Transmigrated as a Peasant Baby Who is Pampered by All

Chapter 669: Chapter 441: Digging a Pit

”But my big brother wasn’t wrong. I’ve indeed always wanted to marry Xiaomi.”

When Wei Ziang openly, rightly, and bluntly said this, Xiaomi was dumbfounded.

She even used her finger to clear her ears, confirming her hearing wasn’t faulty.

Even so, it took her a good while to come to her senses.

Then her eyes widened in disbelief, her hand trembling as she pointed at Wei Ziang.

Her mind was filled with one thought.

I thought of you as a buddy, and you actually want to sleep with me!

Her finger was grasped, and then her whole hand was wrapped in a warm large hand. Wei Ziang sighed lightly.

”I originally planned to tell you in two years. After all, Xiaomi isn’t interested in anyone else, so I wasn’t worried. Who knew my big brother would tell you so early.”

Xiaomi couldn’t help but mutter, ”Big brother said, I’m at the age that if I weren’t in Anning Village, there’d be a queue of suitors.”

She wasn’t speaking loudly, but Wei Ziang heard it clearly.

So, he raised an eyebrow and chuckled lightly, ”But, we’re in Anning Village now, and unless something unexpected happens, we’ll be here for at least three or four years until big brother goes to Nanyang Prefecture to take the local examination and leaves.”

The smile was somewhat smug, a rare youthful flair.

Xiaomi puffed her cheeks. This meant that in these three or four years, she didn’t have to worry about anyone proposing.

She had to admit, she originally thought the same. At least she’d be close for a few years.

But looking at the smug expression on her little brother, something seemed off.

But, at the moment, she couldn’t think of a good retort, frustrating!

Actually, Wei Ziang wasn’t as relaxed as he appeared, and even half of that show-off demeanor was staged.

He didn’t expect his big brother to come out like this, directly revealing his feelings to Xiaomi.

When he heard Xiaomi say that big brother claimed he wanted to marry her, his first thought was that he was screwed.

But he immediately admitted his feelings.

He couldn’t lie. Otherwise, Xiaomi would believe him and then completely think he had no intentions for her, even if he developed feelings in the future, she’d never consider him!

This was not the outcome Wei Ziang wanted.

He even thought that his big brother intentionally told Xiaomi early on for this very moment.

And he intentionally used this relaxed, joking tone, just so Xiaomi wouldn’t be too nervous.

Otherwise, if they wanted to go out together later, it wouldn’t be as carefree and joyful, and it might even make Xiaomi feel awkward and restrained.

Fortunately, he reacted quickly. At least for now, it didn’t have any negative impact. In fact, letting Xiaomi know his feelings wasn’t a bad thing.

Of course, he made a mental note to remember this against his big brother!

His big brother definitely wasn’t being kind; he surely set a trap for him!

As for not falling into the trap, that was because of his quick reaction, not because his big brother showed mercy!

Wei Ziang ground his teeth in exasperation, wanting to turn back immediately and have a good talk with his big brother, but he held back.

After all, it’s not just his big brother, it’s also his future brother-in-law.

Xiaomi surely didn’t think as much as Wei Ziang. She soon let go of that little bit of awkwardness and started talking to Wei Ziang about what else big brother had told her.

But Wei Ziang said it was similar to what his big brother told him, just advising them to be careful and not too high-profile.

”Big brother wasn’t wrong. You’ve been in Lishi City for just a few months and have already stirred up so many big events. It’s indeed a bit high-profile.”

On this point, Wei Ziang agrees with his big brother.

Seeing Xiaomi pout, he turned and smiled, ”But Xiaomi, don’t worry, we’ll be in Anning Village for a few years, there’s plenty of time, just take it slow.”

Xiaomi thought about it and realized he was right, even feeling happy. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

”You’re right, little brother. This winter we’ll dig up the potatoes in the mountains. In the first year, there won’t be much. It’ll take at least two or three years before it’s popularized around the border, by then we might already be heading to the Capital City.”

Xiaomi rubbed her chin, thinking. Her big brother could take the local exams when he came of age. She had a lot of confidence in her big brother. Afterward, he could participate in the Capital exams and even the palace exam.

But considering the timeline, she’d be sixteen then. Staying in the Capital with big brother would definitely be troublesome.

She was still thinking when little brother chimed in, ”When big brother is studying in the Capital City, we’ll head to the coast. After all, no one has seen the sea.”

Xiaomi’s eyes lit up, ”Right, we don’t necessarily have to stay in the Capital City. After all, big brother is talented. He won’t be worried staying in the Capital alone. We’ll not complicate things.”

Wei Ziang nodded earnestly, ”Yes, but Xiaomi, let’s not tell big brother for now. He needs to study hard and shouldn’t be distracted.”

”Got it, got it. Don’t let troublesome matters disturb him. Let him study at ease. Don’t worry, I certainly won’t say anything until he finishes the palace exam.”

They talked as if the palace exam was an especially light-hearted matter.

Wei Ziang laughed, agreeing.

Set traps? Who wouldn’t?

The two laughed and chatted, the earlier tension and awkwardness feeling like an insignificant episode, and once it passed, everything was fine.

When they were together now, it was no different from before, with Xiaomi chattering about the past month’s events.

Fishing for fun, secretly pouring Spiritual Spring water in the irrigation canal, and Ling’er helping with watering the fields with bamboo bucket made containers.

Wei Ziang listened attentively, with a smile on his face, responding from time to time, making Xiaomi more enthusiastic.

The two indeed had nothing particular to do today. Xiaomi suggested going upstream along the river, which was a spontaneous decision. Halfway there, finding nothing special, they turned around to check on the watermelons and potatoes they had planted earlier.

Wei Ziang had been away for a whole month, and although he had seen potato and watermelon seedlings in the space, the feeling was different.

Seeing the drastically changed potatoes and watermelons, especially under the irrigation of Spiritual Spring water, they were growing well despite the hot weather.

But besides the thriving potatoes and watermelons, weeds were also flourishing, so they had to do some weeding and such.

Luckily, they remembered Erniang’s reminders and watched the time, starting back around noon to perfectly coincide with meal time.

Meat doesn’t keep well in summer, so when they returned to the village, the smell of stewed beef was wafting everywhere, and Xiaomi even sniffed hard a couple of times.

”I think, although it’s all beef scented, there’s actually a difference in aroma.”

By then, they had reached home. Wei Ziang dismounted and went to help Xiaomi down.

”Everyone has different cooking methods, so the taste definitely varies. Let’s hurry home, or father and mother will start nagging again.”

As he spoke, Jiang Yu opened the door, spotting the two of them, his brow twitched, realizing his efforts had been in vain.
