Beast Beauty System: The Exiled Fox is Pampered in the Beast World

For one long second, nobody moved.

The clearing looked as though something enormous had fallen out of the sky and tried to take half the forest with it. Trees were splintered. Rock lay cracked open. The ground had been gouged into deep trenches, and the air carried the sharp metallic scent of blood under a heavier, stranger pressure that made the back of Anaria’s neck prickle.

At the center of the wreckage, half-collapsed against a shattered boulder, lay the dragon beastman.

He was huge.

Even injured, even unconscious, there was something excessive about him—too much power packed into one body, too much presence in the clearing, too much danger leaking off him for a man who wasn’t even awake. Long red hair spilled over his shoulders and across blood-soaked stone. One arm hung slack at his side. His chest rose so faintly Anaria had to stare to make sure he was still breathing.

The air around him felt wrong, warped by a faint heat that curled over the ruined ground.

Of course it was a dragon.

Because apparently her survival now depended on collecting half-dead men with catastrophic personal problems.

[Husband Candidate #2 located.]

Anaria stared at the glowing panel for half a beat, then at the dragon again.

”Fantastic,” she muttered. ”My life is now a public service.”

She took a step forward.

Rylan caught her wrist immediately.

His grip wasn’t rough, but it was firm enough to stop her dead. When she looked up, his expression had gone hard, all sharp focus and wary calculation as he stared at the male in the clearing.

”Don’t.”

Anaria arched a brow. ”That’s not a complete sentence.”

”It’s enough of one.” His fingers tightened once before releasing her. ”You’re not going near him.”

She looked from him to the dragon and back again. ”And why exactly?”

”Because he’s a dragon,” Rylan said flatly, as if that explained everything. ”Because we don’t know what happened here. Because if he wakes feral, he’ll kill you before you can blink.”

”How encouraging.”

Rylan ignored that. ”He’s unstable. You’re still weak. So stay back.”

Anaria folded her arms. ”You keep saying that as if I’ve forgotten I spent last night getting poisoned, exorcised, and nearly folded into cave furniture.”

”That should make you more cautious, not less.”

”It should make me very interested in not standing here while someone bleeds to death in front of me.”

His jaw tightened. ”This is not our problem.”

Anaria gave him a look so unimpressed it should have been taxable. ”Rylan, disaster is literally lying ten feet away radiating body heat. It became our problem the second we walked into the clearing.”

Before he could stop her again, she slipped past him and crossed the last stretch of torn ground.

Rylan swore behind her and followed.

Up close, the dragon looked even worse.

Anaria dropped into a crouch beside him and felt her stomach tighten. The blood wasn’t coming from a dozen shallow injuries. It was coming from one catastrophic wound high on his chest, just left of center, close enough to the heart that even her limited beastworld medical knowledge started ringing funeral bells.

The flesh around the injury looked wrong too—darkened at the edges, as if something deeper than skin had been damaged. His breathing came shallow and uneven, every inhale catching halfway as though his body couldn’t decide whether to keep fighting or give up. Beneath his skin, the muscles in his neck and shoulders were locked so tight they looked carved from stone.

This wasn’t injured.

This was barely alive.

Anaria leaned closer, frowning. ”That is aggressively bad.”

Rylan stopped at her shoulder. ”Move away from him.”

She ignored him and studied the wound again. Too much blood. Too close to the heart. And there was something else—some strange tension under the skin, a violent, unstable thrum she could almost feel without touching him, like his body was waging war against itself.

Before she could think through what that meant, the system interrupted.

[Emergency husband stabilization mission triggered.]

Anaria’s spine stiffened.

A larger panel opened in front of her eyes.

[Target: Husband Candidate #2.]

[Condition: Critical. Heart-core region compromised.]

[Objective: Prevent immediate death.]

[Reward: 800 Spirit Fang Coins, Beginner Purification Wash x1, Low-Grade Skin Recovery Serum x1.]

[Failure Penalty: Target death. Host beauty core backlash. Temporary scent collapse for thirty days.]

Anaria’s eyes locked onto the reward line.

Eight hundred coins.

Purification wash.

Skin recovery serum.

For one shining second, greed flickered through her soul like divine revelation.

Then she hit the penalty.

Her expression soured instantly.

”Oh, you manipulative little demon,” she hissed under her breath.

Thirty days of scent collapse? Was the system threatening to make her smell like despair for a month if the dragon died? That felt illegal.

[Immediate stabilization recommended.]

The dragon’s body jerked.

Anaria flinched back as a violent twitch ran through him, hard enough to drag a rough breath from his throat. His fingers flexed. The muscles in his arm spasmed. Fresh blood welled from the wound and slid over his skin in a dark sheet.

The system flashed again.

[Warning: Target core instability escalating.]

[Immediate stabilization required.]

The clearing seemed to tighten around her.

Rylan stepped in, voice clipped. ”Back away.”

Anaria rose into a crouch and turned to glare at him. ”He’s crashing.”

”I can see that.”

”Then stop telling me to back away.”

”I’m telling you because whatever is happening to him isn’t normal.” Rylan’s gaze stayed on the dragon, every line of him taut. ”Look at the wound. Look at the pressure in this clearing. If you touch him and he wakes wrong, you die first.”

”Lovely vote of confidence.”

”I’m serious.”

”So am I.”

Rylan finally looked at her, frustration flashing across his face. ”Anaria.”

The use of her name almost made her pause.

Almost.

She got to her feet fully and faced him. ”I’m not leaving him.”

His eyes narrowed. ”You don’t know him.”

”I don’t have to know him to know dying is inconvenient.”

”This is reckless.”

”Yes, and I would love to stop doing reckless things with wounded beastmen, but apparently the universe has scheduled me for back-to-back emergencies.”

”This is not a joke.”

”I know that.” Her voice sharpened. ”I also know he’s going to die if nobody does anything.”

Rylan’s mouth set into a hard line. ”And if he kills you for trying?”

Anaria smiled without humor. ”Then you can put ’I told you so’ on my grave.”

He looked one second away from physically removing her from the clearing.

Unfortunately for him, Anaria had already made up her mind.

The system had flagged the heart-core region. The wound was close to the heart. Whatever was wrong was centered there. Which meant the only thing she could do—short of standing around waiting for everyone’s day to get worse—was check the wound herself and try to stabilize whatever was happening before the dragon’s body gave out completely.

She exhaled once, steadying herself.

Then she turned back and knelt beside the dragon again.

”Anaria—”

”Complain later.”

She leaned over him carefully, ignoring the heat rolling off his skin, and reached toward the wound. Up close she could see how wrong the flesh looked, the faint dark spread beneath the blood, the subtle tremor running through his body as if some buried force kept striking against bone.

Her hand hovered over the injured area.

For one strange, suspended moment, the clearing went quiet.

No wind.

No birds.

No sound except the dragon’s ragged breathing and the pounding of Anaria’s own pulse in her ears.

She set her hand against the skin near the wound.

Everything happened at once.

The dragon’s eyes snapped open.

Gold.

Bright, molten, inhuman gold—burning straight through the haze of unconsciousness with pure violent instinct.

Anaria had time for exactly one startled inhale before a hand shot up and closed around her throat.

Hard.

The force of it ripped a sound out of her and sent her crashing backward onto the ruined ground. The dragon moved with terrifying speed for someone half-dead, surging up just enough to drag her with him as his fingers locked around her neck. Heat slammed into her. Her vision jolted. For one wild second all Anaria could see were those eyes—feral, unfocused, and murderous.

Oh, come on.

His grip tightened.

Anaria clawed at his wrist on instinct, breath catching as pressure cut off the air in her throat. The dragon was still bleeding, still half-collapsed, still visibly dying, and somehow he was also strong enough to crush her like an inconvenient fruit. There was no recognition in his face, no awareness, no mercy—just the brutal reflex of an apex predator lashing out at the nearest threat.

This, apparently, was how Husband Candidate #2 had chosen to introduce himself.

Somewhere to her left, Rylan swore and lunged forward.

The dragon’s head turned with a low, rough sound in his throat, his expression sharpening into something even more dangerous as if he’d sensed a second target. His grip on Anaria’s neck only tightened in response, pinning her in place against the churned earth.

The system chimed with criminal calm.

[Emergency husband stabilization mission active.]

Anaria stared up at a half-conscious dragon trying to throttle the life out of her and had the deeply offended thought that this was a terrible foundation for a relationship.

Rylan was moving.

The dragon was bleeding.

The mission was still active.

Anaria, trapped in the crushing grip of her second husband candidate, realized this was about to become everybody’s problem.
