Strongest Lord by Opening Blind Boxes

Chapter 312: Chapter 248: Intercepting Rockets, Bronze Ship

After collecting the Great Secret Treasure, Wang Yi headed straight for the Imperial Palace of the Ancient Barbarian Country.

At this time, Wang Bushi’s relentless bombing had thrown the entire Ancient Barbarian Royal Court into turmoil, leaving it with no defensive forces. The Ancient Barbarian High Priest lacked the influence to rally anyone, and the remaining soldiers were in complete disarray. The Imperial Palace was filled with refugees.

Wang Yi couldn’t be bothered to deal with the ordinary refugees.

By the time he reached the center of the Royal City, the Imperial Palace was already in ruins. Ahead of him was one final barrier, and within it stood the Bronze Altar.

In the Ancient Barbarian Country, the Bronze Altar was an existence that superseded even the Imperial Palace. It was regarded by the Ancient Barbarian priests as their ancestral land.

As Wang Yi sized up the Bronze Altar, he thought it looked like a pyramid forged from bronze—towering, majestic, ancient, and mysterious.

’Wait, could this bronze pyramid be the Bronze Ship?’

Wang Yi rubbed his chin, a thought forming in his mind. The more he looked at the Bronze Altar, the more it resembled a Cosmic Spaceship.

However, to get onto it and explore, he had to dispel the 20th barrier, which was also the last one remaining within the borders of the Ancient Barbarian Country.

Once this barrier was dispelled, the Bronze Altar could be inspected at will, and the entire Ancient Barbarian Country would no longer have any Air Barriers, making the whole territory free to explore.

And Wang Yi had received a system prompt: to dispel this final Air Barrier, he had to kill the Ancient Barbarian High Priest.

The Ancient Barbarian High Priest, however, was currently atop the Ancient Barbarian Altar, performing some unknown ritual. His sacrificial robes were immaculate, his movements fluid, and his expression serene, as if he were completely unaware of the war raging outside.

Man Datou charged through the final barrier. With a powerful, commanding stride, he headed for the Ancient Barbarian High Priest. Ordinary priests tried to block his path, foolishly throwing themselves at him one by one, but Man Datou simply cut a path of slaughter all the way to the top of the altar.

Just then, the Ancient Barbarian High Priest suddenly burst out laughing and shouted, ”The ritual is complete! The ancestral god has bestowed enlightenment! Foreign invader, can we not stop this now, and our two nations coexist in peace?”

The High Priest’s voice was resonant. Though Wang Yi was at the base of the altar, at least three or four hundred meters away, he could still hear every word with perfect clarity.

Wang Yi, however, just shook his head.

Man Datou scoffed, ”You barbarian! I gave you a chance to surrender earlier, and you refused. Now that my forces have razed your Royal Court, you want to sue for peace? Dream on! Just accept your death!”

With that, Man Datou raised his fist, ready to smash the Ancient Barbarian High Priest.

But a golden light suddenly flared from the Ancient Barbarian High Priest’s body. He laughed and said, ”If that’s how it is, then there is no way out! The ancestral god has given me enlightenment, revealing that you come from the Huaguo Mountain Territory! Now, I shall activate the ultimate destruction protocol. Let us perish together!”

After he spoke, it was unclear what the High Priest did, but honeycomb-like openings suddenly appeared on the four faces of the Bronze Altar. Objects resembling Bronze Rockets emerged from within, then quickly ignited and launched into the sky.

Wang Yi suddenly received a system prompt: ”Ding! The Ancient Barbarian Royal Court storyline has advanced. The Ancient Barbarian Country has fallen into desperation. The Ancient Barbarian High Priest has launched 36 Bronze Rockets carrying tactical missiles of mass destruction, which are about to bombard the Huaguo Mountain Territory!”

’Holy shit! You actually had a trick like that up your sleeve!’

Wang Yi was instantly alarmed.

’If 36 missiles of mass destruction really hit my Huaguo Mountain, that would be catastrophic!’

”Big Head, take him down!”

With that said, Wang Yi had no time to issue more commands. With a single thought, a mote of light flew from between his brows, transforming into a small Qiankun Universe Blade, which in turn immediately became the Starlight River.

Wang Yi stepped onto the Starlight River and immediately sped away.

He couldn’t let the tactical missiles land on his territory, so his only option was to intercept them manually.

The Starlight River was incredibly fast. It soared high into the sky and quickly caught up to one of the Bronze Rockets.

’Destroy it!’

With a thought, another Qiankun Universe Blade flew out from between Wang Yi’s eyebrows. Starlight erupted from its edge, forming a dense swarm of Starlight Flying Swords that quickly annihilated the Bronze Rocket heading toward Huaguo Mountain.

BOOM! The rocket exploded in midair, forming a mushroom cloud.

Riding the Starlight River, Wang Yi instantly shot away from the blast, completely unscathed. He continued on to intercept and destroy more Bronze Rockets.

And so, the Starlight River blazed across the heavens as mushroom cloud after mushroom cloud bloomed in the sky.

In less than five minutes, Wang Yi had already intercepted 35 Bronze Rockets. By now, he was nearing the Huaguo Mountain Territory and could even see the skyscraper-like Toilet Houses.

The final Bronze Rocket seemed to be heading straight for the summit of Huaguo Mountain.

’Hmph. You think it’s that easy to bomb my territory?’

Wang Yi pushed the Starlight River to go faster, easily catching up to the Bronze Rocket. He summoned the Qiankun Universe Blade to ram it, and the rocket instantly exploded.

With that, Wang Yi had intercepted all of the Bronze Rockets.

He glanced in the direction of Huaguo Mountain, then steered the Starlight River around and headed back to the Ancient Barbarian Royal Court.

Half a minute later, Wang Yi was standing once again atop the Ancient Barbarian Royal Court Bronze Altar.

By this time, the Ancient Barbarian High Priest had been killed, and the Ancient Barbarian Country’s final defensive barrier was gone. There were no more Air Barriers in the entire country, making the whole territory free to explore.

The Ancient Barbarian High Priest had also dropped two items: a [Certificate of Reincarnation as an Ancient Barbarian Sacrifice] and a [Sacrificial Staff]!

’Trash! This isn’t even as good as a single Green Blind Box!’

Wang Yi muttered to himself, and at that moment, he received another system prompt. ”Ding! Regional Announcement: The Ancient Barbarian Altar has been conquered. The system has determined that the Ancient Barbarian Dynasty has fallen!”

”Ding! World Announcement: The Ancient Barbarian Royal Court has been destroyed. All related storyline quests are now forcibly terminated. The territory of the Ancient Barbarian Country has become a free-roam zone!”

”Ding! World Announcement: The Ancient Barbarian Country storyline has advanced. Large numbers of Ancient Barbarian nobles are now fugitives. Four princely warbands still remain. Certain nobles harbor ambitions of restoring their nation. Players exploring the Ancient Barbarian Country are advised to be extremely cautious.”

”Ding! Campaign results tallied. Congratulations! You have completed an extraordinary achievement. Based on your profession, you are rewarded with: 1,000,000 Gold Coins, one Red Light Blind Box, one Red Light Chaos Egg, and one set of Red Light Construction Drawings!”

After the system prompts ended, three reward items appeared before Wang Yi.

[Chaos Egg: Red Light Quality. Consumes 100 Chaos Energy to hatch a valiant and battle-hardened Commander for you. He is resolute, brave, and fearless, possessing exceptional command talent. He excels at leading troops in do-or-die battles, assaults, and defensive stands. He will possess five skills.]

[Construction Drawings: Air Barrier. Red Light Quality. Special Item. When used, constructs an Air Barrier around the perimeter of your territory.

The Air Barrier is an invisible barrier that is off by default. The Lord Player can choose to activate it, which will continuously consume Gold Coins while active. It seals the territory, prohibiting non-residents from entering or exiting, but does not affect residents.

The Air Barrier tracks the status of your territory, expanding and contracting with its size. It can be breached by force. Its durability is roughly equivalent to a 5-meter-thick plate of alloy steel. Please explore further details on your own.

Special Condition: The Air Barrier can only be activated after your territory has been upgraded to a Royal Court.]

’An Air Barrier? Durability equal to a 5-meter-thick alloy steel plate, but it only works after my territory becomes a Royal Court? When the hell can I even upgrade to a Royal Court?’

Wang Yi muttered, but he still felt the rewards were decent.

Of course, what made him happiest was getting another Red Light Blind Box.

Soon, Wang Yi hatched the Red Light Chaos Egg. The Commander who emerged was a sturdy man who looked to be in his thirties, named [Hatos]. He possessed five skills: [Command Aura], [Foster Goodwill], [War Vanguard], [Mirror Image Professions], and [Inspire Morale].

Reading the skill descriptions, Wang Yi felt that [Hatos] was quite special. His [Mirror Image Professions] skill allowed him to transform into any of the soldiers under his command, gaining their appearance, skills, and more.

’Hatos can lead the War God Sparta’s troops in the future. Does that mean he’ll also be able to turn into a War God Sparta? That’s pretty interesting.’

Wang Yi thought to himself that he’d gained another Grand General. He waved a hand, instructing Hatos to wait at the Galaxy Airship, then gazed out at the ruins of the Royal Court and muttered, ”I wonder how much loot is left to plunder in these ruins... and this Bronze Altar definitely still holds some secrets...”

After a moment of thought, Wang Yi took out the [Bronze Ship Control Core].

The object was a small Bronze Ball, but it was currently emitting a faint glow, as if influenced by something nearby.

Holding the Bronze Ball, Wang Yi explored the area around the Bronze Altar. When he reached the base of the altar, the ball suddenly flared with a dazzling light.

’There’s something strange here!’

Wang Yi immediately understood. He continued to explore, using the bronze ball as a sensor. Soon, the Bronze Altar began to shift. A metal structure moved beneath it, quickly revealing a glowing entrance.

Holding the Bronze Ball, Wang Yi walked through the entrance and immediately felt as if he had boarded a Cosmic Spaceship.

He saw a massive chamber, a Crystal Throne, and on the dome above, strange patterns that resembled a star chart.

”Ding! You have discovered and entered the Bronze Ship.”

”Ding! Warning! A Celestial God Level Bright King Guard is activating!”

After the system prompt sounded, Wang Yi quickly saw a bronze statue shaped like a general, holding a long spear. Its eyes were closed as it slowly walked toward him.

「Meanwhile」

Far beyond the starry sky, in a vast, empty hall, a being clad in a starlight robe with an obscured face raised its head. She looked up at the space before her, where a ball of starlight had suddenly appeared. It looked like a miniature version of a vast galaxy, rotating slowly, containing countless points of light, like a starlight vortex.

”Reporting to the Divine Lord!” the robed figure said respectfully, her voice female. ”We have detected that the Ming King’s Bronze Ship has been activated.”

A female voice quickly emanated from the starlight vortex. ”That Newbie World... has it been investigated?”

”Reporting, Divine Lord. The Newbie World where the Ming King is located is called the Typhon World. It has not been open for long, and its progression should still be in the initial stages. However, the World Line has been reinforced, making it difficult for us to descend.”

”Accelerate its world progression. If necessary, support a Royal Court and have it ascend quickly to open the World Line.”

The robed figure nodded in acknowledgment. Then, with a wave of her hand, back inside the Bronze Ship, the bronze statue walking toward Wang Yi suddenly opened its eyes. It opened its mouth and spoke, ”Lucky little Player, are you willing to accept my support to establish a Royal Court and ascend quickly?”
