Paragon Of Sin

1849 Chapter 1842: Final Act (16)

The act of remaining idle while secretly observing the concoction processes of each Zenith was quite a task. Alchemy was a culmination of continuous successes and minute failures leading to great products or horrendous outcomes, so a single moment of inattention could leave gaping holes in proper knowledge and understanding.

Wei Wuyin was relying heavily on his vast stores of mental energies and his Second Mind, dividing the task of observing them, while utilizing his unparalleled perception of the Void and mental fluctuations to gather every fragment of information that was both internal and external.

Throughout Wei Wuyinʼs life, while he had momentary half-teachers, such as Wu Yu and Wu Jiao, much of his comprehension, understanding, methods, and knowledge were gathered through records, scrolls, tomes, and books properly categorized, formatted, and elaborated on by either himself or his Second Mind.

He was a lone star that dared to shine as bright as it could, influenced by no one to take a certain path like many Blessed that relied and followed the legacies of others to grow. Even the King of Everlore was a springboard for his Alchemical Lineage, developing his own style of products and specialties that were all his own. Every step of his cultivation was supplemented by his defiant will against the heavens and the Eighteen Calamities of Hell, allowing him to forge a platform of a true paragon to stand on with his family by his side.

Rarely did Wei Wuyin learn from others directly, and he fully understood that studying the paths of others, while beneficial, can generate obstacles of limits. These limits could bog down your choices, continuously leading you down a path of only being slightly superior, gated by the limits of past brilliance.

Hadnʼt Long Chen, Yuan Longshi, Lin Ming, and Yi Yun been pigeonholed into following the paths of their ancestors with only slight differences? Not a single one dared to carve out their own path as a mortal, forcing them to continuously be at a disadvantage against him.

Establishing his own path was his only way to survive the chaotic and inevitable disaster that was the Calamities of Hell. If not, how could he have possibly survived as a mere mortal time and again against Hell itself?

ʼSo the Extraction Process is best performed using principles of mutual suppression and augmentation to balance the energies, preventing any loss of energy or essence, and then infusing…ʼ Wei Wuyin analyzed Heaven-Saint Extracting Divinityʼs technique, grasping the fundamentals through extrapolation and continuous conjecture.

Then, heʼd test this process through mental simulation, starting from products at the first-grade to ninth-grade of the Mortal-Rank. While this wasnʼt exactly accurate, Eden rarely failed in calculating the outcomes or generating realistically effective results.
The Second Mind would then cross-reference all arts, spells, concoction methods he knew, and subtle techniques implied in journals of alchemists, often theories and further conjectures that supported it. There were notable annotations, minor alterations, and then extensively justified corrections, tested and calculated by Eden before coming back to his Second Mindʼs neurotic desire for perfection and studying it yet again.

This repeated process was wondrous to an inestimable extreme, and had yielded methods like the Neo-Dawn Visualization Method and Wei Wuyinʼs recent products such as the Neo-Dawn Dual-Dao Potion(Elixir) and Neo-Dawn Blood-Howl Paste. Due to his limits on time, much of his calculations were mental, and this established a degree of methodology that was unprecedented among alchemists who followed a similar path of calculation.

While Wei Wuyin wasnʼt the first to be able to execute this mental technique, the sheer quality and quantity of his mental energies and the vast, stupendously large reserves of his four Astral Souls alongside the ceaseless replenishment from Little Defiant that was downright criminal, allowed him to leverage these advantages to achieve a degree of mental calculations and simulations that was unimaginably complex and unnaturally realistic. Any normal cultivator wouldnʼt be able to perform such highly intense mental calculations before exhausting themselves.

Soon, a total of four whole years had passed by.

In a full four years, each Zenith had varying degrees of progress.

Heaven-Saint Extracting Divinity had failed his first Refinement Process shortly after Heaven-Saint Containing Creation and Heaven-Saint Fusing Souls. He had to restart his second process. He had successfully completed his Refinement Process, entering the phases of Creation. For the Edict Potion, the Creation Process was notoriously difficult; the energies and essences that had been refined into a single whole had a great volatility towards all things mana, and for elixirs, they needed additional treatment with mana to liquefy properly or else digesting them was stupidly difficult.

Heaven-Saint Extracting Divinity failed his second at this stage. He took a year break, making additional preparations, and then began to process again. He was currently at the Growth Process.

Heaven-Saint Growing Immortality displayed her advantages when it came to cultivation, allowing her to control these energies to a greater degree than the others. She reached the Creation Process in her first try, yet upon attempting to liquefy the amalgamation of refined energies and essences, she failed as her entire region was almost sucked into a hole of chaotic space.

It took a full month before her region was stabilized and reconstructed. She began again and had just reached the Creation Process yet again after taking a slightly slower and more cautious approach.

Heaven-Saint Infinite Containment—Suo Kai-Ming, was meticulous to an extreme. She had reached the Transformation Process. She had fought extremely hard to reach this point, and with her unique spells, she could isolate and contain any disastrous outcomes, then using a little effort, stabilize the situation to begin again. Her technique was extraordinary, but none of the Zeniths envied or felt inferior to her.

Such tactics were bound to generate flaws and impurities, and while she was slow and methodical here, her final product was certainly going to suffer significantly should she succeed. In their eyes, as long as they succeeded, they should be able to claim victory over this stubborn turtle of a woman.

Heaven-Saint Refining Skies had succeeded the Refinement Process with true ease, not a single mistake could be located throughout, but upon reaching the Creation Process, he failed twice as devastation ravaged his region. He was on his third attempt.

Heaven-Saint Containing Creation—Tianshi Zaoxuan—was eliminated; he failed all three sets, all at the Refinement Process. Despite that, he was entirely unashamed by the result and began meditating as if this clash didnʼt concern him. Wei Wuyin was speechless.

However, the audience understood why he didnʼt care about failing all three sets, and that was because of the idle and indifferent Wei Wuyin who spent his time sleeping, eating, and sleeping some more. Since he was out in the open for everyone to see with zero obstruction, he genuinely was unapologetically shameless to them.

Even Luo Ning couldnʼt excuse Wei Wuyinʼs habits to those watching. He would only occasionally pull out a spiritual jade or scroll and read.

Regardless, as long as one out of seven of them succeeds, Wei Wuyin would lose. And if this lazy foreigner didnʼt create anything, it would be declared a tie. The rules stated that he had to win against four out of seven. A tie was not a win. If he didnʼt succeed, and they didnʼt succeed, then only a complete failure on their behalf would generate a tie. It was a slim chance, but given they were concocting a Mystic-Heaven grade product with only three sets, it was possible.

If that happened, Wei Wuyin would be 1 - 0 - 1, and firmly in the lead. If he won a single match after that, there was no chance for them—they would lose.

But obviously, they didnʼt have such considerations; the Zeniths had already agreed on a scapegoat to complete a finished product—Suo Kai-Ming. The rest competed with each other, and they had long since agreed to give her appropriate payment afterward. No one said an All-Alchemic Clash was fair!

Heaven-Saint Transforming Worlds was the youngest and slowest, and displayed the best techniques with frightening fortune as if assisted by an unknown force. He reached the Transformation Process in a single go and then entered the Fusion Process. However, at the last stage of the Alchemical Concoction Process—the Alchemical Step, when trying to liquidize the concoction into a proper elixir, it collapsed and dissipated suddenly and silently.

The young Heavenly Saint Alchemist stood there with a blank expression, looking at a full three years of his life—wasted. It vanished into the chaotic emptiness of the Blank Dominion as if it didnʼt exist.

While largely considered the simplest step, it was also the most complex! Even in the Utmost Purity Galaxy, this was a controversial topic.

And from his abrupt failure, the entire audience could see that the accumulation of false successes and unnoticed minute failures had been his downfall. He couldnʼt make it to the finish line.

The Alchemic Dao was as limitless as it was difficult!

Heaven-Saint Transforming Worlds didnʼt take a break from the failure. He picked himself back up and attempted again. The next two tries failed almost with unimaginable speeds, likely a result of his dejection and inner turmoil, directly exploding during the Extraction Process. He joined Tianshi Zaoxuan in the failure unit.

Heaven-Saint Fusing Souls was unexpectedly calm despite his past failure, and began with a similar energy as before. At the end of the four years, during his second set, he stood before a clear vial of golden liquid that swished with a heavenly glow containing an seemingly infinite amount of mystic runes. At times, these runes condensed into 3000 separate runes that emanated a strong, unrivaled Worldly Radiance before morphing back into a mass of lesser runes.

THE FIRST SUCCESS!!
