Reborn As Super Heiress

Early that morning, Huo Sining, as per her usual routine, got up early to cook vegetable soup for several professors. Unexpectedly, before she could even put the vegetable packet into the pot, a few unexpected guests arrived.

Zhang Shuang winked at Huo Sining with a smile on his face, ”I heard that your vegetable packet here is exceptional. Director Guo and I came by to ask for a bowl of soup. You don’t mind adding a few more bowls, do you?”

Huo Sining looked at Guo Dongliang and the person standing behind him, Chen Xiaolong, with some surprise. When she saw Chen Xiaolong staring intently at the soup pot in front of her, the corner of her mouth couldn’t help but twitch slightly.

”It’s just a few bowls of soup, what’s there to mind? As long as you don’t find my breakfast too simple and unpalatable, it’s fine with me.”

Zhang Shuang and the others had already heard from the archaeological team members yesterday that Huo Sining’s vegetable soup was something special. Hearing Huo Sining say this, they naturally understood she was just being modest and didn’t truly believe the soup was bland and ordinary.

However, it was Chen Xiaolong, behind Guo Dongliang, who glanced at the few vegetable packets beside Huo Sining, his eyes flickering as if he wanted to say something.

It was unclear what Zhang Shuang had said to Guo Dongliang yesterday, but early in the morning, after learning they were heading to the archaeological team’s camp, Guo Dongliang also expressed his interest in coming and even warned Chen Xiaolong not to act recklessly.

Although Guo Dongliang wasn’t speaking at this moment, he was keeping an eye on Chen Xiaolong’s actions. Seeing that Chen Xiaolong seemed eager to make a move again, Guo Dongliang raised his eyebrow, showing signs of getting angry.

Chen Xiaolong naturally didn’t dare to act too presumptuously in front of Guo Dongliang. Seeing Guo Dongliang’s sharp gaze directed at him, he quickly shut up and didn’t dare to say more.

However, he was not entirely convinced in his heart. He secretly observed, calculated, and planned to quietly take out an empty bottle from his pocket later to collect a sample of the vegetable soup to test it.

He couldn’t believe it; how could this vegetable soup be so delicious that so many people were addicted to it? If there’s nothing fishy about it, he might as well write his name on it!

As for Zhang Shuang and their unexpected visit, Huo Sining wasn’t flustered at all. She continued working as usual, and when the water in the soup pot boiled, she cut open the vegetable packet and dumped all the vegetables inside into the pot.

After stirring it a few times with a spoon, she covered the pot, so Zhang Shuang and the others couldn’t see anything unusual.

However, the way Huo Sining prepared it was so simple it couldn’t be simpler. Never mind a five-star chef; even someone with no cooking skills could make this soup.

But the simpler it appeared, the more puzzled and confused Zhang Shuang and the others were.

This soup seemed to lack any skill. Could it truly be as delicious as the archaeological team members claimed? Weren’t they exaggerating the flavor to attest to Huo Sining’s skills?

Not to mention Chen Xiaolong, even Zhang Shuang, a friend of Huo Sining, found it hard to believe that a vegetable soup cooked so simply could taste so good. Wasn’t this too far-fetched?

Zhang Shuang frowned, glancing towards Guo Dongliang and Chen Xiaolong, then back at Huo Sining, inadvertently displaying some concern in her eyes.

She wanted to remind Huo Sining, but with Guo Dongliang involved, Zhang Shuang couldn’t be too obvious and could only worry silently.

However, her concern was evidently unnecessary. Before she could figure out a solution for Huo Sining, the vegetable soup on the stove began to boil and emitted a special aroma around them.

Zhang Shuang, who had been looking worried, paused as she caught a whiff of the scent, and her expression instantly changed.

”Wow, this aroma...”

Standing beside her, Guo Dongliang clearly smelled the aroma too. He raised his eyebrow, turned back, took a deep breath, and couldn’t help but clap his hands and laugh:

”This soup is rich with a pure, savory aroma. No wonder so many people say your vegetable soup is unmatched. It’s indeed remarkable! Haha, it looks like coming here today was a good idea. We’re in for a treat!”

Upon hearing Guo Dongliang’s words, Chen Xiaolong’s face instantly darkened, and his gaze shifted to Huo Sining, filled with gloom.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but smile at Chen Xiaolong, even with a hint of provocation.

Seeing Huo Sining’s dazzling smile, Chen Xiaolong’s mood worsened.

But Guo Dongliang and Zhang Shuang didn’t notice the exchange between Huo Sining and Chen Xiaolong. These two food lovers, even before tasting the soup, were already won over by the vegetable soup and had practically forgotten their original purpose for coming.

Chen Xiaolong was infuriated to see the reactions of the director and Zhang Shuang and felt even more wary of Huo Sining.

This woman is as cunning and difficult as expected!

While Huo Sining continued to earnestly cook the soup, the aroma seemed to signal the others in the tents, prompting them to get up and follow the scent, still half-asleep.

Seeing those supposedly learned gentlemen professors, now with disheveled hair, disregarding their image, crowding around the stove with eager faces waiting to be fed, both Guo Dongliang and Zhang Shuang were dumbfounded, even Chen Xiaolong was speechless.

Huo Sining was already used to this scene. Seeing Zhou Shitao reaching out to scoop the soup, she couldn’t help but smack the back of his hand, playfully scolding:

”You should wash up first before having soup; there’s plenty for everyone!”

If anyone else dared to treat Zhou Shitao this way, the old man might flip out, but coming from Huo Sining, he wasn’t the slightest bit angry. Instead, like a child, he scratched the back of his head, still trying to coax her.

Seeing Huo Sining’s stern yet unyielding expression, the old man sighed, turned, and reluctantly went to brush his teeth and wash his face.

Before long, Xie Daoyuan and Huang Zhenlong rushed over, gesturing towards Huo Sining:

”Huo girl, look, we’re done washing first, hurry and serve us some soup; we’re starving, starving!”

Seeing this, Zhou Shitao, worried that his friends might finish the soup, quickly brushed his teeth, washed his face, and hurried over, shouting, ”Save some for me, save some, and you all take less!”

Huo Sining was quite helpless, ”I’ve cooked plenty today; we can cook more if it’s not enough. Really, professors, couldn’t you first invite Professor Zhang and the others over, instead of just thinking about yourselves?”
