Inheriting a Lost Bloodline, My First Task is to have heirs?!

Chapter 655: Chapter 655 - The first meal as an official part of the duchy (Part 1)

We reached the dining hall after about 15 minutes which was way too long if you ask me. Caius deliberately moved very slowly while bathing and dressing up then he even walked as slow as a snail once we are out of the room. His whole being was just exuding a lot of his unwillingness to attend the breakfast with his own parents.

As we appeared at the dining room hall, I immediately sported a smile on my face as I greeted my parents-in-law an energetic ”good morning”. I even called them ”mother” and ”father” willingly for the first time which made the couple obviously happy. On the other hand, their grumpy son didn’t bother to greet them though. He just looked at them once and then he sat wordlessly on his assigned seat next to mine.

I looked at Caius in exasperation but did not dare to berate him in front of others since there are other staff present besides his parents in the dining hall. I nodded then smiled awkwardly at my parents-in-law and explained that Caius did not want to get out of bed earlier thus this rude behavior now. I apologized on his behalf as well and told them to not mind him one bit. The couple gave me a knowing look and they smiled dotingly instead as they looked at me and then back at their son.

For my official appearance today, I made sure that I looked neat and presentable since I have an image to uphold in this new household that I am now a member of. As for the man of this household, my husband, it was quite the opposite. He picked a simple set of home clothing which looked more like a robe and he barely combed his hair after drying it up with a towel. His clothes are a bit showy as his whole neck and even a part of his chest was exposed for everyone to see.

There is nothing wrong with showing off a man’s chest since I’ve seen men in the northern camps without shirts during training or bathing in the rivers. The problem was almost every inch of his skin is currently covered with hickies from yours truly.

When we started preparing for this breakfast earlier, he vehemently disagreed for any healing spells to be casted on him and his reasoning was this is proof of our union. For the absence of a better term, I can describe his current look as ”thoroughly fucked but in a good way” so he looked happy and contented earlier. He even had a tinge of a smile on his usually cold face.

Now that we are in the dining hall though, it was as if this activity has ruined every bit of fun for him. His current face is cold but his face wasa healthy pink as if he was nourished well. On the other hand, his lips are obviously swollen from too much kissing.

I had to keep my reaction neutral since he already complained about me wanting to heal him which means I do not want others to see the evidence of what we’ve done together. I never said anything but he already made a whole list of my mistakes after that. He said that he wanted everybody to know that I have taken him in body, heart and soul.

Yeah, he turned out to be poetic and hopelessly romantic when he speaks at times. I just found out about it last night and I had a good laugh about it. My laughter made Caius’ feel embarrassed and wronged for a few hours though.

Before everything can be even weirder and more awkward than it already is, my parents-in-law ordered the staff to start bringing in and serving the food to the table since everyone who is expected to attend the breakfast is already present. The spread of food on the table was quite impressive in terms of the selections of meat, fruits, vegetables, beverages and even desserts. As for the taste, it was better than the ones I have tried before at least.

Due to Caius being obviously not in the mood for any small talk, everyone at the table just focused on eating instead of speaking to each other. It is not that my parents-in-law have not tried to start a conversation but it was just that Caius refused to answer any question or even speak one word to anybody including me.

After finishing the very filling breakfast, I asked for a private meeting with my parents-in-law and Caius in some place else. Their first choice was to guide the main office and study in the estate. I was quite surprised that they would let me enter the place where the duke and duchess handled their confidential documents. I appreciate their trust though.

Once we are inside the study, I casted a soundproofing barrier to avoid anyone from trying to listen in about the contents of our conversation. As to what I would be discussing with them, it will simply be the arrangements I have on my side of the family since I have already adhered with all the customs and traditions from Caius’ side already.

I started with explaining why it took me some time to decide to accept Caius. It was more of a mix of personal reasons and also uncertainty on possible conflicts in the future. I explained that I have other husbands who also were nobles and if I add Caius, the grandson of the leader of the m seeagic tower and a high priest from the Church of Lumienere, it just spells trouble.

They all understood where I was coming from but at the same time, they were also curious as to what changed my mind. I explained that I have met Caius about two years ago when he did a sword dance somewhere in the entertainment district. The couple widened their eyes and looked towards Caius at the same time.

Caius met their eyes with furrowed brows as if asking, ”What?” He coughed and looked away, not bothering to explain his side of the story.

I chuckled and continued my story about me having other human husbands which immediately caught the attention of the duke and duchess. I smiled sheepishly and outright admitted that I am a mystique which made them gasp in surprise.
