Reborn As Super Heiress

”Quick! Call the police!”

As soon as he saw the situation, Zhou Shitao’s face changed dramatically, and he immediately wanted to call the police to handle it.

No one anticipated such a change, even Xie Daoyuan and Shi Qingyun were a bit stunned.

”Director He!”

”Anya!”

”Xiao Xiaoxing!”

”...”

The archaeological staff kept shouting the names of the people who had disappeared into the empty main tomb chamber, but there was no response, as if these people had vanished into thin air within this space.

Huo Sining, however, was not as nervous as these people; in fact, she felt that this might not be something the police could solve.

Her eyes scanned the entire main tomb chamber and quickly noticed something wrong with the space.

The room was empty, with none of the dazzling objects or central coffin she had seen earlier in the Yunling Ancient Tomb’s main chamber. It looked more like an altar, with numerous stone platforms placed around irregularly, unlike any typical main tomb chamber.

Huo Sining, having seen some things, quickly realized what was going on.

Ge Hong was well-versed in Daoist magics such as arrays and talismans, as evidenced by the Gathering Yin Formation in the adjacent secret room.

To an outsider, these stone columns and the seemingly unrelated lines on the tomb chamber floor might appear illogical, but to Huo Sining, they meant something significant.

It’s an array!

She was almost instantly certain that this place was very likely set up with an array that causes people to get lost!

The purpose of this array was probably to ensure that those who entered the main tomb chamber would not come out!

This revelation surprised and alarmed Huo Sining, making her wary of the array. When Zhou Shitao still wanted to rush in, Huo Sining quickly grabbed him, using some force to stop his next move.

”Master, don’t go in, it’s useless!” Huo Sining immediately realized that the archaeological team couldn’t handle this, and they needed to call in a professional.

To confirm her judgment, Huo Sining squatted down, pretending to tie her shoelaces, and in an unnoticed moment, placed her hand on the tomb chamber floor.

Though it was only a matter of seconds, she quickly sensed the conditions inside the main tomb chamber through the Spiritual Pearl. Sure enough, those people were still in the chamber, but the array blocked their vision, preventing them from finding anyone.

Director He and the others were already lost in the array, running around like headless chickens, and unless a solution was found, they might be trapped inside until death. Huo Sining frowned and decisively shouted into the walkie-talkie to Huang Zhenlong above:

”Director Huang, please call Bai Buzhi, his number is *******!”

Others might not understand, but Bai Buzhi was an expert in this field. He would surely be very interested in an array inside a thousand-year ancient tomb.

Director Huang didn’t understand what Huo Sining meant, but Zhou Shitao knew what Bai Buzhi did. Seeing Huo Sining’s determined look, he agreed with her decision without hesitation:

”Old Huang, do as Huo says, inform Bai Buzhi of the situation here. Help Mr. Bai with whatever he needs!”

Huang Zhenlong had learned from the monitors that there was an issue in the tomb. With Zhou Shitao being so serious, he dared not neglect it and hurried off to make the call.

The archaeologists were unable to comprehend what had happened. The more timid ones began to cry, and some were paranoid, thinking that they had encountered zombies or ghosts, turning pale with fear and shouting about going home.

Huo Sining was left speechless at the reaction of these supposedly trained professionals, who at the first sign of trouble, reverted to superstitious beliefs about ghosts and spirits.

”Everyone, don’t panic. This is just an illusion. The main tomb chamber has an array that traps those who enter like a maze. Without finding the Gate of Life, they’ll be stuck like a ghost hitting the wall.”

”Our line of sight is blocked by the array, so we can’t see what’s inside. But in reality, Director He and the others are still in there, not vanished, just trapped. Once the array is broken, they’ll be able to get out.”

”So there’s no need to be afraid; it’s just a trick by the tomb owner, nothing as dangerous as you imagine.”

Huo Sining explained to everyone.

Perhaps it was Huo Sining’s calm assurance, or maybe her status as Zhou Shitao’s apprentice and her own credentials, but after she spoke, the archaeological team finally calmed down. They looked at each other and no longer insisted on going home.

Though still puzzled, everyone steadied themselves, exchanging looks and finding the idea of an array incredible.

”Isn’t that stuff only in TV shows and novels? Is it actually real?”

Someone couldn’t help but ask.

Huo Sining shrugged. If she hadn’t encountered arrays thrice before, she might also have thought it was a fictional creation, but the truth was these things exist and they are powerful.

Finally, Huang Zhenlong connected the call. As Huo Sining anticipated, upon hearing there was an issue at Luofu Mountain related to an array, Bai Buzhi immediately swallowed his words of refusal and eagerly interrogated Huang Zhenlong for details about the array, preparing to rush over.

Huang Zhenlong was busy arranging Bai Buzhi’s travel since several people were trapped in the ancient tomb, their lives unknown. Despite Huo Sining’s assurance that they were fine, no one would dare joke about it, and Zhou Shitao was so concerned that he unprecedentedly applied for a helicopter to fly directly to Luofu Mountain.
