Reborn in the Apocalypse: A Seductive Beauty Captivates a Pure-hearted Roughneck

108: Chapter 108 There was actually a survivor”They didn’t spend much time together before, but now that everyone has gathered, there’s bound to be some progress.” Whether the regrets of the previous life can be made up for in this one remains to be seen.

Uncle Cheng nodded with satisfaction. That brat of his was already 30; if he didn’t find a partner soon, they, as parents, would be worried to death.

The first residential complex they visited had a total of 3 buildings, each with 32 floors and 4 units per building. With a design of two elevators and two households per floor, there were 768 units in total.

It was far more than Xu Wanning had expected.

Xu Yu was grinning from ear to ear. ”Looking at it this way, everyone can really get 3 units! Hahaha, we can just knock down the walls to connect them left and right, or up and down. That would be amazing!”

Xu Wanning patted his head. ”Be careful, don’t get bitten by a zombie.”

After more than two years of training, the team’s chemistry was exceptionally good.

The Metal-element ability users and Earth-type Ability users built walls as they walked, creating a dedicated passage directly connecting the buildings to the residential complex. If the zombies wanted to get in, they would have to put in some effort.

Once this area was cleared, everyone entered the buildings. The apartments were quite nice. Some had zombies inside and were messy, but that didn’t detract from their luxurious appearance. They would be ready to live in after a simple cleanup.

The only difference was the floor area; some were larger, some smaller, with the large ones having four bedrooms and the small ones having three.

”This is actually pretty good.” Jiang Heng patted the sofa in the room; these were quality items, not cheap goods.

”Let’s go. There are 9 buildings in that other complex. Let’s try to get them all cleared before dark.” Xu Wanning led the team out.

They didn’t encounter anything unusual in Buildings 1 and 2, and clearing them was easy. The apartments here were decorated more luxuriously than the previous complex.

”Sister Ning, you might not believe it, but there is actually a survivor in this building.” Jiang Heng habitually observed before entering.

”A survivor?” She really hadn’t expected that. To have a survivor at this time—this person must have strong vitality. They were probably an Ability User too, otherwise, it would have been very difficult to survive.

They entered the building and fought their way up to the third floor.

”It’s this one.” Jiang Heng pointed to the door on the right.

Ma Yang went over to open the door. All four teams were equipped with members who knew how to pick locks, making it convenient to enter.

When the door opened, a man was lying in the living room. His face was flushed red, clearly indicating he had a high fever.

Song Yunqing walked over and released her Supernatural ability to save him.

The man opened his eyes groggily. When he saw Song Yunqing, his eyes were first filled with confusion, then he spoke, ”Mommy.”

Uh, everyone present was stunned. Where did the word ”Mommy” come from?

Song Yunqing immediately stood up and took two steps back. ”Don’t go around calling people that. I’m definitely not your mom.”

When the man heard her say that, he actually started sobbing. ”Mom, don’t abandon me. Little Feng will be good. Mommy, please don’t abandon Little Feng.”

Well, that was that. ”He might have been burned silly, his intelligence has reverted to when he was a child.” Xu Wanning squatted down. ”Little friend, what is your name, and how old are you this year?”

”I, I’m called Shen Feng, and I’m 5 years old this year.” Shen Feng spoke with the tone of a little child; it was confirmed that he had been burned silly.

”What should we do?” Everyone looked at each other.

Xu Wanning sighed. She guessed that this guy had awakened during the second Acid Rain, but something went wrong midway, and his mind was messed up. ”Let’s take him with us for now; we can’t just leave him here.”

”I’ll stay behind to keep him company. You guys continue clearing out the zombies.” Song Yunqing sighed. Now that Shen Feng regarded her as his mom, if she left, Shen Feng would definitely follow. It was better to stay here and accompany him.

”I’ll keep you company.” Bai Jian suddenly spoke up.

His brothers all looked at him with gossipy eyes, teasing him intensely.

Xu Wanning was confused. When did this happen? How did she not know?

Song Yunqing’s face turned slightly red, and she avoided Xu Wanning’s gaze.

”Then we’ll head out first and come pick you up later.” Xu Yu pushed Xu Wanning out, not noticing anything amiss at all.

The apartments here were very clean. It was unclear if the people here had evacuated before or what had happened, but there were very few households with zombies, and even fewer that had been contaminated by zombies.

By the time the cleanup was finished, it was just 9 o’clock in the evening.

”Shen Yue, has the situation here been registered clearly? We’re going back to distribute the apartments!” Before setting off, Xu Wanning had entrusted the registration task to Shen Yue.

Shen Yue patted the little notebook in his pocket. ”Don’t worry, Sister Ning, everything has been registered clearly.”

”Time to go back and distribute the apartments!” Several young men ran back happily.

The walls they had built earlier had not yet been breached by zombies, and the Metal-element ability users and Earth-type Ability users reinforced the walls once more.

Back at the hotel conference room, Shen Yue explained the situation of the two residential complexes and displayed the photos he had taken. The family members were overjoyed; these apartments were too good, something they wouldn’t have dared to imagine before.

”According to our statistics, there are 1026 units in total. There are 288 of us here, so that’s three units per person. Does everyone want their family members’ apartments to be grouped together, or should we distribute them by random draw?”

It was difficult to distribute the apartment layouts very fairly, especially with the two-elevators-two-households design. If the numbers worked out perfectly, it would be fine, but having a single unit left over would be a bit inconvenient.

Xu Yu looked at the hesitant crowd. ”How about we distribute two units per person in Complex No. 1 so that families can stay together, and randomize the units in Complex No. 2? How’s that?”

”That works!” Everyone thought it was a good idea and immediately agreed.

Xu Wanning prepared a pile of lots. ”Then let’s draw for the random units in Complex No. 2 first. As for Complex No. 1, I’ll leave the planning to you, Xu Yu and Jiang Heng.”

”Sure, sure. We’re willing to take whatever floor we’re assigned.” The group wasn’t that fussy and wouldn’t be unhappy about the floor level.

”No problem, leave it to us.” Xu Yu chuckled. He guaranteed that he could make everyone satisfied. Anyway, the buildings here weren’t too tall, and they all had elevators. As long as there was power for the elevators, going up and down wouldn’t be a hassle, so there wasn’t much difference in which floor one lived on.

The drawing for Complex No. 2 proceeded smoothly. Xu Wanning drew Building 9, 6th Floor—a one-elevator-one-household apartment.

She leaned over to Lu Chengyue’s side and showed him her slip of paper. ”A-Yue, where did you draw?”

Lu Chengyue unfolded his slip and showed it to her. ”Building 8, 3rd Floor.”

Xu Wanning chuckled. ”That’s fine, it’s pretty good. We can decide where we want to live when the time comes.”

”Brother, I drew Building 9, 5th Floor. I’ll switch with you.” Lu Zhiyu shoved her slip to Lu Chengyue. She still felt it was better for a couple to live together, even if they didn’t actually live there later, it was the same.

Police Captain Cheng Jingchuan looked at the Building 8, 4th Floor slip in his hand and couldn’t help but laugh. He had just been planning to switch with Xu Wanning, but he hadn’t expected Lu Zhiyu to beat him to it. Living closer was convenient.

”Sister, we really are brother and sister. I drew Building 9, 10th Floor.” Xu Yu held his slip up in front of Xu Wanning.

”You’re not as good as me.” Jiang Heng shook the slip in his hand. ”I drew Building 9, 4th Floor. I’m closer.”

”And me, I’m in Building 9, 7th Floor.” Wen Shuyang also held up her slip.

Everyone took pride in living near Xu Wanning.

It seemed like everyone had tacitly accepted that they would be living in the No. 2 villas; the decor there was indeed better and more luxurious.

”By the way, what about him?” Song Yunqing raised her hand and pointed to Shen Feng, who was sitting obediently beside her.
