Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1086: Zhang Chen’s Decision

After trying for a while, Hun Di opened his eyes and informed them, ”I can’t find Zhang Fei’s soul in his tiny soul world, and he seems to be trapped inside the Cursed Demon Heart. Moreover, the situation inside his soul world is extremely grim, and it’s only getting worse with each passing moment. If his condition continues like this, he will really succumb to the influence of his heart.”

”We agree with our master,” Lin Moxian and the others spoke after opening their eyes. ”The only way to save our junior brother is to awaken his soul, but he hasn’t responded to us, perhaps due to the Cursed Demon Heart’s influence.”

”Can you send me into his soul world, Senior?” Zhang Chen asked Hun Di.

Qing Yi immediately spoke to her. ”Mother, you shouldn’t do that. It will be dangerous for you, and you might die if the Cursed Demon Heart devours your soul. Even if you can save Fei’er that way, he will surely suffer greatly if you die.”

”Grandma, I want to help my big brother, but we should think of another solution to do it. He will blame himself if one of us dies, and he will never forgive himself.” Zhang Lin also spoke to Zhang Chen.

Unlike them, Zhang Yue sat on Zhang Chen’s side and spoke to Hun Di directly. ”Senior, please send my soul into my husband’s soul world, and I will save him from the Cursed Demon Heart.”

”No.” Zhang Chen called out to Zhang Yue. ”Yue’er, you’re still young, so I can’t let you take such a risk. I’ll go in there to awaken his soul, and I’ll make sure he returns to all of you.”

”But, Grandma—”

”Don’t argue with me, Yue’er.” Zhang Chen looked at Hun Di again. ”Senior, please send me there. I know it’s dangerous, but I can’t let my grandson fall into the control of the Cursed Demon Heart. No matter the cost, I will save him and bring him back, so please do it now.”

”I’ll accompany you there, Grandma,” Qian Shuang suddenly spoke as she sat beside Zhang Chen. ”I have a special ability that I can only use once a year, and I haven’t used it in a long time, so I’ll use it now. I will connect you to my husband’s soul, and you can try to awaken him, but I can only do it from within his soul world.”

Jia Yuyan immediately spoke. ”Qian Shuang is right; she’s the only person who can connect our souls with Zhang Fei’s. Moreover, her light element is quite pure, so I think it can protect her and Grandma Chen from the Cursed Demon Heart’s influence. However, they can’t stay in his soul world for too long, and they must leave immediately if the heart further affects his soul world.”

”Then it’s decided; please send Quang’er and me into Fei’er’s tiny world, Senior.” Zhang Chen spoke to Hun Di.

Hun Di released a soft sigh and turned to his disciples. ”Use your soul powers to strengthen their souls, and I will send them into your junior brother’s soul world afterward.”

”Yes, Master.” Lin Moxian, Qiao Liangren, Shang Yingyue, Yan Yinqing, and Jing Qiuyue moved to sit behind Zhang Chen and Qian Shuang. They pressed their palms against their backs and used their soul power to boost theirs. ”They are ready, Master.”

Hun Di first handed two items to Zhang Chen and Qian Shuang. ”Hold them tight so I can detect if the situation worsens, and I will immediately pull your souls out of there.”

”Yes, Senior.”

Zhang Chen and Qian Shuang fell unconscious as soon as Hun Di sent their souls into Zhang Fei’s soul world. ”Are you sure they won’t encounter any problems?”

”I can’t be sure, Senior,” Hun Di answered Jia Yuyan with a shake of his head. ”My disciples have strengthened their souls, and I’m also using my soul power to protect their souls. If I sense the cursed demon heart is affecting them, I will immediately pull their souls out of there so the heart won’t be able to devour them.”

Jia Yuyan nodded in understanding. ”Let’s wait then; I hope Grandma Chen can awaken our husband’s soul.”

A while later, the souls of the two women were already inside Zhang Fei’s soul world, but their expressions turned ugly because the situation inside was too chaotic, and many disasters were occurring within. ”Quang’er, use your ability now, and I will try to awaken Fei’er’s soul so that he will not succumb to the influence of the cursed demon heart.”

”Yes, Grandma.” Qian Shuang touched Zhang Chen’s back directly. ”Grandma, you might feel a little nauseous and dizzy, but I’m sure you will meet my husband’s soul in person.”

Zhang Chen nodded at her. ”Do it now, Quang’er.”

”Get ready, Grandma.”

When Zhang Chen opened her eyes, she found herself in a dark place. However, she did not see the evil soul of the nine-tailed fox or the male demon, and she only found Zhang Fei lying on the ground in a half-dead state, making his soul slightly transparent.

Zhang Chen immediately approached his grandson, sat by his side, and placed his head on her lap. ”Fei’er, please wake up; I came here to save you.”

Zhang Fei’s eyelashes trembled when he heard that familiar voice, but his eyes were too heavy as his consciousness was already too thin.

”Fei’er, wake up, it’s your grandma.” Zhang Chen called out to him once again, but Zhang Fei still did not open his eyes. She lowered her face, kissed him, and infused her soul power into his soul.

Zhang Fei’s soul gradually returned to its original state, but Zhang Chen’s soul gradually faded away due to her actions. However, she suddenly received an injection of soul power from outside, stopping her soul from fading away.

Through their mouths, Zhang Chen kept channeling her soul power into Zhang Fei’s for quite a while, making his soul return to its original state sometime later.

Zhang Fei slowly opened his eyes before staring blankly at Zhang Chen, who was kissing him. As a cultivator, he could sense her soul power flowing into his soul, which mixed with the soul power of several other people.

Zhang Fei stretched his hands, embraced Zhang Chen’s head, and kissed her back, startling her.

In her entire life, Zhang Chen never imagined kissing her own grandson, but she took the initiative to kiss Zhang Fei to restore his soul. Even so, they did not share a passionate kiss; instead, they merely pressed their lips together while she continued to channel soul power into his soul.

Once Zhang Fei’s soul had completely recovered, Zhang Chen stopped her action and separated their lips. She caressed his cheeks and looked at him with great affection. ”Why do you like this, Fei’er? I always believed you were a strong child, and you never gave up easily in the face of your situation, but you’ve made us all worry about you. If I didn’t come here, you would have succumbed to the influence of the cursed demon heart, and you would have made us all miserable.”

”I’m sorry, Grandma.” Zhang Fei replied with a soft sigh. ”We are inside the Cursed Demon Heart now, and they are too strong for me. I can’t use my strength in this place, so I am unable to defeat them.

Zhang Chen shook her head in response. ”You say you don’t have your power, but I can actually get it in here, right? If I, an outsider, can channel the power of my soul and several other people into your soul, you as the owner should be able to use your power here, right? We may be inside the Cursed Demon Heart, but you have to remember that the heart merged with your body long ago, so you are its true owner. Therefore, I believe that your weakness is just your imagination, which is influenced by the heart. Moreover, your soul is different from the souls of other people because of the existence of hundreds of white lotuses in it, so I believe that the soul of the previous owner of your heart will never be able to defeat you.”

”Grandma, I—”

Zhang Chen placed her fingers on Zhang Fei’s lips. ”For now, you should focus on removing the influence of the Cursed Demon Heart from your mind and soul, and you’ll realize that you still have your powers. After that, you can meet the old owner of your heart, and you must kick his ass because he has made us worry about you.”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei softly laughed upon hearing Zhang Chen speak like that.

{Foolish kid.} Zhang Fei and Zhang Chen turned to the benevolent soul of the ten-tailed fox. {I delayed my appearance to evaluate your determination, but you disappointed me by quickly succumbing to the influence of the Cursed Demon Heart. As your grandmother said just now, we are in your body, and the heart has long been yours. If only you could have seen everything clearly from the start, your grandmother wouldn’t have taken the risk of saving you.}

Zhang Fei released a soft sigh before getting up and lifting Zhang Chen to her feet. ”You’re right, old fox. I I was too stupid to see the truth, and I was foolish for always relying on all my advantages. They have helped me become strong, but they are not everything to me; my true strength lies within myself.”

{It’s good that you finally realized it.} The benevolent soul of the ten-tailed fox spoke while nodding. {Now it’s time to eliminate this darkness and defeat that demon, after which you can fully take control of the Cursed Demon Heart. As for my evil soul, I’ll take care of it for you, so you just need to focus on that demon.}

”Yeah.” Zhang Fei looked at his grandmother. ”Grandma, you have to go now, and I will see you soon.”

Zhang Chen smiled and nodded to him. ”I’ll wait for you outside, Fei’er.”

After Zhang Chen disappeared, Zhang Fei inhaled and exhaled several times. His eyes became sharp and firm, and he immediately released his soul power, which dispelled the darkness around them.

”What the hell!” The male demon and the evil soul of the ten-tailed fox screamed in shock. ”How is this possible? My heart has already affected your mind and soul!”

Unlike the male demon, the evil soul of the ten-tailed fox solely focuses his attention on the benevolent soul. ”You must be the one who saved him!”

”Unfortunately, you’re wrong about that.” The benevolent soul of the ten-tailed fox spoke with a shake of its head. ”Someone saved him, but you two didn’t notice that person’s presence. Unfortunately, it’s too late because he already realized everything, and it’s time for him to fight back.”

”You—” Both the male demon and the evil soul of the ten-tailed fox stopped talking as hundreds of white lotuses shot out from Zhang Fei’s soul, rotating in place and emitting an extremely powerful aura.

Zhang Fei looked at the two of them with seriousness. ”It’s my turn to defeat you two.”
