”Hm, looks like coming to this auction was the right choice. If I can get that, it’ll make things much easier when I go after Heavenly Flames in the future.”

Xiao Yan’s breathing grew slightly rapid as he stared at the pair of wings with shining eyes. He gave a slight nod in response.

He was very interested in this Dou Technique that could allow him to fly through the skies like a Dou Wang.

After all, he had obtained over ten million gold coins from the Mittel Clan earlier in the Black-Corner Region, so he wasn’t worried about money at all.

At the same time, he felt a faint trace of regret in his heart.

If he had gotten this before the Three-Year Agreement, then he could have flown into the sky to avoid the collision shockwaves from Dou Techniques. He might not have lost to Nalan Yanran back then.

”This thing is interesting. I like it.”

The Young Sect Master of the Blood Sect stared intently at the eerie bat wings that looked as if they might tear themselves free from the jade scroll. He muttered to himself in a low voice.

”Young master, this Flying Dou Technique might end up going for over two million gold coins. If we spend too much here, we might not have enough left to compete for the final few items,” said the pale-faced old man beside Fan Ling in a worried whisper.

”What’s the rush?”

Fan Ling shot the elder a sideways glance and sneered, ”Father made preparations ahead of time. No matter who wins this item, it will end up in our hands. That way, we’ll save a huge amount of money.”

”But that’s not very reliable… And if word leaks, it could become troublesome,” the old man looked around cautiously and said hesitantly.

”I have my own plans, Elder Luo. You don’t need to worry.”

Fan Ling’s gaze remained locked on the wings with interest as he spoke casually.

”Sigh…”

Seeing that persuasion was useless, the elder known as Elder Luo could only let out a helpless sigh. He shook his head and fell silent.

Seeing the growing curiosity in the crowd below, the auctioneer began elaborating excitedly on the Flying Dou Technique’s capabilities.

Those who were still slightly confused at first instantly had their eyes light up with desire the moment they heard that this thing could allow someone to fly even without reaching the Dou Wang level.

Some people, driven mad by greed, even pulled out their weapons as if they were about to charge forward and rob it on the spot.

However, after a specially crafted crossbow bolt slammed into the ground in front of one such person, the crowd sobered up quite a bit.

Meanwhile, in a private room, Lin Feng quietly observed the scene unfolding in the auction hall.

Since none of his acquaintances had any need for it, he had decided to auction the Flying Dou Technique off.

As for his subordinates, with so many Dou Wang under his command, it would be a waste to give a Flying Dou Technique to someone at the Dou Ling or Da Dou Shi levels.

The only ones who might need it were Xue Mei and Lin Fei, who were still far away in the Jia Ma Empire.

Their teacher had taught him so many alchemy techniques, not to mention that fifth-tier alchemy inheritance. For a mere Flying Dou Technique scroll, he was more than willing to give it to them.

But since there was only one scroll, no matter who he gave it to, it would feel unfair. So, in the end, it was better to just sell it off.

Once he grew stronger, he would find a way to obtain the Sky Bird Nine Flying Wings of Yan Luo Tian.

Then he could craft even better Flying Dou Techniques for them himself.

”Hehe, I’m sure everyone here is aware of how rare Flying Dou Techniques are nowadays. After internal evaluation, this Thunder Bat Sky Wings scroll is considered a Low-Grade Black Class Flying Dou Technique. Therefore, its starting bid is set at one million gold coins. Let the auction begin!”

The auctioneer smiled broadly on the stage as he announced the start of the bidding.

”As expected, something like this isn’t going to be cheap.”

Hearing the price, Xiao Yan narrowed his eyes slightly and thought to himself.

He was secretly grateful that his teacher had helped him acquire so much money earlier.

Otherwise, he would’ve had no choice but to sit quietly and be a mere spectator today.

After the starting price was announced, the fiery gazes in the auction hall quickly diminished.

No sooner had the auctioneer’s voice faded than the Blood Sect’s young sect master, Fan Ling, called out:

”One million three hundred thousand!”

”One million five hundred thousand!”

Right after Fan Ling placed his bid, a Dou Ling-level cultivator stood up and raised the price.

Fan Ling’s expression turned cold at the move, and he immediately responded:

”One million eight hundred thousand!”

”Young Master Fan Ling is certainly bold with his bids. But this Thunder Bat Sky Wings interests our Heavenly Serpent Mansion as well, so I’m afraid we’ll have to compete. Two million!”

As the seductive voice rang out, the price was raised once again.

Hearing the sultry tone, Fan Ling’s pale face visibly twitched. His eyes narrowed as he turned to look toward another corner of the auction hall.

There, a group of voluptuous, long-limbed women were lounging on plush chairs, their supple waists as enticing as water snakes.

”Heh, so it’s Elder Qing of the Heavenly Serpent Mansion. Didn’t expect you to show up at this auction as well.”

Fan Ling forced a smile, but his eyes were cold as he stared at the seductive Elder Qing.

Taking a deep breath, he then pushed the bid to the limit he could afford:

”Two million three hundred thousand!”

”Two million five hundred thousand!”

At that moment, Xiao Yan finally entered the fray and called out his bid, joining the competition.

Fan Ling turned his head and was instantly enraged. A cold, threatening voice slipped through his clenched teeth:

”Bastard! It’s one thing if people from the Heavenly Serpent Mansion want to fight me for it, but even some nameless brat dares to steal this young master’s prize? If this mission weren’t so important, I’d suck every last drop of blood from your body on the spot!”

Still, he raised his voice again:

”Two million eight hundred thousand!”

”Interesting.”

Elder Qing of the Heavenly Serpent Mansion cast a glance at Xiao Yan, then looked over at the furious Fan Ling. A glimmer of gloating amusement danced in her beautiful eyes.

Hearing that number, Xiao Yan didn’t raise his bid immediately. Instead, he began to weigh his options.

At this point, the price of the flying Dou Technique had clearly exceeded its normal value.

Even though the money he had was technically stolen, spending so extravagantly still made him hesitate a little.

After a brief pause, he reminded himself of how rare flying Dou Techniques truly were.

If he missed this chance, he might not come across one again for a long time.

In the end, he called out again:

”Three million!”

”Is this guy crazy rich or something? He’s buying it at such an insane markup.”

Hearing Xiao Yan’s firm tone, many in the hall couldn’t help but twitch at the corners of their mouths.

Flying Dou Techniques were indeed rare, but it wasn’t like they had never appeared at auctions before.

A Low-Grade Black Class flying Dou Technique typically went for around two million gold coins.

Now it was already over a million above that… and someone was still bidding.

Even Fan Ling, known far and wide for being a notorious spendthrift, started to have second thoughts.

”Hmph! Kid, there’s no way I’m going to let you get your hands on the Thunder Bat Sky Wings that easily.”

With that thought in mind, Fan Ling sneered and shouted:

”Three million two hundred thousand!”
