Chapter 150: Chapter 100: I Did Not Collude With a Demon

”Don’t even mention Demons.”

Chen Xiangzhu instinctively frowned, pulling her clothes tighter around herself. ”The moment you mention them, I feel like a Demon is watching me.”

”Heh heh.”

Steward Luo, his face slightly flushed from drink, pointed to the empty air above them. ”My Cloud Net Shield is a Mid Grade Magical Artifact. I’ve been a greedy old man my entire life and this is the only thing I’ve managed to get. It’s for saving my skin.”

”What kind of Demon has nothing better to do than come to this nameless little hill in the middle of the night, and just so happens to be able to see through a Breath Concealment Magical Artifact...”

His eyes were cloudy. He smacked his lips twice and looked up with a grin.

Then, the air above them began to warp.

As if something was being pulled away.

A rough hand then snatched the faint outline from the air, and it materialized into a piece of dazzling cloth.

The two of them turned around, stunned.

Their breath caught in their throats.

A one-armed old man regarded them with a calm expression. Beside him stood a beautiful woman in a black cape.

Behind them, eight other figures were peering over with curiosity.

CRACK.

The wine cup in Steward Luo’s hand was crushed.

Beads of sweat formed on the tip of his nose. Suddenly, the mountain wind felt so cold it stung his cheeks.

”A-aah... D-Demons...”

It felt as if something was lodged in his throat, and his chest was about to burst.

The hunchbacked old man’s eyes bulged. In the space of a breath, tears welled in their corners.

He tumbled from his stool, propping himself up on trembling arms.

Chen Xiangzhu was in an even worse state. Her features were contorted in terror, and her back was drenched in a cold sweat.

She looked as if she had seen a ghost, scrambling to flee in a blind panic, but a girl in a black shirt slammed a foot onto her spine.

”Spare me!”

That single kick felt like it had stomped on her very soul. A piercing scream echoed across the small mountain.

Chen Xiangzhu no longer dared to run. Trembling uncontrollably, she turned around and began to kowtow to the group, sobbing her heart out.

”So, tell me. What exactly were you trying to do?”

The one-armed Old Demon glanced at the dazzling cloth in his hand, then turned his gaze to the hunchbacked old man.

Under the stares of a dozen Demons,

Steward Luo swallowed hard. Not daring to hide a single thing, he blurted out the entire story in a rush.

He cried out miserably, ”Great Demon General! I... I really was trying to help you! This worthless slave wouldn’t dare set a trap! I don’t have the guts to scheme against you great sirs!”

”Lin Shu?”

Elder Xu froze. A vicious glint instantly flashed in his eyes.

He had just heard the hunchback’s story with his own ears.

’But I never would have thought... all this was to deal with that kid?’

At the mention of that name, Gu Nanzhi’s face filled with alarm, and Xie Yutang immediately drew her Broken Sword.

”I...”

Seeing their reactions, Steward Luo froze for a second before it dawned on him.

’Chen Xiangzhu is an Immortal Descendant; she’s a dead woman for sure.’

’But I’m different.’

’If I can provide enough value, I could even become the Demons’ eyes and ears in the city.’

”Right! It’s Lin Shu! The Yu Family Disciple who’s been all the rage lately!”

”I can lead you to him! I know where he is! And besides him, there are also eight World Traveler Disciples from the Zhao Family.”

Before Steward Luo could finish, the one-armed old man’s hand clamped onto his shoulder.

The next moment, the group of figures shot into the air and sped away.

The Qingming Demon General looked up, her interest piqued.

’What could a mere disciple have possibly done to infuriate the normally good-tempered Elder Xu and this group of Scattered Demons?’

Driven by curiosity, she took a step and soared through the air after them.

...

「In an instant.」

The group swept from the small mountain to a clearing.

Steward Luo was clutched like a chick, his body limp as if boneless.

’All I can do now is pray that Lin Shu holds out a little longer.’

’That might be my only chance to survive.’

Chen Xiangzhu, her face deathly pale, was being carried in Xie Yutang’s grip.

Even with Magical Power comparable to Dao Essence, she didn’t dare entertain a single thought of resisting a Demon General.

Just then, the two of them, each lost in their own thoughts, suddenly froze with identical, dumbstruck expressions.

The clearing below was littered with countless depleted Blood Spirit Stones, the obvious aftermath of a massive battle.

Seven fresh piles of gleaming white bones lay scattered about, as if resentful souls still clung to them.

There was scarcely a sign of life in the field, save for the sway of a single dark green robe.

”This is your so-called foolproof plan?”

Seeing this, Chen Xiangzhu’s eyes reddened. Filled with venomous resentment, she hissed in a hoarse, mocking tone.

”Hah!”

Steward Luo was too shocked to speak.

But right now, he was in no mood to deal with the mockery of the Chen Family’s Immortal Descendant.

’And I certainly don’t have time to wonder how Lin Shu pulled this off. All I want is to stay alive!’

”That man is Lin Shu! He’s the sole disciple of that Yu Family Immortal Descendant! If you kill him, the Immortal Descendant won’t last much longer!”

”This worthless slave swears on his life, not a single word is false!”

”If you great sirs kill him, I can lure out the Yu Family Mountain God for you!!”

To prove his loyalty, Steward Luo screamed until his voice cracked.

’The venom in Chen Xiangzhu’s heart surfaced in her eyes. If it weren’t for that bastard down there, she never would have left Yongzhou Pass. She never would have trusted this old scoundrel beside her.’

’If I’m going to die today, I’m taking that bastard with me!’

With that thought, Chen Xiangzhu’s throat felt dry as she said softly, ”I can vouch for him.”

Both of their minds were focused on the young man below.

They failed to notice that the expressions on the Demons behind them had long since turned peculiar.

”...”

Elder Xu’s gaze swept over the pile of faded Blood Spirit Stones.

’As a Demon General who cultivated the Core Formation Body Refining Technique, he was all too familiar with this Array.’

’According to the hunchback, four hours at most have passed.’

’He knew that even if he were to try and break this Array himself, it would take him an hour.’

’And that was without having to simultaneously face eight Cultivators of the same Realm, all of them fully equipped with techniques and Magical Artifacts.’
