Chapter 149: Chapter 100: I Did Not Collude with Demons

”Senior Brother Lu!”

Outside Shihu City, the group was ecstatic to have escaped with their lives once again.

Just then, a disciple suddenly cried out in confusion, ”Why isn’t Senior Brother Lin back yet?”

Logically speaking, even though they had left a bit early, Senior Brother Lin should have caught up to them by now with his Light Body Technique.

”Is it your place to worry?”

Lu Yun shook his head helplessly, forgetting that he was the one who had just been screaming about blocking the Formulas with his own body.

”Don’t forget, Senior Brother Lin is also a Body Tempering Cultivator.”

Without the Array holding him back, the remaining seven would most likely suffer the same fate as that female disciple.

”That’s true.”

The other disciples recalled the earlier scene and couldn’t help but shudder again.

They were all disciples who had followed their Master to Yongzhou Pass for training, so how could the gap in their abilities be so vast?

”Wait a second.”

Just as the group was about to move on, that same disciple suddenly frowned and looked curiously at Lu Yun’s shoulder. ”Senior Brother, what’s this?”

”Hm?”

Lu Yun glanced over casually. His shoulder was already a mess of torn flesh from the severe injuries he had just sustained.

But amidst the crimson gore, there was now a wispy, hair-like object.

He froze for a moment, then reached out and pulled it free.

He examined it closely for a long time.

When he finally recognized what it was, Lu Yun froze in his tracks and began to tremble as if he had been plunged into an icy cavern.

It was as if a bolt of lightning had shot through his mind!

He quickly connected the strange events of the night with his Master’s earlier summons.

And the way Steward Luo had clapped him on the shoulder.

”...”

At this thought, his blood-smeared, crimson face began to twitch violently.

His expression shifted from terror to despair, finally settling into a look of profound, venomous resentment.

”How could you do this... How could you... do this?!”

The tall, sturdy man collapsed to the ground, his body going limp.

Even when facing the numerous disciples of the Zhao Family, he had been able to charge forward without regard for his own life.

But now, he let out a mournful, heart-wrenching wail.

”Senior Brother!” The disciples, alarmed and uncertain, tried to help him up, only to be shoved violently away.

”Leave me alone! Go find the Immortal Family Yu Sheng! Hurry, find her and tell her... there are Demons.”

Lu Yun, completely disregarding that he was surrounded by Chen Family disciples, rasped, ”Chen Xiangzhu is colluding with Demons! She’s plotting to murder Senior Brother Lin!”

’He’d been wandering around outside the city for so long, carrying the primordial aura of an Immortal Family.’

’And since Chen Xiangzhu planted one on him, she would most likely find other ways to lure out the Demons.’

’Now that he had returned to Shihu City, it was terrifyingly obvious who that group of Demons would run into as they followed the trail of that aura.’

”Have you gone mad?!”

The disciples surged forward to clamp a hand over his mouth.

If anyone else heard those words, Senior Brother Lu would no longer have a place in Yongzhou Pass.

One disciple, understanding the gravity of the situation, immediately bolted for the inn.

”I have always respected my master and followed the righteous path. I have never done anything to wrong her! Except for tonight, I have never even taken a single Elixir from the Yu Family.

”She can kill me, she can harm me, but why did she have to frame me as a traitor?”

Years of caution, years of unwavering loyalty—it had all become a joke in an instant.

Lu Yun stared out beyond the pass, and an intense killing intent blossomed in his bloodshot eyes.

His lips trembled as he muttered over and over, ”I’m going to kill her. I’m going to kill her!”

The other disciples dazedly lowered the hands they had been about to use to cover his mouth.

They all exchanged a silent glance.

’This time, he was truly beyond saving.’

...

「In the mountain forest outside Yongzhou Pass.」

”That little bitch with the surname Chen really didn’t go back inside the pass.”

The one-eared youth rushed ahead, his face alight with excitement. ”Let’s go, time to slaughter another one! This old man is going to carry the banner!”

He didn’t have the guts to take on an Immortal Descendant inside the city, but out here in the mountains beyond the pass... heh heh.

It was unbelievable. Not only could they smell Primordial Immortal Qi right on their doorstep, but a scout had also happened to spot Chen Xiangzhu leaving Yongzhou Pass.

This was practically a gift delivered right to their door!

Behind the scrawny, skeletal youth, a full nine figures followed.

”If you dare mention that again, I’ll break your legs,” the one-armed old man said, suddenly lifting him upside down. His voice was dead serious, not a hint of jest in it. ”You can try me.”

”Let me go, Eldest Master Xu!”

Monkey struggled with all his might, his face flushing red.

’The old man wouldn’t carry the banner himself, and he wouldn’t let anyone else carry it either. It was just too tyrannical.’

’Besides, there was an outsider present. He could at least show him a little respect.’

”My apologies for the scene, Qingming Demon General. I’m sorry to have troubled you this late.” Elder Xu tossed Monkey aside and offered a helpless, sidelong smile.

”It’s no trouble.”

The beautiful woman, wrapped in a pitch-black cloak, pursed her lips slightly. ”It has indeed been a long time since I’ve been out and about.”

”Wrong way, wrong way,” Monkey’s nose twitched twice, and he shouted, ”The scent is over there!”

”Shut up.”

Xie Yutang smacked him with her sword scabbard.

’That Immortal Descendant really took them for a bunch of fools.’

’Such a strange maneuver must be hiding some kind of conspiracy.’

Worried that something was amiss, Elder Xu had personally gone to summon the Qingming Demon General. She was an expert in the Qi-Seeking Technique, and he was curious to see just what this Chen Family was up to.

”We’re almost there.”

The beautiful woman lifted her gaze toward a low mountain up ahead.

On the mountain stood a jade table, laden with fine wine and delicacies.

Two people were seated across from each other, chatting and laughing in low voices.

”Let me be frank with you. The Zhao Family is a Half-Life Immortal Family, just like the Qi and Yu Families. Moreover, Zhao Tinglan is the prodigy of the younger generation, his fame even greater than Yu Duchuan’s.”

”How could he possibly allow a Yu Family Disciple to outshine the disciples of his own Zhao Family?”

”This time, he brought eight Jade Disciples at Jade Liquid Perfection to his side, not to mention countless Magical Artifacts. If not for fear of tarnishing their reputation, they would have just sent a Core Formation True Master to assassinate him directly.”

”And on top of that, they have the Demons as a safety net.”

Steward Luo grew more and more excited as he spoke, downing several cups of wine in a row. ”By tomorrow, all these troubles will be gone for good.”
