Reborn As Super Heiress

Clearly, Zhou Shitao and the others were too busy rushing to drink the soup, having completely forgotten about Zhang Xiuchun and Zhang Xiaomei.

Although the ancient tomb mummy case had nothing to do with this mother and daughter, they were not in a hurry to leave.

On one hand, Zhang Xiuchun was interested in the burial items inside the ancient tomb; on the other hand, Zhang Xiaomei hoped to return to Xiang Province with Huo Sining to solve the silkworm seed problem sooner.

So last night, this mother and daughter also stayed at the archaeological team’s camp. Though the conditions were crude, they didn’t seem to mind at all, especially Zhang Xiuchun, who looked quite happy and appeared nostalgic about the environment and atmosphere of the archaeological team.

This is understandable, as this Old Granny reportedly hadn’t personally gone down a tomb for many years. If not for Zhou Shitao’s invitation, it would generally be difficult for anyone to invite her.

Perhaps the noise on this side was too loud, as before Huo Sining could instruct Su Qingqing to call them, Zhang Xiaomei was already assisting Zhang Xiuchun to come over. Both were staring intensely at the soup in Huo Sining’s pot, looking very curious.

”What’s cooking here that smells so good!?”

Zhang Xiaomei asked curiously, peeking into the pot to see what was cooking inside.

Huo Sining explained with a smile, ”This is vegetable soup. I used a special method to dehydrated the vegetables and mushrooms with herbs and seasoning packs and vacuum-sealed them. Just boil water and throw the vegetable pack in, simmer it a bit and it’s ready to drink. It supplements vitamins and detoxifies to relieve fatigue.”

Zhang Xiaomei was a bit surprised; the soup smelled good, but was it really tasty? It seemed quite light, but seeing Zhou Shitao and Xie Daoyuan eagerly scoop it into their bowls, she thought otherwise.

She relayed Huo Sining’s explanation to Zhang Xiuchun, and Zhang Xiuchun became interested too, gesturing for her daughter to bring her a bowl while giving a thumbs-up to Huo Sining, praising:

”Your method is excellent. The archaeological team is often in the wilderness, eating instant noodles and dry food for months without vegetables, leading to constipation and heat issues. Drinking vegetable soup is very necessary!”

Saying that, Zhang Xiuchun took the bowl handed by Zhang Xiaomei and took a careful sip.

As the soup entered, her eyes lit up instantly, and she asked Huo Sining curiously:

”What’s added in this soup? Can it be mass-produced? This soup is delicious. If the archaeological team universally had this, it would be a great benefit!”

Huo Sining hesitated, then showed a slightly awkward smile:

”Professor Zhang, this is a secret technique, it’s from my sect and can’t be shared.”

Clearly, the sect Huo Sining mentioned had nothing to do with Zhou Shitao. Though Huo Sining didn’t explain, Zhang Xiaomei and Zhang Xiuchun could guess she must have had another sect inheritance before apprenticing with Zhou Shitao.

Zhang Xiuchun wasn’t an obstinate elder who didn’t understand flexibility. She knew well that many hidden families had secret techniques that couldn’t be shared, so although slightly disappointed, she didn’t insist, only lamenting:

”That’s a pity. Such a nice thing, if it could be promoted, would be very good for archaeological personnel...”

Huo Sining also felt regret but was helpless. Unless enhanced by her Spiritual Energy, it was just regular vegetable soup, bland and not very appealing.

Her Spiritual Energy couldn’t be used liberally, nor could it be widely publicized. If it was promoted, it might bring trouble, possibly attracting scientific crazies wanting to research her.

She certainly wouldn’t risk herself to fulfill Zhang Xiuchun’s request; doing good deeds is fine if she’s safe.

The professors drank a big bowl of soup, not at all disdainful of the steamed buns and fried dough sticks from the scenic area cafeteria, enjoying their breakfast with the soup before heading down the tomb.

Guo Dongliang and Zhang Shuang didn’t need Huo Sining to organize them; they helped themselves to the soup. Tasting its freshness, they were completely convinced and understood why the professors and team members said what they did before.

Indeed, the soup was too delicious, soothing the whole body and washing away fatigue from the past few days.

Zhang Shuang almost felt like swallowing her tongue, and cast aside restraint, eagerly refilled her bowl after finishing the first.

Meanwhile, Chen Xiaolong seized the chance while people were scrambling for soup to secretly fill a small bottle. He quickly pocketed it, then casually drank the remaining soup in his bowl.

Admittedly, the soup made by Huo Sining was unexpectedly tasty.

But Chen Xiaolong only had a sip or two before forcibly restraining his urge for more. Instead, when nobody noticed, he poured his bowl of soup into the nearby bushes.

Being a criminal investigation officer, he was very alert to abnormalities. Could a bowl of vegetable soup really taste this delicious?

This definitely wasn’t logical, and he noticed Huo Sining didn’t employ any technique making this soup; anyone could easily do it.

With such poor culinary skills yet making such a delicious soup, there must be something fishy.

At least until determining what was added in the soup, he definitely wouldn’t drink more!

He wanted to see what was in the soup that made so many people addicted after drinking!

Chen Xiaolong firmly believed this Huo Sining was hypocritical and vain, with ulterior motives for making this soup. He was convinced there was something in the soup, an addictive ingredient!

Stealing the soup sample gave him peace of mind, as he could send it to a friend at the assessment department, who would soon analyze it for him.

He did this secretly, deviating from Director Guo Dongliang’s intent, so naturally, it couldn’t be reported, planning to rely on familiar connections secretly.

He was waiting for the test results to come out, to slap the problematic report in Guo Dongliang and Zhang Shuang’s faces. Then he’d see how they’d respond!
