Rebirth: A Cinderella's Counterattack

Chapter 1674: Chapter 1654: Di Jun and the Staff of Light

Qhianqhian didn’t say a word. She just crouched on the roof, took aim at the people coming, and asked in a low voice, ”Will they... hurt the ones who came here to study?”

”Of course!” Di Jun nodded. ”From a certain angle, the academy hired them precisely because of the resentment they hold against it. Even though some of them really do have talent and perseverance, they still never met the academy’s admission standards, and for so many years they’ve been unable to even enter the admission exams. So they’re just as merciless to those who come to take the test.”

”But... wasn’t I already guaranteed a spot all the way to the final round? So why...”

”In the end, the ones who actually get into the academy, unless they’re especially strong and can power through those levels, are basically only the guaranteed students.” Di Jun said. His words also subtly revealed that he and Qhianqhian were the same.

Qhianqhian was instantly full of astonishment.

”...They charge a fee to take the exam, right?”

”Seems like it...”

Qhianqhian shook her head speechlessly. So this whole thing was just a money‑grabbing exam? Unless you’re ridiculously strong, you’re just here to walk through a formality for fun?

These people chasing them like mad weren’t necessarily all scumbags either. Maybe some of them had also come to take the exam, only to be ruthlessly cut, and then learned how to survive the hard way.

”Then I’m not holding back anymore.” Qhianqhian took a deep breath, directly aimed at the few rushing in front, and fired the Repeating Crossbow silently and rapidly at them. In an instant she stripped them of their Action Power—one bolt hit a man’s dominant hand, and the rest of the bolts went into their legs, taking away their ability to move.

Di Jun sat at the side, staring blankly. ”That was sick. Thousand Mechanism Box, want to keep me as your boy toy? I’m actually pretty rich. And with me around, you won’t get hurt.”

”Go to hell with that.” Qhianqhian sighed speechlessly, not even sparing Di Jun a glance. She kept aiming and firing without the slightest intention of stopping. In this situation, who had time to bicker?

”You’re just going to sit there and do nothing?” After Qhianqhian finished off the first wave, she glared wide‑eyed at Di Jun, who clearly had no intention of making a move. Wasn’t this forced labor? Was he paying her a salary or what? How could he bully people like this?

”I... uh, okay, going now.” Di Jun glanced down from the roof a couple of times, then casually leaped down, grabbed his scepter and went ”pa pa pa” knocking it on a bunch of people. One strike each and they all passed out. Then, Di Jun swiftly took the pouches from their bodies, pulled out their loot, and quickly stuffed it into his own bag.

After that he naturally hopped back onto the roof and sat down again.

Qhianqhian: ”???” So that’s what you’re doing?

”Relax.” Sensing Qhianqhian’s gaze, Di Jun quickly said, ”I’ll definitely split half with you, I don’t lie. You handle the attacks, I clean up the battlefield.”

Qhianqhian: ”...” Why did it suddenly feel like Zhu‑someone had turned into... herself?

She glared at Di Jun, fuming. Di Jun just looked completely innocent. ”In the daytime I can still manage not to be that obvious. Right now my abilities are basically only good for battlefield cleanup.”

Qhianqhian kept staring daggers at him.

Di Jun quietly rubbed his nose. ”How about... I show you a little something?”

Qhianqhian continued glaring.

Di Jun gripped the scepter in his hand, took a deep breath, and waved it toward the group lying on the ground. ”Power of Light, heal all things.”

Instantly, radiance filled the sky, lighting up the entire heavens...

Then, ring after ring of halos swept over the people on the ground, and their wounds visibly vanished to the naked eye.

”What the fuck...” Qhianqhian suddenly had the urge to start swearing!

This dog‑blinding holy glow—was he afraid people wouldn’t be able to find them or what?!

And after showing off, Di Jun still looked utterly innocent. ”You told me to show you something. This is my big move—indiscriminate healing...”

”You! You’re really something!” Qhianqhian looked at the guys who’d come around and were now alive and kicking again, then sensed all the people converging from every direction. She almost coughed up blood. ”Run, now!” Who gave a damn about Glory Points at this point?

Screw Glory Points! Signing up was what mattered now.

She still understood the principle that four fists beat two.

It’s just that...

Di Jun sagged weakly onto the roof, looking at Qhianqhian with a face full of innocence. ”Sorry, after I use my big move, I have a half‑hour weakness period...”

Qhianqhian’s mouth fell open, and she very much looked like she wanted to toss him down.

Di Jun saw right through Qhianqhian’s thoughts and said in a wounded tone, ”That’s why I said, in the daytime at least... If you abandon me, I’ll... I’ll make everyone ostracize you at the academy!”

”Are you three years old?!” Qhianqhian’s head throbbed. Her spiritual power swept quickly over Di Jun and found that his body really was in a weakened state, so she let out a breath.

”Didn’t I just give you the Light’s Blessing? During my weakness period, you’ll be protected by the Light’s Blessing once—it’ll block an attack for you.” the Emperor continued.

Qhianqhian: ”...” So now she’d randomly ended up owing him a favor? She couldn’t even dump this ”dead weight” if she wanted to?

So blue and shiitake, so wronged, so very wronged.

Where the hell did this stupid weirdo come from anyway?!

Awooo...

After silently wailing in her heart for a moment, Qhianqhian quietly hoisted Di Jun up. She didn’t have time to overthink anything now; all they could do was get out fast, that was what mattered! Because the encirclement was already shrinking, she couldn’t afford not to care!

She sprinted toward their destination. After all, aside from being a bit bulky, Di Jun didn’t have many other drawbacks. Like... his weight was actually very light, not even as heavy as a Snow Beast—easy to carry.

Down on the ground, the people Di Jun had healed were all full of astonishment.

They were supposed to be on opposing sides, but not only had the other party held back from killing them, they’d even healed and rescued them?

And they themselves had gone all out with intent to kill!

”Hey, have you ever thought about...” Qhianqhian was hauling Di Jun along, eyes gleaming as she watched pursuers converging from all directions.

”About what?”

”Instead of bullying our own people, why don’t we go black‑eating‑black? If we rob them, it’s not going to affect our academy life at all, right? Scamming people like you do is really bad for your image in other people’s eyes, you know.”

Di Jun: ”So what kind of image do I have in your eyes?” he asked, nosy and interested. ”But I like this plan a lot. It’s just that if we really want to do this, we probably have to hide out for a few days first. We came way too early...”

Qhianqhian’s mouth twitched. ”A Little Fox covered in chicken feathers.”

As for hiding a few days... that wasn’t impossible either.

When it came to playing hide‑and‑seek, as an older sister, she had a wealth of experience.
