Armed Train in the Apocalypse

Facing the wind, he said in a low voice, ”Old Liang, the automobile factory has front and back gates. Later, I’m going to the back to catch them. I need you and Xiaoba to break in from the front and give them enough pressure.”

Liang Kuan leaned out, clearly saw the position of the front gate on the map, and said in a muffled voice, ”Understood.”

The sound was like two giant stones colliding, rumbling loudly.

It made He Jie’s chest feel itchy.

Soon, the automobile factory, with a total area of three square kilometers, appeared in front of the convoy.

The originally wide road was completely blocked by abandoned vehicles, and through the gaps, a tall welded steel door could be seen.

The three-meter-high wall was additionally equipped with a one-meter high steel plate, its top bent outward to prevent zombies from climbing over.

But this level of fortification couldn’t stop Tier One Zombies. The real defense was the Iron-Eating Trees planted around the factory area, with piles of discarded metal around their bases.

It was obviously lured beside the walls by humans.

High cameras turned with the movement of the convoy, and a warning sounded from the loudspeaker, ”This is the Shun’an First Automobile Factory, outsider convoy, please stop advancing. You are not welcome here. If you continue, we will take coercive measures...”

”Bang!”

The soldier driving pulled out a pistol and precisely shot out the loudspeaker and camera.

”So much talk!” Liang Kuan sneered inside the car, ”Prepare for battle!”

With the command given, the convoy suddenly accelerated, but the target wasn’t the iron gate stacked far back with abandoned vehicles. Instead, they charged directly toward the walls.

Who fights a proper battle by going through the gates!

Soldiers climbed out of the car windows, mounted grenade launchers on their assault rifles, and fired twice at the wall ahead.

”Boom boom—”

After a brief explosion, the wall crumbled with a roar, and the Iron-Eating Trees on either side were torn to shreds, pulling up their roots and running aside.

”Bang!”

Relying on its strong armor, the armored personnel carrier directly charged through the shattered ruins.

Forcing open a gap five meters wide.

The metal caltrops behind the wall flew up out of nowhere and were lifted aside, as a strong figure kicked open the car door, dragging a metal shield weighing over a hundred pounds towards the building ahead.

The entire automobile manufacturing center consisted of six factory buildings, arranged in long strips, squarely placed in the center, only the surroundings were filled with many artificial barriers.

Throughout the crisscrossed fortifications, there were still many traces of blood.

There had been an organized ambush here, only the bodies had been collected by the survivors.

Gunshots rang crisply from the building over there.

Liang Kuan’s burly figure nimbly dodged the bullets, sprinting towards the foremost building.

”Bang!”

The shield weighing over a hundred pounds was thrown like a boomerang, piercing the rolling shutters.

Liang Kuan, like a tiger out of its cage, reached the building in a single breath, leaping up and kicking the edge of the metal shield, plummeting through the shattered rolling shutters and glass into the automobile factory.

The methods were shockingly violent.

The effect was unexpectedly better than He Jie anticipated by ten thousand times!

Which commanding officer wouldn’t like such a fierce subordinate?

He Jie’s blood boiled, shouting, ”Follow up! Follow up!”

As soldiers disembarked, the scattered firepower upstairs had already been cleared by Qu Hang’s sniper rifle, turning the entire automobile factory into a featherless duck, ready for their feast.

He Jie led the charge carrying two heavy machine guns, glowing red, rapidly advancing through the gap Liang Kuan created.

The more this battle was fought, the smoother it went!

In the automobile factory, a cry of surprise came from the control room.

”Are they really a regular army?!”

Their screen was still frozen on the scene of the personnel carrier crashing through the wall.

A middle-aged man with a square face approached, studying the last frame intently, tugging his shirt collar, and affirmed.

”They are definitely not a regular army. What regular army has a fire truck following it? And you know the style of our regular army. Charge in without a word? This is definitely a group of insurgents. I’ve seen plenty of this kind of armed group while working in South Asia, Old Yuan, trust me!”

The man called Old Yuan had swollen eye bags, and the cigarette in his hand trembled slightly, ”We’ve been brothers for so many years, sharing a bunk bed, could I not trust you? The problem is our few guns can’t stop them.”

”Even if we can’t hold them off, we have to try. If we let these people in, we’re finished! It’s the end of the world. Who knows what they want to do?!”

Wan Hao waved his arm emphatically.

Old Yuan stomped hard with his toe, ”I’ll go with you, let’s give it one more try, after all, we have over two hundred Awakened. Last night, we were still talking about making a breakthrough. Are we going to cower now when we hit a snag?”

Wan Hao laughed heartily, ”Let’s go. Out of the six of us, I always thought you could make it. This kind of fierce determination isn’t common.”

Old Yuan shook his head, ”You’re a big business tycoon, don’t mock me. The villas you bought for your mistresses could buy my factory. If you hadn’t come to help me, you wouldn’t be stuck here. Sigh...”

Wan Hao waved dismissively, ”Don’t say that—”

The sudden muffled sound from below interrupted their conversation.

The whole building shook.

Wan Hao frowned, ”The other side might be blowing up the factory buildings. We need to move quickly.”

The sound of knocking on the door interrupted.

A worker barged in, crying out in panic, ”President Yuan, President Wan, those people have broken in! They even have a sniper who has killed several of us!”

The two were startled, ”They’ve broken in? What are you doing? Can’t so many Awakened handle them?”

The intruder rushed downstairs, only to see a burly man carrying a shield jump four or five meters.

Maneuvering skillfully within the factory, leisurely waving the shield.

The several-ton metal vehicles they had carefully arranged flew backward, trailing white smoke.

The fastest Awakened under their command was running manically, almost leaving afterimages, seizing the moment in which the man was attacking, rushed in with a dagger, only to be caught by the neck with a palm as large as a fan, like a helpless struggling chick.

And the man’s gaze had already fixed on them.

His eyes gleamed with a terrifying sharpness.

The chilling aura made them feel as if they had fallen into an ice cave.

”Old Yuan, run!”

Wan Hao shouted, raising two gusts of air, forming blades, sweeping towards the man, then turned and ran back.

Liang Kuan casually flung the person to the ground, incapacitating them.

If he hadn’t held back, that person would have been smashed into a mush.

Watching the direction Wan Hao and Old Yuan fled, Liang Kuan took a deep breath, hurling his shield directly at the suspended corridor bridge beneath their feet.

”Bang!”

The steel-plated corridor’s supports were severed, collapsing with a clap.

But both Wan Hao and Old Yuan were Evolvers, so they weren’t immediately killed. At the critical moment, they jumped to the other side, scrambling to escape.

”Boom!”

The side window was blown open again with a high-explosive grenade.

A group of armed soldiers rushed in, smoke grenades and flashbangs flew in, then a loudspeaker shouted slogans.

”Everyone get down on your knees with your hands on your head!”

”Surrender your weapons and you won’t be killed!”

”Think of your families, don’t make futile struggles!”

After this blow, the workers were already dazed.

They were merely skilled workers, not skilled criminals.

Even if they were criminals, facing this group of well-trained elite soldiers, they had to submit.

The same Evolutionary Abilities had entirely different effects on ordinary people and soldiers, not only failing to close the gap but creating an insurmountable chasm.

Upon hearing the loud and familiar shouts, most had a conditioned reflex to kneel with their hands on their heads.

Watching a row of tactical boots trample past before them.

Some workers were instead moved to tears.

”This way!”

Old Yuan pulled Wan Hao, and the two climbed upstairs.

Having navigated the business world for years, they were naturally determined individuals, with a single-minded resolve to resist after confirming He Jie and his men weren’t regular troops.

Now that resistance had failed, they had to choose to flee.

Who knew if surrendering would result in being shot?

Especially Wan Hao; he had witnessed such things even before the apocalypse!
