Reborn As Super Heiress

Chapter 145: Chapter 142: He’s Here, Please Close Your Eyes

Wu Jun was watching the shop at Xianyu Shop, languishing in boredom, when he received a call from Huo Sining, saying that a batch of goods needed to be delivered to S City and asked him to send them directly to Huo Sining’s new villa after receiving them.

Wu Jun knew that Huo Sining had gone to the Pingzhou gambling stones. Being a person from Yunli, he was of course no stranger to gambling on stones.

He actually wanted to go to Pingzhou with Huo Sining, but if he left, there would be no one to manage Xianyu Shop, and he simply couldn’t break away.

He reported the matter to Gu Xu, who replied with a “got it” and then hung up the phone.

Wu Jun didn’t know if the captain was angry or not, felt nervous for a while, but soon let it go.

The captain wanted him to report Huo Sining’s situation, and Wu Jun intuitively felt that the captain didn’t want to harm Huo Sining, so he reported it.

...

But if he really had to choose, he would certainly still listen to Huo Sining.

Although the captain had been kind to him, he had retired from military service and was no longer under the army.

Now Huo Sining was his true employer, and Huo Sining had been genuinely kind to him and Yaya, he was happy to follow such an employer for life.

Recently, Gu Xu had investigated the kinship between Huo Sining and the Huang Family, and thereby traced back to the Liang Family, gaining further understanding of Huo Sining’s background.

He had heard of the name Liang Ruining while serving as the captain of the Falcon Special Forces, never expecting that this person left a posthumous child.

Gu Xu didn’t know why he was paying so much attention to Huo Sining’s movements during this period, maybe because she had saved his life on a rainy night, maybe because he learned about the girl’s hard fate, or maybe because of the girl’s déjà vu gaze and indescribable emotions when she looked at him.

Gu Xu himself couldn’t pin down the exact reason, although they had only met in a hurry three times, but whenever it involved that girl, he would unconsciously pay attention and get anxious.

In his many years of military service, participating in countless dangerous missions, he had always been calm and wise, but only when dealing with this strange girl would his emotions be uncontrollably irrational.

Just like now, upon learning from Wu Jun that Huo Sining had gone to Pingzhou, he bizarrely accepted Qin Tian’s invitation, and it wasn’t until he sat on the plane to Guangzhou with Qin Tian and Ouyang Jun that he realized, he seemed to have made the first foolish decision of his life.

“Song Hui must be freaking out, the three of us are going out to have fun while leaving him alone in the Imperial Capital,” Qin Tian said with a delighted grin on his face.

Ouyang Jun glanced at Gu Xu, who was pursing his lips and looking out the window next to him, feeling very puzzled, “I must say Xu Zi, you workaholic are actually skipping work to play with us, breaking precedent for the first time ever. What’s going on that makes you want to go to Pingzhou to gamble on stones with us? Aren’t you uninterested in our debaucheries? Why break the habit today?”

Hearing the words “break the habit,” Qin Tian couldn’t help but snicker, “You used the right term there. You don’t gamble, consort, or smoke, you’re practically a fastidious, ascetic monk abstaining from worldly pleasures. Ah, who are you keeping yourself so clean for? Look at Huizi, then look at me and Jun Zi, aren’t we living more comfortably than you? You go to work and home on time every day, don’t you find life terribly dull? Can’t you add a little spice to your existence?”

Gu Xu exuded an aura of coldness, casting a slight glance at Qin Tian. Qin Tian, frightened by his murderous gaze, quickly conceded, “You get angry the moment I mention it, fine, fine, I won’t say it. Enjoy your prime years like this, but you’ll regret it later.”

Huo Sining was still unaware that a certain man she dreaded had silently arrived in Foshan and was staying at the same hotel, just one floor apart from her room.

To participate in the Pingzhou Public Plate, one needs to apply for a membership card, and two members who have been members for over a year are required to act as guarantors.

However, these were not issues for Su Jinyuan, an old member. In the afternoon, he brought back the Public Plate admission tickets he had processed, distributed them to Su Qingqing and the other two, and explained all the rules, procedures, and precautions of participating in the Public Plate one by one.

The three women had never attended a jade gambling event before and only gained a preliminary understanding of the jadeite gambling market in the past two days.

The waters in jade gambling run too deep, and there’s so much to learn; it’s not something three newbies can just fumble through by casually buying a few pieces of “brick material” and hoping to grasp it all.

Therefore, Su Jinyuan did not feel at ease with them and repeatedly cautioned them to look and listen more and to refrain from making hasty decisions.

After cutting into the five pieces of “brick material” she had picked out in the morning and finding nothing, Su Qingqing’s spirits plummeted from the peak to the trough, and she gradually cooled down from her initial frenzy, thankfully no longer as reckless as before.

After a good night’s sleep, they had breakfast early the next day and headed to the Jade Public Auction Trading Market in Pingzhou, where countless jade gamblers holding admission tickets were waiting in a massive square.

The standard pitches of various big companies were lined up across the square. These companies usually hold small Public Plates at irregular intervals to attract jade merchants for trading, but this time, due to the collective opening, the raw materials were all carefully selected, with appearances and qualities far surpassing those brick-materials from Jade Street.

At 7:30 a.m., half an hour before the opening, the square was already bustling with people craning their necks in anticipation of the event.

Huo Sining and her companions stood on the periphery of the square, not squeezing in to join the excitement. The open bidding at the standard pitch would last for a full ten days, giving them ample time to view the offerings without any rush.

By 8:30 a.m., the crowd on the square suddenly became noisy. Huo Sining looked over with curiosity and saw staff members walking out of several gates in the fence, indicating that it was time to open.

When the gates opened, a throng of people surged into the trading market, flashing their membership cards as they entered. Before long, the square began to gradually empty.

Huo Sining and her group were also preparing to walk inside, but after only a few steps, Su Jinyuan stopped, looking up in surprise at a few people not far off.

Following Su Jinyuan’s gaze, Huo Sining saw two men walking towards them, one of whom was Gu Xu, whom she hadn’t seen for a long time.

“Mr. Gu, what are you doing here?”

It seemed Su Jinyuan hadn’t expected to encounter Gu Xu here either. He paused, then quickly started to greet him.

Gu Xu nodded, offering a simple explanation, “Mr. Su, long time no see. I’m just accompanying a friend here for fun.”

After saying this, his gaze suddenly swept over to Huo Sining, giving her a deep look.

Huo Sining couldn’t help but shrink back slightly, instinctively avoiding Gu Xu’s penetrating glance.
