Mystic Eyes: My Eyes Steal the Laws of Cultivation

Chapter 609: Technique of Sound Qi Resonance

Kyrian crossed the entrance of the enormous circular hall and immediately noticed that the atmosphere had completely changed, as if he had crossed an invisible boundary between two distinct worlds.

Outside, the Heavenly Descent Festival continued in full swing, a cacophony of voices, footsteps, vendors announcing their goods, and groups of cultivators discussing the competitions, forming a constant mass of sounds, a chaotic symphony pulsing with the energy of the crowd.

Inside, however, everything seemed different. The silence was almost solemn, a stillness that seemed to emanate from the very walls, as if the hall were guarding ancient secrets that should not be disturbed by unnecessary noise.

The air was denser, heavier, and charged with the energy of countless spiritual formations.

The circular walls were built from extremely ancient gray stone, marked by countless inscriptions that had lost some of their clarity over the passing years.

Some were simple decorative symbols, drawings that seemed to tell stories of forgotten eras. Others appeared to be fragments of ancient formations, so worn that it was impossible to fully understand their original purpose, like words from a book whose pages had been torn away.

Spiritual lights floated near the ceiling, spreading a soft illumination throughout the hall, a light that created no shadows, filling every corner with an even and comforting brightness. The effect was hypnotic, as if the hall itself were breathing light.

There were approximately five hundred participants, all occupying predetermined positions, each at their own dark stone table. The tables were arranged in concentric circles around the central platform, creating a pattern reminiscent of the ripples of a lake after a stone is thrown onto its surface.

Kyrian looked at the small jade plaque bearing the number one hundred and twenty-seven and walked to the corresponding table, located in the third circle. The table was made of dark, perfectly polished stone, so smooth that it reflected the lantern light like a mirror. There was absolutely nothing on it, aside from a small circular stand, and a depression in the center that seemed designed to hold something.

Kyrian sat down, his back remaining straight while his body completely relaxed, a posture that balanced readiness and calm. His violet eyes swept across the hall, observing his competitors with a curiosity he made no attempt to hide.

Five hundred people, each with their own story, their own path, their own hopes. Different ages, some young like him, others with gray hair and deep wrinkles.

Different weapons, swords, sabers, spears, hammers, bows, and even some exotic weapons he could not identify.

Different cultivation methods, some emanating a cold energy, others a hot one, and others a complex mixture that seemed to contain elements of various natures.

Some appeared confident, their eyes shining with the certainty of those who had already overcome many challenges. Others displayed obvious tension, their bodies rigid, their hands gripping the arms of their chairs.

A young man in front of him repeatedly tapped his fingers against the table, a nervous rhythm that Kyrian could hear even from a distance.

A woman, several positions to his left, breathed deeply, trying to calm her own mind, her eyes closed in meditation.

There were also some cultivators speaking in low voices, probably trying to speculate about the content of the second test, their whispering voices blending into an indistinct murmur.

Kyrian remained silent, his hands resting on the stone table. He was not nervous; in fact, he was curious, a curiosity that warmed his chest like a gentle flame.

The first comprehension test had been based on a movement technique, the Ten Steps of the Gale. Now, according to the organizers, the second phase would use a different technique, something that would test not only his ability to imitate movements but also his understanding of deeper principles.

He wanted to find out which one.

A few minutes later, a familiar spiritual pressure emerged in the center of the hall, a presence that seemed to fill the entire space effortlessly. The same elder responsible for the first phase appeared atop the raised circular platform, his movements so smooth that he seemed to have emerged from the air itself.

His white hair was simply tied behind his head, a modest bun that contrasted with his imposing presence. His face displayed few wrinkles despite his age, and his eyes were extremely tranquil, like deep lakes reflecting a cloudless sky.

When he appeared, the conversations ceased naturally, as if silence were an automatic response to his presence.

The elder observed the five hundred participants, his gaze sweeping across every face with an attention that seemed to penetrate beyond appearances.

“Congratulations to those who managed to advance.” His voice was not loud, but thanks to the formations spread throughout the walls, every word reached everyone’s ears clearly, as if he were speaking directly beside each person.

“Of the approximately two thousand participants in the first phase, only five hundred managed to reach this stage. This means that you are among the best in terms of basic comprehension.”

Some cultivators smiled discreetly, their chests swelling with silent pride. Others remained indifferent, their eyes fixed on the elder, waiting for what would come next.

The elder continued, his voice maintaining the same calm tone.

“But do not think that this means the second phase will be easier. On the contrary, the true challenge is about to begin.”

With a movement of his hand, spiritual energy began gathering above the platform. Golden lines appeared in the air, at first only a few, then dozens, then hundreds, intertwining into increasingly complex patterns.

The symbols intertwined and formed increasingly complex characters, as if they were being written by an invisible hand.

Finally, large words appeared in the space above the arena, glowing with an intense golden light.

“Technique of Sound Qi Resonance.”

A murmur swept through the hall, a wave of speculation that passed through the participants.

“Sound Qi?”

“I’ve never heard of this technique.”

“It seems to be a sound-attributed technique.”

“How is this going to work?”

Kyrian also raised his eyebrows slightly, his violet eyes fixed on the golden words. A sound technique. Interesting.

The elder waited a few seconds until the murmur subsided, allowing anticipation to settle in.
