My Sister Stole My Mate, And I Let Her

Chapter 522: Chapter 522 WORTH EVERY HEARTBREAK

SERAPHINA’S POV

The world disappeared.

The lake, the moon, the whispering trees, the gentle breeze teasing strands of my hair, all dissolved into the background until only one thing remained.

Kieran.

Down on one knee.

Looking at me as though I was the answer to every prayer he’d ever dared whisper to the Moon Goddess.

Tears blurred my vision, fracturing the moonlight into a thousand shimmering stars, and I couldn’t breathe.

Not because my chest hurt, but because my heart was impossibly full.

Full of love. Of gratitude. Of memories that folded over one another until I could hardly tell where the past pain ended and the present joy began.

For so many years, I’d believed happiness belonged to other people.

To daughters who grew up wrapped in their parents’ love.

To wives whose husbands looked at them with adoration instead of obligation.

To mates who were chosen without hesitation.

To families who laughed together instead of merely coexisting beneath the same roof.

I’d watched those lives from a distance for so long that I’d convinced myself they were never meant for me.

Instead, I’d learned to survive, to expect very little, and to be grateful for whatever scraps of affection life happened to throw my way.

Yet standing here now, looking at the man I had loved for what felt like my entire life, and hearing him promise that he chose me—not because fate had demanded it, not because duty had cornered him, not because Daniel had existed or because circumstance had forced his hand—I couldn’t help wondering if this was what miracles felt like.

Was it really possible for one person to have everything?

Because somehow, against all odds, it felt like I did.

A family that loved me.

A son who adored me.

Friends who would walk through fire beside me.

A pack that had become my home.

Alina.

Ashar.

A future I’d once believed was impossible.

Every lonely night.

Every cold word.

Every tear I’d muffled into a pillow so Daniel wouldn’t hear me.

Every birthday spent pretending I wasn’t disappointed.

Every anniversary that had passed unnoticed.

Every time I’d convinced myself that I was fine with being invisible...

It all seemed so impossibly far away.

Those years would never be erased. They’d broken and then painstakingly rebuilt us into the version standing beneath this moon tonight, fortified by pain rather than destroyed by it.

Maybe that was why my heart no longer ached when I looked back on the past—because the future stretching out before us was brighter than everything we’d left behind.

A sob escaped before I could stop it.

Kieran’s expression tightened.

”Sera...”

His voice was gentle, laced with a caution that made my heart squeeze. How was it that he looked more terrified than when he’d faced Malachar?

”I...”

Gods.

After everything Kieran had just laid bare—every regret, every apology, every promise he’d poured into that beautiful, heartbreaking speech—I was standing here in silence, so choked up with emotion that I’d apparently forgotten how to speak.

His hopeful smile began to waver, uncertainty creeping into it.

He clutched the velvet box so tight that his knuckles blanched, as if he were bracing himself for an answer he suddenly wasn’t sure he wanted to hear.

”Sera?” he asked again, even more quietly.

I opened my mouth, determined to say something, but another sob caught in my throat before a single word could escape.

A warm ripple of amusement flowed through our bond, and Ashar’s voice echoed through my mind, filled with the fond exasperation of someone watching two hopeless romantics make things unnecessarily difficult.

‘The word you’re looking for is yes.’

A stunned laugh burst out of me through the tears and hiccups.

Then I looked into those beautiful dark eyes that had once struggled to see me, and now couldn’t seem to look anywhere else, and the answer burst out of me.

“Yes!” I gasped as I fell to my knees before Kieran and cupped his face in my hands.

His eyes fluttered closed, leaning into my touch. When they opened again, they were shining.

”Kieran.” My thumb brushed gently across his cheek.

”You’ve spent this whole time apologizing for the past, but all I can think about is how grateful I am that I get to spend the rest of my life with the man before me now.”

His breath caught as I continued.

”I loved you when loving you hurt. I loved you when I thought you’d never love me back.” My voice trembled as a tear slipped down my cheek. ”And I loved you enough to let you go when I thought that was what would make you happiest.”

A broken breath escaped him.

”But this...” I glanced at the ring before meeting his eyes again. ”You’re not the man who married me ten years ago.”

I smiled, my heart so full it almost hurt.

”You’re the man who fought for me. Who learned me. Who chooses me—not because he has to, but because he wants to.”

I rested my forehead against his.

”That man is worth every heartbreak it took to find.”

His eyes slid shut, a single tear escaping beneath his lashes.

”So yes, Kieran.” My voice broke around the words. ”I’ll absolutely marry you again.”

He let out a long, trembling breath, the sound breaking into a laugh as every ounce of nervousness melted from his face.

”Thank the Gods,” he whispered.

His hands shook as he slipped the moonstone ring onto my finger. It settled there as though it had always belonged, the silver band glowing against my skin.

”My fiancée,” he murmured, staring at it in wonder.

I let out a choked laugh.

”My fiancé.”

The next instant, he kissed me.

Softly. Reverently.

It wasn’t the desperate kiss of two people afraid they might lose each other. It wasn’t driven by longing denied or years of regret.

It was a promise, slow and unhurried, poured into every gentle brush of his lips until I could feel the truth of every word he’d spoken lingering between us.

When we pulled apart, our foreheads rested together, our breaths mingling beneath the full moon as quiet, disbelieving laughter escaped us both, dissolving the last of our tears into smiles.

”I love you,” Kieran whispered.

”I know.”

”I’ll spend the rest of my life proving it.”

“I know.”

His smile was heart-wrenchingly tender as he brushed my hair behind my ear, his fingertips lingering against my cheek.

Then his eyes searched mine, silently asking a question.

I answered by closing the distance between us once more.

The moon watched over us as we gave ourselves to each other completely.

Every touch spoke of trust regained, every lingering kiss of wounds healed, every whispered declaration another thread binding together the life we had fought so hard to reclaim.

When Alina stirred within me, Ashar answered at once as we drew closer to the moment our souls had been waiting for since the moment fate first bound us together.

Kieran’s eyes searched mine one last time.

”Are you sure?”

I smiled, my heart overflowing.

There was no hesitation—no images of ashes or blood or death.

Only me, my mate, and the blessing of the moon.

”I’ve never been surer of anything.”

His hand was warm on my nape as his lips found the place where my neck met my shoulder, and I felt the gentle sting of his bite, followed by a surge of warmth that flooded through every part of me.

Alina’s joy burst through our bond, brilliant and unrestrained, as something ancient and sacred finally clicked into place.

Tears filled my eyes as I turned my head and returned the mark, my own bite no less tender than his.

Ashar’s triumphant howl echoed through our joined souls as the completed mate bond blazed between us beneath the full moon, brighter and stronger than ever before.

And for the first time since fate had brought us together all those years ago, we were truly, completely one.

At long last, the story of our regrets and pain had come to an end.

The story of our forever, though, was only just beginning.

***

Aaaaahhhhh! I can’t believe it.

After a little over a year, My Sister Stole My Mate, And I Let Her has finally come to an end.

When I first started this story, I had no idea how much it would grow or how many incredible people would join me on this journey.

What started as an idea became hundreds of Chapters, countless late nights, and a world that began to feel as real to me as my own.

None of it would have meant nearly as much without you.

Thank you for taking a chance on this story.

Thank you for reading, commenting, theorizing, laughing, crying, celebrating the victories, surviving the heartbreak, loving—and hating, lol—these characters as fiercely as I do.

Thank you for sticking with me through every twist, every cliffhanger, and every emotional roller coaster.

Every message, every kind word, every discussion about your favorite—and worst—moments reminded me why I kept writing, even on the difficult days.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Although this is the end of the official story, it isn’t really goodbye.

Kieran and Sera’s story has reached its happily ever after, but their lives—and the lives of everyone we’ve come to love—continue beyond these pages.

There are still weddings to celebrate, family chaos to survive, new adventures to experience, and plenty of moments that happen after the fairy tale ending.

There will be bonus Chapters featuring your favorite characters and couples, giving us the chance to spend a little more time with everyone who helped make this journey so unforgettable while answering some questions and resolving some subplots I didn’t have the chance to fit into the main story.

I already have so many moments I can’t wait to share with you, so keep an eye out for them.

Until then, I hope this story stays with you in the same way it will always stay with me.
