Divine Emperor of Heavenly Destiny

At the same time, the members of the Saint Bone Su Family stared, dumbfounded, at Elder Lady Su.

She’d just sent Granny Yun flying with a slap, and now she was going to apologize?

But many of them fell silent. For the Saint Bone Su Family, anyone who could awaken a Saint Bone was the future pillar of the Su Family—an existence that everyone had to bow to and worship.

The faces of all those who had just mocked Lu Chao and Cheng Yunsu gradually turned grim, and they seethed with extreme anger and indignation.

’Of all the illegitimate children, and even those from the direct lineage, how could it be her?’

Elder Lady Su, having spoken, now ignored Granny Yun and immediately turned to look at Lu Chao and the others.

She forced a smile and spoke in the gentlest voice she could muster, ”You’re Lu Chao, correct? What happened just now was all Ah Yun’s fault. She shouldn’t have assumed you had ulterior motives.”

A moment ago, Elder Lady Su had been too proud to back down, no matter what.

Even after recalling that Marquis Jilong stood behind Lu Chao, she had remained condescending. But now, her attitude had done a complete one-eighty, and she was even apologizing.

Of course...

Her apology consisted of shifting all the blame onto Granny Yun. It was all Granny Yun’s fault.

In truth, Elder Lady Su was secretly seething with frustration.

But she had no choice. Who the hell would have thought Cheng Yunsu would awaken? Both Cheng Chuming and his daughter had just been too pathetic.

And even if Cheng Yunsu had truly awakened, as the Elder Lady, she wouldn’t normally have to stoop so low. The main issue was... Cheng Yunsu had awakened directly, without undergoing any kind of perception ritual.

What did this mean?

It meant her talent was terrifying, and her bloodline was even more so.

After her Saint Bone Awakening, not only would her status skyrocket, but her Martial Arts Talent would soar as well. She could very well become the strongest Saint Bone in the history of the Saint Bone Su Family. No one in history had ever awakened without needing the perception ritual!

Lu Chao looked at Elder Lady Su and fell silent.

After observing Cheng Yunsu for a moment, he finally replied, ”Elder Lady Su, I think it would be better if you didn’t apologize.”

Elder Lady Su’s expression instantly stiffened.

’Lu Chao’s attitude is still so hostile. Is he still angry?’

’That bastard. Does he think I’m just pushing all the blame onto Ah Yun, and that’s why he’s unhappy?’

She secretly gritted her teeth...

Elder Lady Su forced another smile. ”Young Chao, I will do everything in my power to help rescue your father-in-law, you can rest assured. I will treat your wife as my own granddaughter, and your father-in-law as well.”

She felt she had to give Lu Chao a huge promise. The boy’s temper was just too foul.

But for her to apologize personally was still impossible.

However, Lu Chao was speechless. He replied softly again, ”Elder Lady Su, I think you...”

”It doesn’t matter what you think. The matter is settled.”

Elder Lady Su cut him off immediately, refusing to let Lu Chao’s foul temper continue. Then, her face turned cold as she barked, ”Ah Yun, get over here right now and apologize to Young Chao.”

Granny Yun was still clutching her face, her eyes wide and her cheeks flushed red.

But under Elder Lady Su’s glare, she could only force herself to walk over, trembling as she said, ”I’m sorry, Master Lu.”

Lu Chao frowned again...

Seeing this, Elder Lady Su barked again, ”Last time, you were about to whip Young Chao. Kneel and apologize.”

In that instant, Granny Yun almost exploded...

But she didn’t dare resist. She could only obediently kneel before Lu Chao and force out the words, ”I’m sorry, Master Lu. It was all my fault.”

Granny Yun knew the Elder Lady would never admit her own mistake, so she had to take all the blame.

Lu Chao looked completely exasperated, and just as he was about to say something else... WHOOSH!

The white light around Cheng Yunsu suddenly vanished. The aura of her Saint Bone also disappeared in an instant, leaving no trace.

In the blink of an eye, she had returned to her pre-awakened state.

This scene left Elder Lady Su stunned. The kneeling Granny Yun’s eyes went wide, and the surrounding onlookers were utterly bewildered.

On the ceremonial altar, one of the Su Family Elders asked, ”What’s going on? Why did the awakening stop?”

The Elders were all very familiar with what an awakening looked like. Once a Saint Bone awakened, its aura should only grow stronger. For the Saint Bone aura to suddenly vanish meant it had been interrupted—something completely unheard of.

Lu Chao ignored them and quickly turned to Cheng Yunsu, asking, ”Are you okay?”

Shaking her head, Cheng Yunsu said, ”It didn’t affect me. After my bloodline began to boil, it touched my Beast Bone, and then it disappeared.”

Hearing this, Lu Chao let out a soft sigh of relief. As long as she wasn’t affected, it was fine.

As for the Saint Bone aura’s sudden interruption and disappearance, that was within his expectations.

’What likely happened was... Cheng Yunsu’s own bloodline is extremely powerful, so it automatically began to boil under the influence of the Saint Bone Ceremony. But when the boiling bloodline rushed toward her Heavenly Destiny Bone, it found that her original Heavenly Destiny Bone had already been shattered.’

’The Beast Bone is just a foreign object, so the awakening was automatically aborted.’

Prompted by Cheng Yunsu’s words, Elder Lady Su finally reacted. ”What did you just say? What Beast Bone?”

Hearing this, Lu Chao quickly pulled Cheng Yunsu behind him...

He looked at Elder Lady Su. ”I just told you it would be better not to apologize to us. That’s because Xiao Su’er’s original Heavenly Destiny Bone was shattered long ago. She’s just using a Beast Bone as a replacement now.”

His voice rolled clearly across the entire area...

Instantly, every member of the Saint Bone Su Family was left gaping. A Beast Bone replacement?

”Xiao Su’er also said earlier that there was no need for her to undergo the Saint Bone perception, because it was impossible for her to awaken successfully.”

Lu Chao continued to explain, ”It’s just that neither I nor Xiao Su’er expected her bloodline to actually start to awaken and boil under your Saint Bone Ceremony.”

Now, Elder Lady Su understood. She had heard him loud and clear.

She began to tremble uncontrollably. Elder Lady Su’s old fists clenched subconsciously, her entire face turning crimson.

She finally couldn’t hold it in any longer and roared, ”Why didn’t you say so earlier?!”

She nearly coughed up a mouthful of blood from sheer rage.

’This is such a scam! A complete and utter scam! She awakened, but damn it all, she doesn’t have a Heavenly Destiny Bone to use!’

’Damn it, isn’t this just messing with people?!’

In response, Lu Chao remained firmly in front of Cheng Yunsu and replied, ”I made it very clear from the beginning. We weren’t here to participate in the Saint Bone Ceremony. I also made it clear that there was no need to perceive the Saint Bone.”

”Was I supposed to tell everyone I meet, ’My wife is using a Beast Bone as a replacement; my wife’s Heavenly Destiny Bone is shattered’?”

Although Lu Chao had indeed said these things, and had even emphasized them more than once.

He had also said that Elder Lady Su shouldn’t apologize...

But Elder Lady Su completely snapped. The Su Family Elders and the others also lost their minds. The still-kneeling Granny Yun touched the cheek that the Elder Lady had slapped, recalling her recent apology.

BOOM—

Granny Yun’s True Qi erupted from her body with a BOOM. Her face twisted in a mask of fury as she shrieked, ”I’m going to kill you.”

’I knelt for nothing, apologized for nothing, and got slapped, all for nothing!’
