Immortality Begins with Breathing Exercises

Chapter 203: Chapter 102: Perseverance Through Repeated Failure

Bafang City is quite bustling.

In the central area of the inner city, almost every street has a pharmacy.

Some even have two or three pharmacies in a row.

Lin Zheyu visited several pharmacies in a row and found out the prices for the herbs needed for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup.

Songyi City has been greatly affected by the war, causing prices to soar. Currently, a set of herbs for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup costs twenty-two silver taels.

Previously, when he took a break at Wangshan City during his journey and went to buy herbs, a set for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup cost about fourteen silver taels.

In Bafang City, however, it only costs around nine silver taels, much cheaper than Songyi City before it was affected by the war.

After leaving the pharmacy, Lin Zheyu continued walking forward.

He crossed the street, turned left, and walked over two hundred meters to a large square.

The square was bustling with people, very lively.

Lin Zheyu crossed the square, arrived on the opposite side, and entered Baochun Tower.

This pharmacy is the largest in Bafang City, offering the most comprehensive selection of herbs. Many rare herbs can be found here.

While purchasing the herbs for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup, Lin Zheyu also wanted to see if he could find some rare herbs to concoct poisons and antidotes from the ”Poison Canon.”

”Sir, are you here to buy medicine or for a consultation?”

The shopkeeper approached with a smiling expression.

”Shopkeeper, may I ask how much silver it would take to gather all the herbs on this list?”

Lin Zheyu handed over a list with various herbs and asked.

The list not only included herbs for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup but also some items he planned to purchase to concoct poisons, powders, and some common Antitoxic Elixirs.

”Please wait a moment, sir.”

The shopkeeper took the list, pulled out an abacus, and began to calculate.

Clickety-clack—

His movements were swift, the abacus making clacking noises, and soon, the shopkeeper raised his head.

”Sir, it comes to a total of eighteen silver taels and three hundred eighty-five copper coins, but the Locust Herb and Hehuan Wood are unavailable.”

”These two herbs are regulated and prohibited from being sold,” the shopkeeper said.

’Quite affordable.’

Lin Zheyu nodded slightly, somewhat surprised.

He had thought that the herbs in Baochun Tower would be more expensive than those in smaller pharmacies. Unexpectedly, they were about the same, even cheaper by a silver tael or so.

He wasn’t surprised that Locust Herb and Hehuan Wood weren’t available.

One is highly poisonous, while the other is the main ingredient for making powders, with effects that include arousal, so selling them openly could cause many problems.

To acquire these two herbs, one could only purchase from herb gatherers or find them on the black market.

Lin Zheyu pondered and asked, ”If I buy more at once, how much discount can I get?”

”Sir, you’re buying to train in martial arts, right?”

”This seems to be the recipe for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup. Although there are many unrelated herbs listed, most herbs are the same as the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup’s recipe,” the shopkeeper commented.

”Oh?”

Lin Zheyu was slightly taken aback, not expecting the shopkeeper to recognize it.

Seeming to read Lin Zheyu’s mind, the shopkeeper added, ”This recipe is widely circulated; all the major pharmacies in the city know it.”

The shopkeeper smiled and continued, ”The price I’ve given you is already the lowest. You can inquire elsewhere, but everywhere else will have the same price.”

”What if I want to buy fifty sets of herbs for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup at once?” Lin Zheyu asked.

The shopkeeper was slightly surprised as he looked at Lin Zheyu.

Buying so many sets of herbs for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup at once is quite rare. Most buy two or three, at most ten, and come back once they’ve used up their stock.

”For fifty sets, I can offer you a discount of three hundred copper coins per set. However, this discount doesn’t apply to non-Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup herbs.”

”Of course, if you’re planning to buy fifty sets of other herbs, I can give you a discount on those too,” the shopkeeper remarked.

”No need for the others; I don’t need that many.”

Lin Zheyu shook his head, pondered for a moment, and couldn’t help but ask, ”I wonder if the shopkeeper has any formulas more potent than the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup?”

Since Baochun Tower knows the recipe for the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup, it might also know other supplement formulas.

”You’ve asked the right person, sir.”

”In Bafang City, many martial arts soup recipes are widely circulated, among which three are more potent than the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup.”

”These three recipes have stronger effects than the Blood-Nourishing and Bone-Strengthening Soup, but they are very demanding on the body.”

”Even martial artists at the Qi Blood Realm dare not use them lightly. Most martial artists only use them when breaking through realms to overcome bottlenecks,” the shopkeeper said with a grin.

”Could you elaborate?” Lin Zheyu asked curiously.

”Of course.”

”Please have a seat over here, sir, Geng Li, serve the tea!”

”Please wait a moment here; we’ll also bring over some soup prepared from those three recipes for you to try.”

The shopkeeper led Lin Zheyu to a side hall, asking him to wait there for a while.

”It seems there are many martial artists like me, as Baochun Tower has specially prepared medicinal soups for people to try,”

Lin Zheyu said to himself.

After pondering, he understood all the reasons.

Bafang City, as the most bustling city in the region, is located at a crucial transportation hub, with most caravans having to pass through.

Therefore, many trade caravans and travelers pass through here daily.

Surely, martial artists from small places like Lin Zheyu often come here to consult or buy powerful medicinal recipes.

”In Bafang City, there might be significant gains,” Lin Zheyu thought to himself.
