Urban Martial Saint

Du Canglang took Ye Qing with him, traveling non-stop for three days and nights, changing cars five or six times, from the Western Province to the Central Plains, only stopping when he was sure no one was following them.

To avoid attracting attention, Du Canglang didn’t take Ye Qing into the city but had the driver keep driving along a small road in the outskirts.

At first, the driver didn’t mind, but the further they went, the more desolate it became, and ahead there was no road, making the driver start to worry. He wanted to turn back several times, but was persuaded by Du Canglang’s heavy bribes, preventing him from leaving Ye Qing and Du Canglang behind and retreating. They kept driving until the end of the road, where it became forest, and there was no road ahead, leaving the driver with no choice.

”Sir, there’s really no way to go further,” the driver turned around and looked at Du Canglang helplessly, saying, ”Sir, why don’t you get off here?”

Du Canglang saw the mountain road ahead was rugged, with towering rocks, making it impossible to drive forward, so he nodded in agreement.

”Sir, it’s going to be dark soon. Why are you heading to such a remote place?” the driver asked curiously. ”It doesn’t seem like anyone lives around here, and the forest is large, there might be wild beasts. Going up the mountain at night isn’t safe.”

Du Canglang frowned instantly, while Ye Qing’s face changed. This driver was really talkative, asking such questions. It seemed he had no chance of leaving now.

”Why are you asking so much?” Ye Qing said sternly, ”Take the money and get lost!”

The driver was startled by Ye Qing, looking at him with displeasure, initially wanting to retort, but ultimately said nothing. After all, Du Canglang had paid a lot of money, and he wasn’t going to argue with money. Mumbling to himself, he turned the car around, intending to leave, but suddenly noticed the vehicle wouldn’t move. No matter how hard he pressed the gas pedal, all he heard was the engine’s hum, and the car didn’t move an inch.

”What’s going on?” the driver turned to look and saw the rear wheels were off the ground. Pressing the gas pedal, the rear wheels spun fruitlessly, with no power transmitted forward.

The driver was shocked, thinking something must be holding up the vehicle’s body. Upon closer inspection, he suddenly realized Du Canglang was standing behind the vehicle, holding the rear with one hand, making it look like he had lifted the car’s rear end, so the rear wheels couldn’t touch the ground.

The driver rubbed his eyes hard, initially wanting to get out and take a closer look, but then Ye Qing suddenly shouted, ”Run quickly, do you want to die?”

The driver paused, not having time to react, when the car body suddenly shook and began leaning to one side, as if it was about to tip over.

”What’s happening? What’s happening?” the driver called out in surprise, stomping on the brakes and gas, but couldn’t change a thing, and the vehicle eventually completely tipped over, with the driver toppling with it.

Now the driver was certain that it was Du Canglang who tipped the vehicle over, as he saw Du Canglang make his move. As he lay on the ground, he didn’t have time to think about anything else, only wondering how it had been done. After all, the car weighed over a ton, and Du Canglang, looking like a dying old man, had flipped it over. How was that even possible?

Before he could figure it out, Du Canglang had already walked to the driver’s seat, reached in, and directly grabbed him by the collar, pulling him out.

”What are you doing? What are you doing?” the driver cried out repeatedly. Du Canglang appeared frail and old, yet his grip was overwhelmingly strong, as if clutching a small chicken. The driver was completely powerless to resist.

”Du Canglang, he doesn’t even know martial arts, and yet you’re going to kill him? Can you still call yourself a top martial artist?” Ye Qing said sternly.

”Hmph, in this world, the strong prevail. We are all human; if I can master such martial arts and he cannot, how is that my fault?” Du Canglang replied coldly, ”I despise your so-called righteousness and morality. This idea that martial artists shouldn’t harm those who can’t fight back is nonsense. What’s the point of learning martial arts if you can’t use them? It’s better not to learn.”

The driver, dangling in Du Canglang’s grasp, had no idea what Ye Qing and Du Canglang were discussing. Yet instinct told him something was wrong, so he hurriedly shouted, ”Hey, let me go, or I’ll call the police!”

The driver had no clue who he was dealing with and was still considering calling the police. Du Canglang disregarded him completely, used one finger to strike a fatal point on his body, and the driver didn’t even struggle before Du Canglang killed him.

Although Ye Qing really wanted to save him, he was not a match for Du Canglang at all and couldn’t stop him. Watching the driver being killed, Ye Qing’s face also turned cold, staring hard at Du Canglang, and said in a deep voice, ”This driver had no grievance with you, yet you were so ruthless. Du Canglang, you are not much better than the Corpse Ghost Dragon!”

Du Canglang snorted coldly, completely ignoring Ye Qing, then tossed the driver into the car, broke the car’s fuel tank, and gasoline spilled all over the ground. He casually set the gasoline on fire, burning both the car and the body together, without the slightest pity for the driver. Killing was as simple for him as eating or sleeping.

After dealing with the car and the body, Du Canglang turned around and grabbed Ye Qing, heading up the mountain road. This mountain was very remote, with deep forests and towering trees, making it a good hiding place.

Du Canglang took Ye Qing all the way up, racing along the mountain road until they reached the depths of the forest. The mountain was also very vast, a relatively primitive forest, and because it was so high, it had not been developed, and no one would enter it usually. The farther they went, the more wild animals appeared, and finally, even tigers and leopards could be seen, showing how wild the forest was.

Du Canglang and Ye Qing traveled like this for about a day and finally reached a cave deep in the forest. Du Canglang didn’t hesitate and led Ye Qing directly into this cave.

The inside of the cave was spacious. Despite being deep in the forest, it was quite clean inside. Furthermore, there were some living supplies in the cave, as if someone had lived here before.

Entering the cave, Du Canglang tossed Ye Qing aside and said coldly, ”Alright, we’re here.”

Ye Qing casually looked around and said, ”It seems this is where you’ve been hiding all these years.”

Du Canglang’s expression changed slightly, not expecting Ye Qing could deduce such things. Ye Qing was right; this cave was indeed where he hid when living in seclusion. Unlike other reclusive masters, Du Canglang had offended too many enemies early on, so when he went into hiding, he was afraid of retaliation and found a secluded place to hide.

In fact, when he first entered this forest, the outside world was not as developed as it is now. It took him two full days to get here back then. After several decades of seclusion, upon leaving the cave, he suddenly found that the original forest had shrunk to almost half its size. What was originally a two-day journey could be done in one day now; half of the forest had been cut down.

The reason Du Canglang brought Ye Qing to this place was that it was secretive enough to be hard to find. Even if he obtained the Buddha’s Relic, he needed time to research it little by little and couldn’t use it immediately. Before figuring out the situation of the Buddha’s Relic, if someone came to snatch it, it would be quite troublesome. So, he simply brought Ye Qing to his reclusive spot to hide, not afraid of being found.

”How did you know this is my hiding place?” Du Canglang asked in a deep voice.

Ye Qing said, ”When you entered this cave, the path you chose and the way you moved were very decisive, showing you’re familiar with the roads in this forest. Besides, someone lived in this cave before. Judging by the environment here, it looks like they left recently. Therefore, this must be your hiding place!”

Du Canglang slightly furrowed his brows, staring at Ye Qing and said in a deep voice, ”You’re quite clever. Since you know what this place is, I’d advise you not to play any tricks on me. If you want to live, tell me everything about the Buddha’s Relic truthfully, and I might spare your life. If you try to trick me, I’ll kill you directly.”

Ye Qing said leisurely, ”If you kill me, you not only won’t get the Buddha’s Relic but can also forget about uncovering its secrets.”

”Hmph, you might fool Huang Yunfeng with those words, but not me!” Du Canglang said coldly, ”Even if you don’t tell me the secrets of the Buddha’s Relic, I will slowly figure it out myself. Do you really think I can’t do it without you? Hmph, I just don’t want to waste time researching its secrets, not that I really can’t figure it out!”

”Is that so?” Ye Qing glanced at Du Canglang and said, ”Listening to you, it seems you’re quite familiar with the Buddha’s Relic? Then let me ask you, do you know why the Buddha’s Relic entered my body?”

Du Canglang looked at Ye Qing, with a hint of surprise in his eyes. Along the way, he had also inspected Ye Qing’s palm and seen the reappearance of the Buddha’s Relic. However, there wasn’t even a scratch on Ye Qing’s hand, and the Buddha’s Relic seemed well integrated with it; it didn’t look forcibly inserted but rather seemed, as Ye Qing said, to have grown there.

Of course, Du Canglang didn’t believe the Buddha’s Relic grew there, but Ye Qing’s situation forced him to. Now that Ye Qing asked this question, Du Canglang didn’t know how to answer.
