Armed Train in the Apocalypse

With the information provided by Wan Hao.

Just as the conductor was sipping his coffee, He Jie and his men had broken through the security at the train manufacturing base. Before the bitter taste had faded from his mouth, Director of the Shun’an Train Manufacturing Plant was already exhibiting a leadership attitude, introducing the entire base to him.

”I heard the entire manufacturing base covers five square kilometers, equivalent to a small town?”

Su Huan, holding a mug in his left hand, with half a cup of black coffee inside, pointed at the large factory building ahead and asked.

The director felt bitter at heart, but on the surface maintained a dignified yet courteous smile, responded enthusiastically, ”The conductor is right, the entire factory site covers 4.8 square kilometers, with 2.5 square kilometers for the production area, the rest being supplementary areas. Not to mention in Qingchuan, even nationwide, our Shun’an is among the top manufacturing bases.”

”How many people are there?”

”Over five thousand.”

”Only over five thousand?”

The director smiled bitterly, ”It’s just... the disaster struck too suddenly. Initially, there was some chaos, but things have improved lately. We accounted for surrounding families and gathered some survivors, so there are just over five thousand people now.”

”How many workers?”

”More than three thousand are workers, along with many experts related to trains.”

The director caught Su Huan’s drift quickly and spoke up.

Su Huan asked some base data carelessly while walking inside.

To preserve the base’s appearance, the armed train did not violently break through; most of the defense buildings remained intact, including the 3.5-meter high reinforced concrete walls, topped with a 1.2-meter high voltage electric grid, infrared surveillance cameras every 200 meters, and face recognition turnstiles at the entrances.

The turnstiles were no longer useful, but the walls and cameras retained their original functions.

Unfortunately, for Evolvers who can jump five to six meters, the walls seem a bit low.

Following the steps of bases from the past life, either strengthen the armed forces or continue making them higher.

Make them harder, thicker, even sealing the entire base completely.

As long as zombies don’t evolve to a large scale to the second tier, the problem isn’t big.

Coming inside, one can see the tall car body manufacturing center, with several hundred meters long silver steel structure buildings, and photovoltaic panels on the roof.

Next to it is the final assembly joint building, with a 10-kilometer circular closed track for testing trains all around it.

”The core parts zone has three standard gauge lines directly connected to the national railway network, allowing trains to bypass and enter the enclosed route from there.”

After chatting a few sentences and seeing Su Huan was easy to talk to, the director softly warned.

”No need for so much trouble.” Su Huan raised his hand, ”Bring it in.”

”Bring it in?”

The director was momentarily stunned, noticing the two armed personnel behind Su Huan not moving, he didn’t know who Su Huan was talking to.

Suddenly, a whistle blew from outside the base.

Gravel and railroad ties lifted into the air as metal tracks were kneaded in the sky like noodles, clattering together to form tracks, extending towards the enclosed track ahead.

The armed train clanged its way in through the front gate, entering the closed track.

The director watched this magical scene with wide-eyed amazement, after a while he recovered, holding even more respect for Su Huan.

A burly man, like a bear, quickly strode over.

He Jie hadn’t arrived yet, but his loud voice had already reached Su Huan’s ears, ”The personnel in the manufacturing base are mainly concentrated in the employee living area. They not only have a family residential area but also a matching elementary school and community hospital, which have already been controlled by us. Hu Shuo is conducting a count, the Armed Corps is eliminating risks within the base.”

Su Huan nodded, ”Let Wan Hao and Professor Ma come over to meet the train manufacturing experts.”

He suddenly discovered an interesting phenomenon.

Whether it was Wan Hao’s car manufacturing plant or the train manufacturing base, none had experienced those inhumane tragedies.

The majority still maintained pre-doomsday order.

Those harboring ill will occasionally would be suppressed by the order maintained by the majority.

However, in regions where original interpersonal relationships were destroyed, it was easier for malicious incidents to occur.

Indulging desires, becoming beasts.

...

Carriage No. 12.

Professor Ma’s experimental table resembled a space environment, with all clutter floating around him.

Disassembled old-style phones, remote controls, radios, signal source devices, encoders… all parts were neatly floating mid-air, facing a Pan-energy Crystal connected by fiber optics and some electronic components, he was reconstructing these hardware using simple and primitive methods.

When the message arrived, Professor Ma lifted his somewhat graying eyebrows, meticulously recorded the experiment in a thick notebook.

”Alright, I know, I’ll head over now.”

The surrounding objects slowly descended, orderly landing on the table and into surrounding cabinets.

After tidying up the table, he stood up with his notes, glancing at the busy students, and asked, ”Where did Xiaozhao go?”

”Senior brother just went back to coordinate with Director Xu, he will return shortly.”

The little box responded crisply.

At this moment, a tall and handsome young man, about 1.8 meters tall, rushed in from the back carriage, carrying many files.

”Professor, did you call me?”

Professor Ma turned to look at his prized student, smiling slightly, ”The conductor called me over to meet with the manufacturing base’s train experts. You should come with me, make sure all data is prepared, no mistakes.”

Xiaozhao nodded, ”It’s all ready, I also heard the news at Director Xu’s side, they are already prepared to go over.”
