Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Some Small Trinkets for You

CHUGGA CHUGGA CHUGGA...

The little train passed through Shanhai Pass and out onto the sea.

With a ROAR, the entire thing burst into flames. Raging fire erupted from the carriages, turning it into a true ”fire-train.” Yet, its speed only increased, kicking up two wakes of churning water.

Inside the train, however, everything was calm and steady. It was so stable that one couldn’t even feel it moving at high speed. The temperature within the carriages was also pleasant; after all, the terrifying flames outside were merely a light and shadow effect.

The Floating Mountain had also flown out past Shanhai Pass. Wang Yi stood on its peak with Qin Mo by his side, gazing out over the sea with a sense of wonder.

Once out at sea and standing at a high vantage point, he discovered that Shanhai Pass was not just a section of walls and towers. In reality, the entire coastline of Mengbai Island had been fortified with a great wall.

The walls were generally over fifty meters high, built to suit the local topography. They followed the terrain, either rising directly from the coastal reefs or connecting to the mountainsides. The interior of the island was now the area ”within the pass,” so entering the pass meant entering the island. However, there was only one main gate, and the Defense Towers were only clustered around it.

’Building Shanhai Pass on an island essentially means enclosing the entire island. What would happen if I built it on Black Stone Mountain?’

Wang Yi was quite curious. He controlled the Floating Mountain, pushing its speed to the maximum, and glanced down at the little train below. He muttered to himself, ”Driving a train on a waterway! To get to Black Stone Mountain, I need to go upstream along the Li River. Now, where is the mouth of the Li River...”

Wang Yi was piloting the Floating Mountain to lead the way, but he didn’t know the route himself. He could only search by instinct. Fortunately, with his wide field of vision, finding the way wasn’t too difficult.

As for the person controlling the little train below, it was Man Datou!

He stood in the driver’s cabin at the front, while the members of the Civilian Militia were in the first and second carriages, all pressed against the windows and gawking at the view outside.

Meanwhile, Nangong Jin, Wadu, the Octagonal Cage Soldiers, the Rock Giant Scorpion, and the others remained on Mengbai Island to continue scavenging for supplies and hunting wild monsters.

Because it had to follow the Floating Mountain, the little train’s speed was limited to under 40 kilometers per hour, but even so, the sight was absolutely terrifying.

There were quite a few merchant and passenger ships in the coastal waters of the East Sea. When the people aboard saw the little train, they were all aghast. Some shouted that it was a monster, others a Fire Dragon, while some were simply too stunned to speak...

In short, a train engulfed in flames, speeding across the surface of the sea, led by a small mountain—the sensation this caused among the simple Indigenous People was likely no less than an Immortal descending to the mortal world.

An hour later, Wang Yi found the mouth of the Li River. After the little train followed the Floating Mountain into the river channel, its speed increased noticeably.

Of course, it was also seen by more people, prompting even more cries of alarm.

Three more hours passed, and they reached their destination. The little train came to a stop at a pier behind Black Stone Mountain.

There were many black-robed Monks active on the pier. The arrival of the Floating Mountain and the little train sent them fleeing in a panic; not a single one dared to approach.

Wang Yi was, in a sense, revisiting an old haunt. He looked up at Black Cliff on Black Stone Mountain, then glanced at the surrounding scenery and muttered to himself, ”This must be the back of Black Stone Mountain. It’s actually a great spot to build a large pier!”

Next, Wang Yi directed the Floating Mountain to fly directly over Black Cliff. He saw many black-robed Monks below and wondered about the current situation on the mountain. ’Are they planning to build a temple here?’

’Whatever the situation, I’m claiming this territory!’

Wang Yi didn’t hesitate. He brought the Floating Mountain down for a landing, causing the crowd of black-robed Monks to scatter and flee.

”A Divine Being is Moving Mountains!”

”What? The Divine Being is back? Damn it, I just joined Jinbo Temple!”

”What is the Divine Being going to do? Is he here to punish us?”

”Surely not. The Abbot said he wanted to build a branch of Jinbo Stronghold and Jinbo Temple here, but we haven’t even laid the foundation yet. We haven’t done anything bad!”

”The Divine Being must be able to see the future! He knows we were going to get into the same shady business as Black Mountain Stronghold, so he’s come to punish us in advance!”

”What do we do then?”

”Run! Just run!”

Filled with terror and unease, the black-robed Monks soon scattered until not a single one was left.

Seeing this, Wang Yi thought to himself, ’Well, that saves me the trouble of chasing them off.’

He stepped off the Floating Mountain, took out the [Construction Drawings of Shanhai Pass], and used them. The entire Black Stone Mountain immediately began to shake. Atop Black Cliff, ancient but towering gatehouses and city walls slowly emerged, as if growing right out of the mountaintop.

However, unlike the Shanhai Pass on Mengbai Island, which resembled a massive sea dam, the one built on Black Stone Mountain was a small, square fortress. It occupied the entirety of Black Cliff, with towering fifty-meter-high walls rising along the precipice. It had four gatehouses, four gates, and four plaques inscribed with ”The First Pass Under Heaven.” The 24 Fire Watch Defense Towers were also distributed evenly among the four walls.

A stone stele inscribed with the two words ”Shanhai Pass” appeared at the foot of the mountain, facing north, seemingly to mark the north as outside the pass and the south as inside.

’A Shanhai Pass like this is even easier to defend and harder to attack. The space inside is large enough to build a small city, too.’

Wang Yi was very satisfied. With Shanhai Pass established, the territory was claimed. The 24 Fire Watch Defense Towers would defend it automatically. Even with no one here, the difficulty of breaching it would certainly be much greater than attacking the original Black Mountain Stronghold.

’The next step is to expand the port below. I could also establish a large market here. Making money isn’t the point; the key is to acquire resources from this place...’

Wang Yi silently began making his plans.

At this very moment, the arrival of the Floating Mountain and the little train had alarmed Kaiyuan County, Qinghe County, the Red Tiger Camp, Jinbo Temple...

Countless factions were startled into action, each dispatching people to rush toward Black Stone Mountain.

The fastest to arrive were the troops from the Red Tiger Camp. This time, Lu Aqi led the party himself, followed by over three hundred men, all on warhorses.

When they saw the magnificent ancient fortress that had appeared on Black Stone Mountain, they were all dumbfounded, suspecting they had come to the wrong place.

’What is going on? An ancient city appeared out of thin air, covering the entire mountaintop... Is this still the world I know?’

Lu Aqi felt both curious and uneasy. He halted his troops, preventing them from advancing further, and simply stared from a distance at the magnificent fortress on the peak and the small mountain suspended above it.

And that Floating Mountain began to slowly fly toward them.

The government soldiers immediately tensed as if facing a great enemy, their panic palpable. Lu Aqi pinched his palm hard to suppress his fear. He clasped his hands in a salute toward the Floating Mountain and shouted, ”Lu Aqi, Fourth-Grade Cavalry General of the Golden Sparrow Country and Commander of the Red Tiger Camp, pays his respects to the Divine Being! May I ask what guidance the Divine Being has for us?”

He lowered his head, showing his deference.

The Floating Mountain hovered in place. Wang Yi’s voice, amplified by Prototype No. 1, boomed down, ”I am taking this Black Stone Mountain. Do you have any objections?”

”I wouldn’t dare!”

Lu Aqi quickly responded. He raised his head slightly and saw a giant sitting atop the Floating Mountain. ’It’s just like the legends say,’ he thought. ’Neither Buddhist nor Daoist, something not of this mortal world. But he doesn’t look like that Yang Wanli!’

”Good that you don’t dare! I have requisitioned this land. In the future, I will build shipyards, expand the pier, and create a marketplace for merchant caravans to trade. I trust the Government Office will make things convenient and not interfere!”

’Build shipyards? Expand the pier? Create a marketplace?’

Lu Aqi didn’t understand what the Divine Being planned to do. He didn’t dare to ask, and he certainly didn’t dare to disagree. He just clasped his hands and said, ”Rest assured, Divine Being. As long as I am here, I will not allow anyone to come and cause a disturbance.”

”Very good. What is your name?”

”I am Lu Aqi!”

”Good. I’ll remember that. You seem decent. I’ll give you a few trinkets as a greeting gift.”

Wang Yi took out a bag of Fasting Pills and a bag of Piyao Pills. With a slight gesture, Qin Mo appeared, took the two bags of pills, and swiftly delivered them down the mountain.
