Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 695: Zhang Yueʼs Idea

”Zhang Fei?” The six men on guard were surprised by his sudden appearance, but then they glanced at Shang Yumei at his side. ʼShe is much stronger than Senior Feng Yao!ʼ

Zhang Fei immediately opened a portal to the Xian Kingdom. ”There have been some changes in the situation, and Zhou Xiaochuan will be back in two days, so I want you all to go back now.”

”Then—”

”Itʼs okay.” Zhang Fei interrupted Ximen Chuixue. ”I will also send the others back, and the two of us will deal with Zhou Xiaochuanʼs confidants ourselves. As for the people from the other sects, Emperor Xian should have ordered them to retreat.”

Ximen Chuixue and the other five men immediately agreed and woke the four women. Yuan Lao and the three women were surprised by Zhang Feiʼs presence, but they were even more surprised by Shang Yumeiʼs presence by his side.

Unlike Ye Zhiqiu and the other two, Bai Tianʼer looked sad after she saw Shang Yumei, who was hugging Zhang Feiʼs arm intimately. ”Enter the portal now, and you guys will arrive at our kingdom.”

”Letʼs go.” Ximen Chuixue immediately led his group members, but Bai Tianʼer seemed reluctant to leave, and she wanted to be with Zhang Fei.

Unfortunately, Zhang Fei maintained an indifferent attitude toward Bai Tianʼer, which caused her to sigh deeply and immediately follow the others.

”Why are you indifferent to that woman? Isnʼt she beautiful and sexy?” Shang Yumei inquired after Zhang Fei had closed the portal.

Zhang Fei nodded in response. ”I admit that Bai Tianʼer is indeed beautiful and sexy, but I am not interested in her because of her character. Actually, she is not much different from you, and she likes to use men for her benefit. At the same time, she is also different from you, but I canʼt explain the difference between the two of you in words.”

”Hmm?” Shang Yumei contemplated for a moment. ”Bai Tianʼerʼs mentality and cultivation are weak, and she lacks the ability to support her actions, leaving her completely dependent on her victims. As for me, I never depend on my victims, and I always milk their resources dry. If they turn against me, I just need to kill them.”

”Maybe.” Zhang Fei searched for the location of Zhou Xiaochuanʼs remaining subordinates, and he informed Shang Yumei, who immediately moved to capture them.

”Do you intend to speed up your plans?”

”Yes.” Zhang Fei nodded to Feng Yao, who had just landed in front of him. ”Zhou Xiaochuan and Kong Zi wanted to hunt me down, so I decided to speed up my plans. Their current circumstances will overwhelm them, leaving them with little time to search for me. After this, all I need to do is wait for Nanfeng Yunxi to arrive in this realm, and once I speak with her, I will bring them into seclusion.”

”What are your plans for Nanfeng Yunxi?” Feng Yao asked again.

”I donʼt have any plans for Nanfeng Yunxi yet.” Zhang Fei answered with a shake of his head. ”She is indeed part of the Alchemy Union, but we have no enmity with each other, and her higher-ups intentionally used her as bait to approach me. I will talk to her first, and I will make a decision depending on her attitude.”

”I donʼt know Nanfeng Yunxiʼs alchemy abilities or alchemist rank yet, but she is Xiu Hanyuʼs direct disciple. If you can convince her to side with you, she will be a useful ally for you, and she might be able to help you take over the Alchemy Union.” Feng Yaoʼs last sentence surprised Zhang Fei, especially since he had not thought that far ahead. ”As you already know, that organization controls the entire alchemy market in these middle realms, and there are many excellent alchemists in it. If you take over that organization, it will become your extension, allowing you to control all realms in these middle realms.”

Zhang Fei was certainly interested in Feng Yaoʼs idea, especially since it was in line with his plans for the future. However, he felt that it was still too far out of reach, so he didnʼt want to think about it for now. ”Please help me capture them.”

”All right.”

After Feng Yao disappeared, Zhang Fei went to see Xian Qifeng and Luo Qinglin. He immediately sent their group and several other groups from that kingdom back to the Xian Kingdom.

Zhang Fei then searched for Yun Aoxianʼs group on the map, but he was unable to locate them in the Zhou Kingdom. He was certain that they had immediately returned to the Yun Kingdom following Yun Shangʼs order.

Later, Shang Yumei and Feng Yao returned to Zhang Fei, bringing with them many of Zhou Xiaochuanʼs subordinates, including those previously captured by all those groups.

Zhang Fei immediately took action against them, surprising the two women, particularly Feng Yao. ”Originally, I thought you would hand them over to Zhou Shenxin, so I didnʼt expect that you would keep them by your side.”

”Werenʼt you the one who told me not to trust other people easily?” Feng Yao nodded to Zhang Fei. ”I trust Zhou Shenxin, but I trust my gut feeling more. I canʼt explain my feelings about her to you, but I feel that I canʼt leave everything to her, so I decided to keep them by my side, at least for now.”

”What about me? Do you trust me?” Feng Yao asked with a smile.

”Do you want to hear the truth?” Feng Yao gave Zhang Fei a light nod. ”The truth is I donʼt trust you completely, especially since you repeatedly tried to probe me with your eye technique.”

”Oh?” Zhang Feiʼs answer greatly surprised Feng Yao. ”How did you notice my actions? Not even my parents could notice my actions, and you are the first person to notice my eye ability.”

”Secret.” Zhang Fei replied with a wink. ”Aside from you, I also harbor a bad feeling about Feng Jinqiu, and I feel that she has ulterior motives toward my big sister.”

”Haha.” Feng Yao laughed upon hearing that. ”Whether you believe me or not, I dare say that I have no ill intentions toward you. However, you are correct that I have a specific purpose to delve deeper into your life, but I wonʼt reveal it to you just yet. You will learn everything once you reach the Seven Divine Realms.”

”Are you really going to tell me everything when I break through to the Seven Divine Realms?” Zhang Fei doubtfully asked.

”I swear Iʼll tell you a lot of things once you reach that stage.” Zhang Fei still looked doubtful even though Feng Yao had said that. ”As for Feng Jinqiu, I dare to guarantee that she has no evil intentions toward Zhang Yue. However, your big sister is part of her ice phoenix race now, and she has to go to the Frozen Lotus Basin to face the first and last trial of the ice phoenix.”

”A trial of the ice phoenix?”

”Yes.” Feng Yao nodded to Zhang Fei. ”Since I am a fire phoenix, I donʼt know about the ice phoenix trial, so I canʼt tell you anything about it. Anyway, you donʼt need to ask Feng Jinqiu about it, especially since Iʼm confident that she wonʼt tell you. She will only tell Zhang Yue when your big sister is ready to go there.”

Zhang Fei frowned after hearing that. He felt that the Ice Phoenix trial was not a good thing, forcing him to reconsider bringing Zhang Yue to the Frozen Lotus Basin.

Observing Zhang Feiʼs expression, Feng Yao gave him a pat on the shoulder. ”Rather than thinking about that, you should focus on helping Zhang Yue improve herself. I donʼt know anything about the Ice Phoenix trial, but I can tell you that your big sister will be the strongest among your harem members if she manages to pass it; not even the nine-tailed demon fox can match her at that time.”

Shang Yumei, who had only been listening to them, finally spoke. ”Princess Yao is right, Zhang Fei. The ice phoenix is one of the strongest mythical beasts, and her ice is extremely freezing. If your big sister succeeds in going through the trial and obtains her inheritance, she will become truly powerful.”

”Did Huli Yaohu tell you about that?”

”Yes.” Shang Yumei answered Zhang Fei with a nod. ”My master once fought with the ice phoenix, and she forced her to flee, or else she would freeze to death.”

”Oh?” Zhang Fei was surprised to hear that, especially since the nine-tailed demon fox was no less powerful and arrogant than the other mythical beasts. ”All right, I will help my big sis prepare herself as best as possible before I bring her to the Frozen Lotus Basin, and she will not fail to pass the Ice Phoenix trial.”

After he gave some instructions to Zhou Xiaochuanʼs subordinates, Zhang Fei brought Shang Yumei and Feng Yao back to his residence, and those people hurriedly left to carry out his orders.

Zhang Fei then went to Zhang Yueʼs room, but she was immersed in her cultivation. Although her room was extremely cold, she controlled her cold well so it did not spread throughout the building. ʼHer control in the ice element is truly amazingly skilled. If I were in her shoes, Iʼm not sure if I could control it like she did.ʼ

Noticing Zhang Feiʼs presence, Zhang Yue immediately pulled her ice element back and suppressed her cold. She hurriedly opened her eyes and smiled at her little brother. ”Why did you come here? Did you miss me?”

”Yes.” Zhang Fei then lifted Zhang Yue to her feet. ”I missed you and wanted to eat you, so I came here to see you.”

Zhang Yue put her arms around Zhang Feiʼs neck and pressed their foreheads together. ”Since my husband wants to eat me, I will fulfill your wish. How about we do it in the open? I will use one of my techniques when we do it, and it might be able to help you gain resistance to the ice element. However, we canʼt do it inside your training space, and we have to do it in a deserted place, or everything around us will freeze. Besides, I have an idea for a technique, and I want to try to create one with you.”

”Do you really want to create a technique?” Zhang Fei asked in surprise, especially since he had never thought of creating his own technique.

Zhang Yue nodded before sharing her thoughts with Zhang Fei. ”Over the past few days, Iʼve been contemplating a specific idea. I was thinking whether we could combine our ice and fire elements to create a combined technique, and I believe the effect would be tremendous if we could do it.”

”Big sis, you know that fire and ice are opposites of each other, right?”

”Naturally, I know that, but I still want to try it.”

Zhang Fei raised his eyebrows at Zhang Yueʼs serious expression. ”All right, we can try, but Iʼm not sure that it will work.”

”Hehe.” Zhang Yue giggled and briefly kissed Zhang Fei. ”Letʼs go now! We have to find a deserted place to try it.”

A while later, they arrived at a small island in the middle of the southern ocean, and Zhang Yue immediately activated her ice element before using one of her ice techniques.

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei raised his eyebrows as Zhang Yueʼs ice element spread to the surrounding area. It enveloped the entire island before forming an ice dome, causing the entire area to freeze. He hurriedly channeled his fire element throughout his body, especially since the cold pierced his bones and almost froze his body. ”So how are we going to do it?”

”Try using your ordinary fire and dark fire together.” Zhang Fei immediately opened both his palms, and two different fires appeared above them. Zhang Yue immediately used her ice to freeze both of them, but only his ordinary fire froze, leaving his dark fire untouched. ”As expected, my ice is unable to freeze your dark fire because you have infused it with your darkness element.”

”Yeah, youʼre right.” Zhang Fei then withdrew both fires. ”So, what do you think we should do to create that combined technique?”

”Before we begin, we should first attempt to combine my ice and your dark fire at a low intensity to achieve equilibrium. Once we successfully achieve equilibrium, we will gradually increase both elements.” Zhang Fei gazed at his elder sister with astonishment. Zhang Yue, who had previously possessed minimal knowledge about cultivation and related topics, had undergone a significant transformation following her two-week training under Feng Jinqiu. ”Actually, Iʼve already discussed this with Senior Jinqiu, and she was not sure that my idea would work. However, if you can combine your fire and darkness elements to form your dark flame, I believe that we should be able to combine our fire and ice elements.”

Zhang Fei let out a soft sigh before speaking. ”Big Sis, the darkness and fire elements are different, but they are not opposing elements like fire and ice, so I can combine them easily.”

”I know.” Zhang Yue suddenly had an idea. ”Feiʼer, you have successfully combined your fire and darkness elements, so I want you to try combining your light and darkness elements.”

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei raised his eyebrows for a moment before opening his palms again, and his darkness and light elements instantly appeared on them. ”Step back first, Big Sis. I already understand your idea, but I have never tried combining these two opposing elements.”

After Zhang Yue moved away from him, Zhang Fei carefully tried to merge his light and darkness elements, but it immediately exploded and pushed him several steps back. ”Damn it! Itʼs not easy, Big Sis. We should try it in the training space.”

”All right.”

Soon, they entered the training space, and Zhang Fei immediately sat cross-legged while thinking about how to combine his light and darkness elements. Unlike combining his beast and demon forms, combining two opposing elements was truly difficult.

Zhang Yue sat slightly apart from Zhang Fei, her entire attention fixed on the elements of light and darkness on his palms. ʼIf Feiʼer could combine all his elements, he could create techniques that solely belonged to him, and he would definitely become truly powerful.ʼ

Once he felt ready, Zhang Fei tried to merge his light and darkness elements again, but he failed once again. He then withdrew his light element and used his fire element, and he tried to merge it with his darkness element from scratch to get the feeling.

ʼHmm? The feeling when combining my fire and darkness elements is completely different, and the two do not conflict with each other.ʼ Zhang Fei then withdrew his darkness element and replaced it with his wind element, reducing its intensity before bringing it closer to his ordinary fire.

*Swoosh*

Zhang Feiʼs fire instantly flared as soon as his wind element touched it, and it flared even more once he increased its intensity, causing its color to turn reddish green. ʼWind can be a support for fire, and vice versa, so itʼs not difficult to combine the two elements.ʼ

After he succeeded in combining the two elements, Zhang Fei then got up and tried a few things. First, he adjusted his fire so that it was dominant over his wind, then threw it far away, creating a powerful firestorm.

After that, Zhang Fei made his wind element more dominant than his fire element, but he did not throw it; he channeled it to both of his legs. Then, as he ran around the training ground at a steady pace, fire emerged with each step, creating a trail.

Once he was satisfied with the outcome, Zhang Fei immediately withdrew his fire element, replaced it with his darkness element, and attempted to combine it with his wind element. ʼWind and darkness, what would happen if I made one of them more dominant?ʼ

[I believe the outcome is similar to the fusion of your darkness and fire elements, Master. Perhaps you can create two new techniques by combining your darkness and wind elements, such as a wind scythe that merges with darkness. If you use such a technique at night, your enemies will definitely have a hard time avoiding your attacks, especially if you combine it with your darkness corruption.]

ʼYeah, youʼre right.ʼ
