Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 672: Chapter 672 - It was like a game of chess

Hearing my explanation about everything that had transpired, I saw Clarence make a sigh of relief then his face changed into a smug one as he looked at Darth. On the other hand, Darth totally ignored his presence, not even making the effort to look at Clarence even for a second.

I raised one of my eyebrows while looking at Darth and listening to everything he was saying patiently. I turned my head and looked at the pope for confirmation. The old man simply sighed then nodded his head weakly, indicating that everything that the young man had just said was actually the truth.

I smiled sweetly and replied, ”I am not part of the church at that time though and you don’t expect me to know all of these rules. I am also a doctor by profession and it gives me permission to touch my male patients as long as it is for completing treatment. As for carrying you, it is not like you were naked at that time or I took advantage of you in any way so what is there for me to take responsibility for? I did not know that you prefer sleeping in the outdoors and on the cold ground. Are you perhaps blaming me for healing you? I can blind you again if you want to stay that way.”

Darth looked at me with widened eyes. It was a mix of surprise and a hint of a look that says ”Are you crazy or something?”

I wanted to laugh but I am in the middle of a negotiation so it is inappropriate. I continued looking calm and cold while waiting for Darth to reply.

He was staring at me but I know that the cogs of his brain are already working double time to think of ways to get a hold on me. As for his reasons, it might be so that he can hold his position in the church or maybe to even protect himself. Another reason might be just to spite Clarence to death which I think he seem to have always had fun doing while they were growing up.

I am so curious about his reasons that the question in my head left my mouth as quickly as I thought about it. I asked Darth directly. ”We barely know each other so where does this offer for marriage come from?” Darth looked at me with an innocent face and replied, ”I liked you when I first met you, that is even before I saw how you looked like.”

Clarence interjected angrily, ”That is a lie! He hates everybody regardless of gender! He only likes himself!”

Oh my. I really want to laugh so badly.

For the first time since he came to my office, Darth slowly turned his head to look at Clarence as he said with a cold voice, ”I do not hate everybody. I am just what you call ”reserved type” of person and you annoy me with your presence so it is only you that I dislike. Hate is such a strong word but I do not expect you to get the difference between dislike and hate since you are dumb.”

Oh no! Another feisty one! I couldn’t help but remember Ioannis’ and Marius’ feistiness on this one.

I said nonchalantly, ”I need the truth, Darth.” Hearing my cold voice, Darth’s shoulders jumped as he turned his head to look at me again.

He looked nervous as he replied, ”You healed me so I thought you are at least interested in me even by just a little bit. I did not lie when I said I like you. And... who doesn’t want to be chosen as a partner by the saintess? And... yeah, I want to annoy this one to death.”

Darth pointed at Clarence and he even had a mocking smile on his face. He then said that he already heard about the conditions I have set before I took the position of ”saintess” and he said. He added that he agrees with everything I planned and is willing to help me with the best of his abilities whether he is the pope or not. I guess he is going for the ”supportive and understanding” husband type.

Well, Clarence’s resonance with me is at 88 and unfortunately for him. Darth’s resonance with me is at 95. I do not really understand how fate works but I guess that this has to do with him being from the original family line of the first pope. Now the question is, ”What am I going to do with this situation?”

To just calm the situation down, I spoke in a nonchalant manner, ”I came here to marry Clarence though. What would I get for marrying you when I already have a husband connected to the church anyways?”

Darth looked at me with a serious face as he said, ”I agree with the changes that you want to do in the organization and I can help you make it happen. That other husband of yours can just focus on serving you in bed and making babies since those are the only things running in his mind. I will do the real work in the background instead and I would most likely be the next pope too since there are only two candidates anyway.”

I finally looked seriously at Darth, closely observing his movements, how he looks, how he speaks and how he carries himself. He honestly does not look bad at all, way above the human standards of looks. He is in priest garbs alright but he has that feeling of being a ”bad boy” than a ”goody two shoes” type.

A smile slowly showed on to my face as I replied, ”I guess you have to prove yourself to me first. As for marrying, let us talk about it when the time comes. It won’t be fair to this guy over here if I just marry another person together with him. I am not saying this just because it is you. It applies to anybody that wants to have a relationship with me while I am here. I am sure that you are not the only one thinking ”it would be great if I am chosen or blessed by the saintess” in this place anyways.”
