Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 690: Chapter 690 - What about me? (Part 1)

Darth continued to quietly follow behind me even after exiting the dining hall doors. He consciously kept his distance, just a couple of steps behind me. He was quiet, more like a deflated balloon actually as if all that glaring and anger from the dining hall was just an illusion.

We continued walking quietly through the corridors, up the hidden flight of stairs until we reach my personal quarters. I invited him to the drawing room and asked him to sit comfortably. As for myself, I sat a few seats away from him on a side opposite where he was sitting.

Since we just had a filling breakfast, I did not bother to offer him any snacks or refreshments and went straight to the issue at hand. I looked at him calmly and asked, ”So, what do you want to tell me earlier that is so important that you had to make a scene at the dining hall?”

The direct question seemed to have surprised him as I saw Darth’s shoulders jump a bit. He looked up and held eye contact for a few seconds before looking away then murmuring, ”I just have a few questions for you. I hope you answer them honestly.”

I nodded my head followed by a short response of ”Mm-Hmm”. He inhaled deeply as if steeling himself for what’s ahead and asked, ”Did you purposely knock me out a few days ago?”

I stared at him, no emotions showing in any part of my face. He looked at me nervously. Since I promised to answer honestly, I nodded to confirm his assumption. His eyes widened and immediately asked, ”Why do you have to do that? Do you think that I will stop you from marrying that jerk?”

I used my hand and propped my chin, taking some sort of a thinking pose. My face that looked serious awhile ago slowly bloomed into a smile as I replied, ”I did that since you have a high fever so you can sleep with no nightmares. As for the second question, I think you are too prideful to do that so I never thought about ithat possibility. Since you said it though, I guess you actually thought about doing it then, didn’t you?”

He immediately said, ”No! I did not! I would never... I...” His face even blushed as I teased him. I couldn’t help but chuckle in which I was immediately scolded by a ”Don’t laugh! Nothing’s funny!”

I covered my mouth to suppress my laughter as I redirected the conversation back to serious matters. I asked if he has other questions for me. He nodded and asked, ”Did you go inside my consciousness? It is just that I have started to have a very strong feeling of wanting to be near you all the time like an obsessed person which is really weird.”

I then told him that when he passed out in the forest, the same day of my wedding, I carried him on my back so I can return to the temple with him. I also admitted that I felt that he was suffering somewhere in his mind so I went inside to soothe him. I also told him honestly that I saw a smaller version of himself who was crying while being constantly tormented by voices saying evil and demeaning things. Finally, I said that I took away his mini-self away from that dark and noisy place which maybe the reason why he suddenly felt a closeness towards me.

I explained as honestly and as earnestly as I could, not leaving anything I did when I entered his consciousness. Instead of more questions, surprisingly, I heard a chuckle from his end. He then said in that cold voice he used the first time I met him, ”You are quite good with your choice of words. Why does it seem like you trying to keep a distance from me as if everything that is happening to my body does not concern you?”

I looked away, feigning ignosrance as I replied submissively, ”I don’t know what you are talking about. What is it that you want to say really?”

With a voice that sounded like he was keeping his agitation in check, he added, ”What I am saying is that it all boils down to the fact that there is a symbol that appeared on top of my womb after everything you did. You marked me, didn’t you? And before you use those flowery words again on me, I want to tell you that I don’t care if you did it on purpose or not.”

I knew that dealing with this guy will never be easy and now that the mark of a vessel actually appeared on him, I don’t have a way to escape this confrontation, didn’t I? I am sure he has seen documents about this mark being someone from the original line of priests ”blessed” by that gallivanting great grand aunt of mine.

I sighed at his direct comments, looked away and replied bluntly, ”So, what do you want me to do? I just got married and I will be leaving by tomorrow morning for my immersion task from the academe. And, it is not like I touched you inappropriately. I can ask my people to find a way to get rid of the mark if it bothers you that much.”

After speaking, I waited for him to respond but even after more than a minute, I did not receive any. I reluctantly looked back towards his face and saw a surprising scene. He was silently crying, tears falling relentlesly down his face, his eyes full of hurt and betrayal as if I robbed him of everything he had.

For some reason, I felt a sudden hint of panic, wanting him not to cry anymore. I stood up and walked towards where he was and stopped right in front of him. He slowly looked up, with his red and puffy eyes still looking like an abandoned kitten drenched in the rain on some side of the road.
