot.

Du Yu followed beside them. He was also curious about the Beaked Eagle now that it had broken through to the Extraordinary realm.

Especially since the Beaked Eagle had broken through to the Third Gear, a level he himself had never reached.

Qin Ziwen asked, ”You can control airflow now. To what extent?”

The Beaked Eagle’s large, dark eyes blinked, as if it were seriously analyzing its master’s words.

Seeing its dazed look, Qin Ziwen blew a few puffs of air in its face.

”This. Air. Airflow.”

The Beaked Eagle had a sudden realization. Now it understood.

It tilted its head, and a faint cyan light flashed through its dark pupils.

It gave an imperceptible flap of its wings, and the airflow around it was drawn in.

Grains of sand and bits of gravel on the ground floated up out of nowhere, as if an invisible force was lifting them.

As this force grew, the yellow sand formed a spiraling, pale-yellow silhouette in the air, outlining the shape of the airflow.

The Beaked Eagle tilted its head again, and the sand, as if pressed down by a formless hand, sank back to the ground with a soft RUSTLE.

”How about the strongest wind? Let’s see it!” Du Yu grew excited, rolling up his sleeves.

The next second, a gale rose from thin air. Du Yu’s hair and clothes billowed out violently. His body dipped slightly as he took half a step back to steady himself.

”The ability to control wind... is this the special trait of a Tier Three Extraordinary?” Du Yu remarked with awe.

Qin Ziwen explained, ”It’s not wind, it’s airflow. Airflow is a broader category. Wind is just one specific manifestation of it.”

Du Yu nodded thoughtfully.

Qin Ziwen said, ”But the airflow the Beaked Eagle can control right now is still very weak. It can’t even blow a person away. It seems it can only play a supporting role.”

Du Yu shook his head. ”No, Sir, it’s already very powerful. An ordinary person might have been blown over just now. In a battle, if you’re constantly being affected by airflow, you’d be highly skilled just to use sixty percent of your strength. Moreover, just by manipulating the airflow, Crossbow Arrows are completely countered.”

’It would be great if this Superpower was mine instead.’

’Giving it to this dumb bird... it probably won’t even figure out enough ways to use it.’

’Right, the Duck-billed Dragon is dead. There are probably Cards it dropped in the lake. I wonder how many it dropped.’

According to the difficulty calculation on the Hunting Celestial List, you need to hunt five Duck-billed Dragons, whereas you only need to hunt three Giant Sandwurms.

Judging by the difficulty, hunting the Giant Sandwurm is slightly harder.

But the Duck-billed Dragon killed this time was the leader of its pack, stronger than an ordinary one.

Thinking of this, Qin Ziwen grabbed the Beaked Eagle’s talons, letting it carry him toward the center of the lake. ”Let’s go, to the middle of the lake.”

”Chairman Qin~!” Wang Sheng came running just in time to see Qin Ziwen being carried away by the Beaked Eagle. Watching their retreating figures, he slapped his thigh in frustration. He was too slow.

In the middle of the lake, the Beaked Eagle released its talons. Qin Ziwen fell with a SPLASH and dived under the water.

There at the bottom of the lake, he saw a massive, dark corpse lying still. Floating directly above the body were three Cards.
