Urban Martial Saint

Gu Master Xiang Jiu is not very powerful among the Miaojiang Seventy-Two Dong, so his status in Miaojiang is also not very high. He rushed to see the Dong Master of Xiangyun Dong, and it took him more than half an hour before he finally saw Dong Master Xiang Bu Sheng.

Xiang Jiu came here originally to ask Xiang Bu Sheng for help in removing the Black Heart Gu. However, on the way, Ye Qing helped him remove the Black Heart Gu, so there was no longer any need for that. Therefore, as soon as he saw Xiang Bu Sheng, he immediately recounted the events concerning Ye Qing.

After listening to Xiang Jiu’s words, Xiang Bu Sheng frowned and said, ”Xiang Jiu, you are also one of the Gu Masters in Miaojiang, you should be aware of the grievances between the Miao and Han people. Although our people of Xiangyun Dong are not so hostile to the Han, we should not have any entanglements with them either. Moreover, the people of Huoyu Dong have always been aggressive. Do you think it’s appropriate for me to help a Han person and make enmity with the people of Huoyu Dong?”

Xiang Jiu was very embarrassed and said in a low voice, ”Dong Master, that Han person saved my life!”

”The Black Heart Gu is not considered a very powerful Gu insect in Miaojiang. Even if he didn’t save you, when you arrived at this Zhenmu Dong, I would have stepped in to save you anyway, there’s no need to mention it.” Xiang Bu Sheng said, ”Besides, he saved your life, and you brought him to Zhenmu Dong, you’ve already done your utmost. If you hadn’t brought him here, not to mention whether he could find this Zhenmu Dong, it’s still unknown whether he could survive encountering so many Miao people along the way.”

Xiang Jiu understood that Xiang Bu Sheng simply did not want to get involved in this matter. In fact, he could understand Xiang Bu Sheng’s mindset. Huo Lie of Huoyu Dong is always aggressive, and the Zi Ying in his hand is one of the top-ranked Gu insects in the whole Miaojiang. Xiang Bu Sheng is very wary of him. Therefore, as soon as he heard that this matter involved Huo Lie, Xiang Bu Sheng naturally did not want to intervene.

In fact, Xiang Jiu didn’t expect Xiang Bu Sheng to help solve this issue. Given Huo Lie’s personality, even in Miaojiang, there are not many people who can control him. If one wants to rescue Huangfu Ziyu, it’s best to seek the Gu God of Miaojiang Seventy-Two Dong to solve it. However, the Gu God is not someone he can see at will, and this matter still needs Xiang Bu Sheng to arrange.

”Dong Master, there’s another very important matter.” Xiang Jiu said in a low voice.

Xiang Bu Sheng impatiently waved his hand and said, ”What’s the matter? Don’t speak for that Han person again. If others in the Dong hear about it, they will surely say you are colluding with the Han.”

Xiang Jiu said, ”Dong Master, actually, that Han person has also been cursed with a Gu.”

”Oh?” Xiang Bu Sheng raised his head and gave Xiang Jiu a glance, slightly frowning, and said, ”Didn’t you say that this Han person is very skilled and can detoxify Gu himself? How is it that the Gu insect he was infected with still needs our Miao people to help him remove it?”

”Dong Master, he was afflicted with...” Xiang Jiu took a deep breath and said solemnly, ”The Twin Life Gu!”

”What!?” The teacup in Xiang Bu Sheng’s hand instantly fell to the ground, spilling tea all over him. He didn’t even care, and instead stared intently at Xiang Jiu, anxiously saying, ”Say that again!”

”He is infected with the Twin Life Gu!” Xiang Jiu paused for a moment and said solemnly, ”It’s the Twin Life Gu that has not been seen in Miaojiang for over a hundred years!”

”How can that be?” Xiang Bu Sheng’s eyes widened and he said, ”The Twin Life Gu is extremely difficult to cultivate, and it has been extinct in Miaojiang. Even Miao people can’t cultivate it, how could outsiders possibly cultivate it? That Han person must be deceiving you, don’t believe his words!”

”What I’m saying is true...” Xiang Jiu said solemnly, ”He truly is afflicted with the Twin Life Gu!”

Xiang Bu Sheng said, ”Ridiculous, if he really was afflicted with the Twin Life Gu, he would have been dead long ago. How could he still get to Miaojiang?”

Xiang Jiu didn’t conceal anything and recounted the story of Ye Qing. After hearing Xiang Jiu’s words, Xiang Bu Sheng was stunned. He didn’t expect that so many complicated things had happened to Ye Qing. The fact that the Twin Life Gu had fallen into dormancy, this he could believe. Because, many Gu insects in Miaojiang need to be cultivated in the body of a virgin, they are well aware of these things.

Xiang Bu Sheng furrowed his brow and remained silent for a while, then said in a deep voice, ”Are you certain it’s the Twin Life Gu?”

Xiang Jiu nodded without any hesitation, causing Xiang Bu Sheng’s expression to change even more. He was silent for a long time, then suddenly stood up and said seriously, ”No, this matter must be reported to the Gu God as soon as possible. The reappearance of the Twin Life Gu is a major event!”

Hearing this, Xiang Jiu breathed a sigh of relief. He just wanted Xiang Bu Sheng to go to the Gu God, so that Ye Qing could have the hope of being rescued.

Xiang Bu Sheng did not linger and directly took Xiang Jiu to pay homage to the Gu God.

The Gu God was sitting in the Zhenmu Hall of Zhenmu Dong, receiving tributes from all the people of the Seventy-Two Dong, and not just anyone could see him. Even for Xiang Bu Sheng, he had to be reported first before seeing the Gu God. However, the Gu God was very amiable, and shortly after Xiang Bu Sheng and Xiang Jiu announced themselves, they were taken in to see the Gu God.

The Gu God was an old man in his sixties, with a spirited demeanor. Unlike other Miao people, he was dressed very neatly, even his hair was combed meticulously. His face was calm, appearing very kind, completely different from the fierce-looking Miao people.

Xiang Bu Sheng led Xiang Jiu to kneel before the Gu God and said, ”We pay respects to the Gu God!”

The Gu God smiled gently, waved his hand at them, and said, ”Did you come to me, Dong Master, because there is something important?”

Xiang Bu Sheng arrived at Zhenmu Dong yesterday and had seen the Gu God. He’s here again today, so something must be up.

”Gu God, I just received news...” Xiang Bu Sheng took a deep breath and said in a deep voice, ”A Han person has been afflicted with the Twin Life Gu!”

”What!?” The Gu God’s originally calm expression changed suddenly, and his brow furrowed at once. As the Gu God, he knew better than anyone how terrifying the Twin Life Gu was. If such a thing appeared, his status as the Gu God would not be secure.

Beside him, Xiang Jiu anxiously said, ”Gu God, is there a way to remove the Twin Life Gu?”

The Gu God did not answer Xiang Jiu’s question. After a long silence, he asked in a deep voice, ”Where is this Han person now?”

Xiang Bu Sheng looked at Xiang Jiu; he didn’t know where the Han person was now either.

”He’s in my room,” Xiang Jiu said. ”He came to Zhenmu Dong mainly to rescue his wife, his wife...”

Before Xiang Jiu could finish, the Gu God waved his hand and said, ”Bring him to see me!”

Xiang Jiu was taken aback and wanted to say more, but Xiang Bu Sheng pulled him away.

Outside the Zhenmu Hall, Xiang Jiu urgently said, ”I... I haven’t finished speaking...”

”The Gu God is now most concerned about the Twin Life Gu. Don’t distract the Gu God with the Han person’s matters,” Xiang Bu Sheng said sternly. ”Go immediately and bring the Han person to see the Gu God, and discuss other matters later!”

Xiang Jiu originally wanted to ask the Gu God for help in rescuing Huangfu Ziyu, but now, the attention of both the Gu God and Xiang Bu Sheng was focused entirely on the Twin Life Gu, leaving him with no choice. He sighed and went back to find Ye Qing. If they could resolve the Twin Life Gu on Ye Qing, it would be a good thing. As for finding Huangfu Ziyu, it would probably have to wait until after the Twin Life Gu issue was resolved.

Ye Qing was anxiously waiting in the room when Xiang Jiu finally returned. An hour and a half had passed by this time, meaning that in less than two hours, the Twin Life Gu larvae on Ye Qing’s body might hatch. If they didn’t find Huangfu Ziyu soon, Ye Qing might not last.

Hearing that the Gu God wanted to meet Ye Qing, Xiang An and the girl were both very pleased. To the Miao people, the Gu God was like the Master of Miaojiang, akin to an ancient Emperor’s existence. The Miao people held the Gu God in high esteem. A summoning by the Gu God was akin to an ancient Emperor summoning a commoner, which was naturally exciting.

”Don’t worry, Brother Ye, the Gu God will definitely help you with this matter!” Xiang An said beside him, ”Not only will he help you find your wife, but he will also help you remove the Twin Life Gu!”

The girl couldn’t speak Han language, but she cheered Ye Qing on with her eyes.

Ye Qing forced a bitter smile. Although Xiang An repeatedly reassured him, Ye Qing knew in his heart that things wouldn’t be so simple. He could tell from Xiang Jiu’s expression that things were not looking good.

However, meeting the Gu God was still better than wandering around aimlessly. Ye Qing tidied himself up, packed the Seven-Star Ancient Sword into a box, and went with Xiang Jiu to Zhenmu Hall.

At Zhenmu Hall, a few people timely arrived, led by Huo Lie. Two people accompanied him, and one of them was the sister of the Fire Sang girl. The person beside the Fire Sang girl was none other than Zhou Yuliang.

Huo Lie had a deep frown, his expression evidently unfriendly, as he led the two directly into Zhenmu Hall. Although this was the Gu God’s domain, the Huo Family had always been strong in Miaojiang, and Huo Lie’s entry into Zhenmu Hall was quite bold.

The Gu God was discussing the Twin Life Gu with Xiang Bu Sheng when Huo Lie suddenly brought people in, and the Gu God immediately frowned, his face showing slight displeasure. After all, he was the Gu God, and Huo Lie entered Zhenmu Hall unannounced, a slight to his dignity.

Nonetheless, though the Gu God was angry, he showed little sign of it on the surface. He smiled at Huo Lie and said, ”The Fire Dong Master finally arrives. The Ten Thousand Gu Festival is set for tomorrow, and with the Fire Dong Master’s presence, the festival will surely be even more grand!”

Huo Lie completely ignored the Gu God’s words and said solemnly, ”You are the Gu God. Shouldn’t you make decisions for all the Miao people? Shouldn’t you protect all the Miao people?”

The Gu God didn’t know what Huo Lie intended to say but nodded anyway, ”Indeed, it is the Gu God’s duty to protect all the people of Miaojiang!”

Huo Lie said sternly, ”Make it clear, to protect all Miao people in Miaojiang. But in Miaojiang, there are also some Han people. Are you saying you’ll protect them too?”
