Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Five million people gathered can lead a city to glory, five million people rioting can also drag a city into the abyss.

Three seconds after the box fell into the hole, an audible sound wave swept across all the zombies present.

The Tier Two Zombies pursuing the Black Kite Special Service personnel stopped instantly, their scarlet eyes flashing, then letting out a piercing howl, followed by hundreds of Tier One Zombies, their voices spreading layer by layer, and finally, hundreds of thousands of ordinary zombies.

It’s like a massive flesh megaphone made of five million sound sources.

The whole Zhijin City trembled under the corpse roar!

The boiling zombie horde flowed like a tidal wave, crashing against buildings, spreading in all directions.

Suddenly, a six-meter-tall Tier Two Butcher in the zombie horde lifted its head with a trace of astonishment on its plump face as something even thinner than its finger flew straight at its head.

The Butcher instinctively gripped the bronze statue in its hand, swinging it as if playing baseball.

”Boom—”

A massive explosion erupted at the instant of contact.

A figure with a gold kite pinned at the collar discarded the rocket launcher, fleeing swiftly.

The explosion seized the entire zombie tide’s attention, and the figure fled towards Weinan District where the rival factions were located.

...

”What’s going on?”

The Jinfeng president’s heart skipped a beat as he listened to the furious corpse roars from across the bridge, ”Could it be some faction attacking over there?”

Old Xie was in a frantic mess, his pack of wolves injured during an attempt to surround a Tier Two Night Demon. One of the wolves was whimpering continuously while the rest barked endlessly. As he soothed the uneasy wolves, Old Xie dismissed the idea.

”Impossible, both Fuyuan and Tiejian City are useless, they haven’t even touched the bridge yet. Black Star is indeed a dark horse, but their progress is merely akin to ours at Jinfeng, just reaching the bridge today, haven’t cleared the nearby districts yet. How could they dare—”

Halfway through the sentence, the two men simultaneously thought of a possibility, exclaiming together.

”Black Kite!”

Old Xie’s expression grew serious, ”Indeed, it’s possible. Black Kite’s strength vastly surpasses ours. If they want to seize control, maybe they’ve already crossed the bridge. We have to quicken our pace too.”

The Jinfeng president listened to the boiling corpse roars across the way, sensing something amiss, ”Don’t rush, we’ve been fighting for over ten days. When exhausted is the time to exercise more caution. Let Black Kite test the waters first; we try crossing tomorrow.”

”Let’s do as you say.” Old Xie shouted to his subordinates, ”Set up two more heavy machine guns here, aim towards the bridge to guard against zombies rushing the checkpoint at night!”

As they were proposing heavy machine guns, a fast-running figure suddenly appeared over the bridge.

Wearing a quick-dry shirt, covered in massive dark stains, wearing a sports watch, hair dry and falling, revealing veins bulging on the scalp, with forearms structured like blades, positioning vertically when reaching forward, horizontally when pulling back, gaining greater air propulsion like diving flippers.

On his sturdy thighs, robust muscle fibers were exposed, while his calves were so thin the leg bones’ shape could be discerned.

Scarlet eyes gazed at the two men as if seeing the finish line, sprinting madly.

”It’s a Hunter! Prepare to fire!”

”No, wait!”

Old Xie keenly noted the vibrations underfoot weren’t right; a Tier One Hunter alone wouldn’t cause such commotion.

Before he could climb to a higher vantage, more zombie heads rose over the bridge’s highest point, rushing toward the bridge edge like marathon runners trailing the lead.

”A zombie tide!”

Old Xie’s eyes darkened, ”Get two hundred more people here, I can handle this. Go check what’s up with Black Kite...”

The two men had forged such substantial power during the apocalypse, witnessed numerous scenarios, they wouldn’t be easily intimidated by a zombie tide. Yet the roaring corpses ahead made them suspect something within.

”It’s unnecessary, I’ve arranged people to monitor Black Kite already. If anything happens, they would’ve reported back.”

Just as the Jinfeng president spoke, the heavy machine guns started firing, and someone swiftly ran up to the two men breathlessly, ”President, Black Kite has fled!”

Old Xie’s pupils contracted, not yet spoken before his old partner’s shout rang out beside him.

”Retreat! Everyone, retreat!”

But the command was given too late.

As he shouted, the river surface was already covered in densely packed human heads, pairs of scarlet eyes covetously fastened on the Jinfeng convoy at the shore.

”Bang!”

A jumper descended from above, smashing the nearby abandoned vehicle into a large pit.

Before rising, it was promptly killed by the prepared crowd, yet more jumpers descended from the sky.

The Night Demon covered the entire bridge, wherever the eyes went, zombies were visible. Thousands of ordinary zombies, hundreds of Tier One Zombies, and opposite the shore, those mountain-like terrifying figures.

The numbers exceeded their bullets!

How could they fight?

”Fire! Fire!”

”Don’t run!”

The Jinfeng president yelled furiously at the machine gunners scurrying away in terror.

But their reason was crushed by Fear at once, the instinct to flee won over everything, even faced with immediate execution, those few figures were still engulfed in soul-deep dread.

Once blinded by Fear, defeat was only a moment away.

The frontline convoy of over a thousand instantly fell into chaos, forgetting they were armed.

Some struggled to squeeze into the vehicles, but the street’s abandoned vehicles already made it narrow, let alone Jinfeng had arranged dozens of cars here as temporary barriers, the SUVs squeezed together without giving way, directly jammed into a heap.
