Mr. Law's Official Announcement: He is a Wife-Doting Fanatic!

The elderly man with white hair and beard’s eyes lit up, striking the ground forcefully with his dragon-headed cane, with clear admiration in his eyes.

”So you are Cecilia Vaughn!”

”Old grandpa, have you heard of me?”

Cecilia Vaughn hesitated as she glanced at the man, secretly guessing whether he was the professor from Stellerton University.

After all, her grandfather had also once attended Stellerton University, albeit as an auditor, because his business had disrupted his studies. However, her grandmother was an arts enthusiast, and her grandfather willingly put aside various business opportunities to experience a bit of literary fragrance, to be closer to his wife.

Although her grandfather had already passed away, Cecilia Vaughn deeply appreciated his years of guidance that a scholar must never lose their pride.

Perhaps her grandfather hadn’t read as many books as her grandmother, but some things are engraved in one’s bones, resembling the charisma described in texts.

...

The old man laughed heartily.

”Of course I’ve heard of you, Vaughn Family’s eldest daughter, right? Back in the day, I once held you. Indeed, you’ve been well-instructed by Old Mr. Sutton, truly different from the others.”

The old gentleman gave Fiona Vaughn a meaningful glance, without saying anything, but the disdain in his eyes was already evident.

Fiona Vaughn was so angry that she nearly jumped.

If those classmates, who were overly idealistic, dismissed her flattering words, she could accept it, but for this old man, clearly a pedant, what right did he have to look down on her?

”Old sir, what do you mean by looking at me like that?”

Fiona Vaughn furrowed her delicate brows, her tone carrying a hint of impatience.

”Nothing...”

The old man looked at her with pity, then gently shook his head.

”Indeed, like breeds like.”

This second lady of the Vaughn Family, although renowned as Veridia’s national first love and has notable works in the entertainment circle, her poise and demeanor still fall far short compared to her half-sister standing beside her.

In the old man’s view, a person’s character is sometimes influenced by the previous generation.

This Miss Cecilia Vaughn, though plainly dressed and without makeup, he could hear from afar the way this girl spoke and acted, naturally satisfying him.

If not for...

The old man glanced with some regret at the man standing beside Cecilia Vaughn.

”You must be the eldest son of the Law Family, Adrian Law?”

He also had a somewhat disappointing grandson. Well, while others may consider him quite outstanding, but looking at Adrian Law, he felt dissatisfied.

Other matters aside, his grandson still hadn’t settled down, yet look at Adrian Law, not only is his family and career substantial, but he also managed to win over such an exceptional and delightful girl.

Others said Cecilia Vaughn didn’t deserve Adrian Law.

But from the old man’s perspective, quite the contrary, in this day and age, finding such a bright and composed girl as a life partner is exceedingly difficult.

Of course, this isn’t to say finding a boy with such qualifications is easy either.

No matter which gender such a promising young person belongs to, the result is equally valid.

...

Adrian Law didn’t know this old man, but seeing his attire in a long gown and his composed demeanor, he had already faintly guessed something.

He typically showed no emotion to others, but seeing the man openly appreciating his partner, coupled with his non-threatening old age, Adrian Law smiled and nodded slightly to the old gentleman.

”Yes, I am Adrian Law. Hello, may I know your esteemed name?”

”I am Yates, Yates as in ’Chess.’ I was also an alumnus of Stellerton University and took the opportunity to return and have a look around this time.”

”...”

People nearby, upon hearing this surname, couldn’t quite place it at first. However, Adrian Law, adept in these matters, recognized that the surname Yates, coupled with being a Stellerton University alumnus, and noticing the respect in the eyes of several university leaders when looking at the man...

Adrian Law suddenly understood.

Probably from the Yates Family in Southern Stellerton...

”Ah, it’s Old Mr. Yates, pardon my oversight.”

It’s rare for him to admire someone, but Old Mr. Yates is one of the few individuals Adrian Law respects in this world.

Old Mr. Yates practiced martial arts and stood up to defend the nation during Veridia’s most perilous times, saving the country from peril, embodying the aura of a great general. After retirement, he and his wife later established numerous free schools.

Old Mr. Yates’ partner, famous for her kindness, also started her career in education and nurturing.

These two individuals, however, were exceedingly humble, almost never accepting television interviews. Their children also inherited the integrity of both elders, dedicating themselves to the field of education or contributing to Veridia’s military and defense.

...

Many in the military deeply revere this old gentleman, even though Old Mr. Yates has retired, he holds significant clout across the nation.

Adrian Law couldn’t help but feel proud of Cecilia Vaughn for receiving such praise from someone of Old Mr. Yates’ stature.

”Cecilia, it seems Old Mr. Yates really likes you.”

Cecilia Vaughn looked at Adrian Law in surprise; she seldom saw him smile so genuinely, especially with that look of genuine respect and admiration towards an elder.

Even when facing his father, Adrian Law never had such an expression in his eyes.

Cecilia Vaughn wasn’t as quick-minded as Adrian Law. Although she had heard of Old Mr. Yates’ legendary deeds, there were too many people with the same surname out there, and since the man didn’t fully reveal his name, she didn’t make that connection.

Of course, even if she knew, she wouldn’t have any thoughts of associating with someone of higher status, only admiration.

”Hello, Old Mr. Yates.”

”All’s well, all’s well.”

Old Mr. Yates looked at Cecilia Vaughn and Adrian Law standing arm in arm, like a pair of jade couple, and felt even more satisfied.

Even though he regretted not having such a granddaughter-in-law himself, seeing a young couple so lovingly matched was indeed a delightful sight.

”It seems the two of you must be very harmonious after marriage. Truly, those newspapers just write nonsense.”

”Old sir, you read those gossip papers?”

Adrian Law was surprised, then slowly smiled warmly, gently holding his young wife’s hand.

”Cecilia and I are naturally fond of each other and will never change.”

Upon seeing Adrian Law’s frank and admirable expression, Old Mr. Yates already guessed that the young man had discerned his identity, making him admire Adrian Law even more. However, because of Adrian Law’s words, he couldn’t help but feel slightly embarrassed.

”Ahem... It’s just that my wife likes to buy the Stellerton Morning Post, so occasionally I flip through it.”

Fiona Vaughn found it even more amusing seeing Adrian Law and Cecilia Vaughn chatting with such an old miser.

Since when did these two start caring for the elderly?

Just because the other praised Cecilia Vaughn a few times?

What a waste of leisure, so overly narcissistic...
