Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

Zhao Nuanyue’s slender frame blocked the young men’s path, preventing them from entering the livestock team’s area.

”Hey, miss, please step aside.” One of the young men’s eyes lit up when he saw Zhao Nuanyue. He hadn’t expected to find such a pretty girl in Nianqiao Village. ’If only this were the county seat,’ he thought, ’I could always find a way to get my hands on her.’

Seeing the lecherous look in the punk’s eyes, Zhao Nuanyue faced him head-on and said angrily, ”You’re not from Nianqiao Village. You can’t go in.”

He Qiang couldn’t stand it and was about to rush out, but Zhao Nuanyue held him back.

”Get out of the way.” The young man was displeased. They had just been blocked and taunted by the villagers at the village entrance. They couldn’t lay a hand on the common folk; even if they did, they’d probably be the ones to get the worst of it.

”You can’t do this.” The young man forced Zhao Nuanyue to keep backing away as the others behind him rushed forward.

Just at that critical moment, Hua Yusen sent the young man whose hand was about to touch Zhao Nuanyue flying with a kick, cursing, ”Molesting someone in broad daylight!”

Hua Yusen had been running at the very front and saved Zhao Nuanyue.

’That was his Nuanyue. He wouldn’t allow anyone’s filthy hands to touch her.’

”OWW!” The young man fell to the ground, howling in pain.

Seeing how formidable Hua Yusen was, the other young men didn’t dare to advance. Instead, they clamored, ”How dare you hit me!”

One of them, hot-headed, charged forward.

Hua Yusen dealt with them one by one. With a flurry of punches and kicks, he made quick work of the dozen or so men. They were no match for him at all and were soon lying on the ground, crying out in pain.

Li Guihua and Wu Dazhu had also rushed over. They happened to hear Hua Yusen’s shout of ”Molesting someone!” Li Guihua’s eyes lit up, and she quickly said, ”This is a new society! We women can hold up half the sky! You can’t just bully a woman and commit indecent assault!”

As Li Guihua spoke, she shot Zhao Nuanyue a meaningful look.

Zhao Nuanyue was still shaken. But when she saw Li Guihua winking at her, she immediately understood. ’A direct confrontation won’t work, so I have to attack from the side.’ She covered her face and began to wail, ”I can’t go on living! These bastards bullied me, they molested me! My reputation is ruined, I don’t want to live anymore! Don’t hold me back, I’m going to jump in the river! I’m better off dead than living in shame!”

And with that, Zhao Nuanyue covered her face and made to jump into the river.

Over on the side, Hua Yusen was still beating up the insolent young men. Hearing Zhao Nuanyue’s cries, his heart ached for her even more, and he put more force into his blows, beating them until they were crying for their mamas and papas.

Although Wu Dazhu had brought people to break up the fight, they only held back the young men, which made it even easier for Hua Yusen to beat them up.

”Ouch, you’re so audacious...”

”You...”

”Aah, it hurts, it hurts...”

Zhao Nuanyue’s shrill voice was hoarse as she shrieked, ”I can’t live anymore! My innocence is gone...”

At that moment, Zhao Nuanyue was just like a shrew!

But this was no time to worry about appearances.

”You’re lying! I didn’t do anything!” one of the young men protested, scrambling to defend himself.

Li Guihua turned and glared at him. ”You didn’t do anything? Then why is this young lady trying to kill herself?”

”I didn’t even touch her hand...” a young man tried to explain, wanting to say he hadn’t managed to touch her.

”Touch her hand? What else were you planning to touch?” Li Guihua berated him. ”So young and already up to no good, learning to harass women. If your parents can’t teach you how to behave, then we’ll teach you a lesson, so you don’t go on to harm more women in the future!”

These young city slickers had never encountered such formidable village women before!

They were young men from the city. The rural women they’d met usually scurried away at the sight of them. Who would dare to confront them like this?

’The young one is a little shrew, the older one is an old shrew, and now a whole flock of shrews from Nianqiao Village is gathering behind them.’

Meanwhile, Miao Dahai and Zheng Delin were in the village office, reviewing reports. As Director Zheng looked them over, he was pondering how he could complete his mission for the day.

But before Director Zheng could say anything, they heard someone running over in a hurry.

”Director Zheng, Liu Daliang was beaten up! A lot of us were beaten up!” one of the young men yelled as he ran over breathlessly.

Hearing the young man’s words, a villager from Nianqiao Village who had come to report was displeased and retorted, ”That’s not what happened! Those snot-nosed brats tried to take liberties with Zhao Nuanyue. You know that girl’s temperament, sir. She’s fierce! She was about to jump into the river!”

”What?” Hearing this, Miao Dahai shot up from his seat. ”In broad daylight! They’re barely out of their diapers and already know how to harass a decent woman. Zheng Delin, sigh, I don’t even know what to say to you!”

Zheng Delin was even more displeased to hear this and retorted, ”Miao Dahai, that’s not right. You’re always talking about evidence. It’s the middle of the day. How could the men I brought with me possibly do something like that?”
