VISION GRID SYSTEM: THE COMEBACK OF RYOMA TAKEDA

As Ronin quietly wraps up the financial framework behind the Tokyo Dome project, the boxing world has already shifted its attention to the purse bid.

For days, boxing media, podcasts, television panels, and social media continue circling back to the same unanswered question. The failed conspiracy surrounding Ryoma Takeda, Miguel Cabello, and Hugo Ramirez has long since moved beyond being a criminal investigation.

No one seriously believes Ramirez acted alone. The promoter is still awaiting extradition, yet the man himself has remained stubbornly silent, offering investigators nothing beyond his own involvement.

That silence only fuels more speculation. If Ramirez was merely a piece on the board, then someone else is still out there, someone with enough influence to benefit from preventing Ryoma and Cabello from ever sharing the same ring.

And with the WBO purse bid approaching, many begin pointing to the same conclusion. If there is another opportunity to interfere with the fight, this could be their last chance.

Headlines discussing the upcoming purse bid quickly begin replacing the fight itself.

THE REAL FIGHT STARTS IN LONDON

”Winning the championship is still months away. Winning the purse bid comes first, and after everything surrounding Hugo Ramirez, this may become the most closely watched purse bid in recent WBO history.”

One of the most discussed episodes that week comes from Ringside Podcast, where the conversation quickly shifts away from punches and rankings, focusing instead on the business battle waiting in London.

”Forget Ryoma versus Cabello for a second.”

”Exactly. The real fight starts at the purse bid. Whoever wins that room controls the biggest boxing event the sport has seen in years.”

”And if someone really wants this fight to disappear. They don’t need another assassination attempt. They just need the wrong promoter to win.”

On social media, the conversation grows even louder. #ProtectRyoma trends once again as fans from around the world flood every boxing platform with theories, predictions, and warnings ahead of the London purse bid.

”@RyomaTakeda Stay safe in London. Something about this whole situation still doesn’t feel right.”

”I’m telling you, Ramirez wasn’t the mastermind. Somebody bigger is still out there.”

”If anyone tries anything at the purse bid, @WorldBoxingOrg will have a lot to answer for.”

The growing attention eventually reaches the WBO. The organization itself had already announced that the purse bid would be held under strict security. But as public pressure continues mounting, those preparations quietly become even more extensive.

Additional security personnel are assigned, coordination with British authorities is strengthened, and every official delegate will now be placed under WBO supervision from arrival until the purse bid concludes.

Officially, nothing has changed. Unofficially, everyone understands the WBO is taking no chances this time.

London Heathrow Airport

London, United Kingdom

June 19, 2018 — 7:42 A.M. (BST)

After nearly fourteen hours in the air, the cabin doors finally open. Ryoma steps out of the aircraft first, followed by Kurogane and Sera. Even before reaching the jet bridge, the fatigue from the long-haul flight is already written across their faces.

Ryoma has barely slept throughout the journey, his thoughts repeatedly drifting back to the purse bid awaiting them a few days from now.

Kurogane looks no better, quietly massaging the back of his neck as he walks. And Sera, despite having flown between Tokyo and London countless times during his university years, cannot completely escape the familiar weight of jet lag.

”Long-haul flights really are torture,” Kurogane mutters. Then he nudges Sera with his elbow. ”You seem to be handling it pretty well.”

”Not really.” Sera shakes his head. ”It’s been over two years since my last trip to London. I guess my body forgot what this feels like.”

A few steps behind them, Kaito Morishima walks with his phone pressed against one ear, a leather briefcase tucked beneath his other arm.

”Yes, we’ve just landed,” he says quietly. ”We’re still at Heathrow. I’ll call again once we’ve reached the hotel.”

His expression remains as composed as ever, though the dark circles beneath his eyes betray that he is just as exhausted as everyone else.

Bringing up the rear is a five-man security detail personally arranged through Superintendent Shibata, all former officers of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department who now work in private security.

The moment they enter the terminal, the oldest member of the security detail quietly raises one hand. His movements are calm and unhurried, yet they carry the quiet authority of someone long accustomed to being obeyed.

Two men immediately move several meters ahead to clear the path, while the remaining two fall into position behind the group without exchanging a single word.

The formation changes so naturally that most travelers passing by never even notice it.

Ryoma glances toward the man leading them.

”Hayakawa-san.”

”Yes, Takeda-san?”

”Try not to make too much of a scene.”

Hayakawa answers with the slightest nod, though nothing about the formation changes.

A former Tokyo Metropolitan Police inspector personally recommended by Superintendent Shibata, Tetsuya Hayakawa treats every assignment with the same discipline he once brought to the force.

After clearing immigration, Ryoma instinctively starts toward the baggage claim area. Before he gets more than two steps, Hayakawa quietly steps in front of him.

”Please leave the luggage to us, Takeda-san.”

”It’s all right,” Ryoma says tiredly. ”I can carry my own bag.”

”No, sir.” The reply remains perfectly polite, yet firm enough to end the discussion before it begins. ”Your responsibility is to keep moving. Ours is everything else.”

Before Ryoma can protest again, two members of the security team have already broken away toward the conveyor belts to collect the luggage.

Ryoma watches the two men disappear toward the conveyor belts before glancing around at the security formation surrounding him.

”I feel like a yakuza boss already.”

Kurogane doesn’t even look at him. ”Aren’t you?”

Ryoma gives him a flat look. ”I’m pretty sure I’m not.”

Hayakawa allows himself the faintest smile, though the formation never breaks as the group continues toward the arrival hall, where another reception is already waiting for them.

Even as they step into the arrival hall and spot several reporters rushing over from the distance, Hayakawa never loses his composure. He calmly scans the surroundings before issuing a series of short instructions.

”Front two, clear the path. Rear, stay close. No one gets within arm’s reach of Takeda-san.”

The security detail moves immediately. Two men fan out ahead of the group while the others tighten the formation around Ryoma, leaving just enough space for Kurogane, Sera, and Morishima to walk beside him.

But still, it does little to slow the media.

”Mr. Takeda! Are you expecting interference at the purse bid?”

”Do you believe Hugo Ramirez acted alone?”

”Can you comment on the reports of a larger conspiracy?”

”How aggressive will Ronin be at the purse bid?”

”Who’s backing your bid financially, Mr. Takeda?”

Microphones and cameras surge toward them from every direction, reporters calling over one another in hopes of drawing even a single response.

But Ryoma doesn’t answer a word, while Hayakawa calmly leads the group through the growing crowd without breaking stride.

”Please stand back, everyone.”

”Keep a safe distance, please. Thank you.”

The two officers at the front repeat the instructions in steady, professional voices as they guide the press away without laying a hand on anyone, creating just enough space for the group to continue toward the exit.

Before the crowd can thicken any further, another security team suddenly emerges from the opposite side of the arrival hall. Dressed in dark suits with WBO credentials hanging from their necks, they quickly create a second corridor between Ryoma’s group and the advancing media.

Hayakawa notices them immediately. Without waiting for an explanation, he steps forward, subtly placing himself between the newcomers and Ryoma.

One of the men approaches at a measured pace before reaching into the inside pocket of his jacket.

”My name is Bradley Davidson,” he says, holding up an identification wallet. ”WBO Security Operations.”

Hayakawa studies the credential for a brief moment before giving a slight nod.

”Hayakawa. Private security for Takeda-san.”

Davidson returns the nod without missing a beat. ”We’ve been assigned to receive Mr. Takeda. From this point until the purse bid concludes, the WBO will coordinate his transportation, hotel security, and venue access.”

Hayakawa glances briefly toward Ryoma before looking back at Davidson.

”My team stays with him,” he says.

”Of course,” Davidson replies. ”We wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The two men exchange one final nod, no handshakes, nor unnecessary formalities. After that, Davidson simply gestures toward the waiting exit.

”This way, Mr. Takeda. Your vehicles are ready.”

Ryoma nods and continues walking without another word. Kurogane, Sera, and Kaito quickly fall in behind him, exchanging subtle glances as they awkwardly follow, none of them quite accustomed to receiving this level of treatment upon arriving in a foreign country.

Even without answering a single question, Ryoma has already given the media more than enough material for today’s headlines.

The sight of a WBO security team personally receiving him at Heathrow, coordinating directly with his own private security, is something few people can remember ever happening for a challenger.

Cameras continue rolling as the convoy disappears from the terminal, every second carefully preserved for news broadcasts around the world.

Not far from the entrance, one television reporter immediately turns toward her cameraman as the red tally light comes on.

”We’ve just witnessed an extraordinary scene here at Heathrow Airport,” she says. ”WBO security personally escorted Ryoma Takeda upon his arrival in London, working alongside a private security detail reportedly arranged through Japanese authorities. While the organization insists these measures are purely precautionary, they reflect the growing concern surrounding Monday’s purse bid after weeks of speculation over possible interference.”

She glances briefly toward the departing convoy before looking back into the camera.

”Whatever happens inside that bidding room, one thing is already clear. This is no longer being treated as an ordinary purse bid.”
