School Beauty's Personal Crazy Young Master

Chapter 1162: Chapter 1248: Don’t Try to Guess a Girl’s Heart

Chu Wenrou was silent for a moment, then shook her head and said, ”Stop it, anyway, that jerk is just unreliable.”

”You’ve never even interacted with him, how can you just write him off like that? What if he’s reliable? Wouldn’t that be a waste?” Cheng Bingbing, against her better judgment, kept speaking highly of Chen Nan.

Chu Wenrou wasn’t a fool and gradually became wary.

She turned her head and looked at Cheng Bingbing, saying, ”Ice Woman, you better be honest with me. Did that jerk give you some kind of benefit, why are you constantly speaking up for him?”

”This, how... how is that possible.”

Cheng Bingbing was startled, and couldn’t help but start to stammer.

Chu Wenrou became even more suspicious, staring at her, she said, ”If not, then why are you speaking so hesitantly?”

”When have I been hesitant? Don’t frame me, okay?” Cheng Bingbing hurriedly explained... no, to be precise, defended herself: ”As a good sister, I just don’t want you to miss out on a good man. You don’t know how outstanding this guy is. Back during military training, he set a 1,500-meter record with a Type 95 rifle, which shocked the entire camp. Do you even know what 1,500 meters means? Even in the special forces, no one has ever set such a record!”

Chu Wenrou scratched her head: ”But what does that have to do with me? Is being good with guns such a big deal? I’m not a soldier. If you like him, why don’t you marry him yourself.”

”I’d love to marry him, but the problem is, he likes you; he doesn’t fancy me!” Cheng Bingbing was exaggerating so much, she was practically putting Chen Nan on a pedestal.

Chu Wenrou said, ”Why do you keep saying good things about him?”

”Alright, since you don’t believe me, I’ll shut up from now. Whether you want to go along with him is your decision.” Cheng Bingbing also realized if she kept boasting, it would only backfire.

Chu Wenrou looked at her full of doubt, and after a moment said, ”Hey, Ice Woman, are you really not being bribed by him?”

”What kind of person do you take me for? I, Cheng Bingbing, regard money as dirt and handsome men as corny. Do you think I’m that easily bought?” Cheng Bingbing said with full confidence, righteously.

The reason for such confidence was that she was telling the truth.

She truly regarded money as dirt, but unfortunately, she had no resistance when it came to the temptation of peerless martial arts.

As Chu Wenrou’s best friend for many years, she naturally understood her disposition, muttering, ”I know you don’t love money, but what if that guy offered secret martial arts manuals as an exchange!”

Cheng Bingbing was startled, thinking to herself that this girl knew her too well.

However, she quickly reacted, remaining calm because she knew if Chu Wenrou saw through this, everything would be over.

”What about the secret martial arts manual, I’d still refuse him without hesitation!” Cheng Bingbing said, patting her chest.

Chu Wenrou put her arm around her shoulders, saying, ”Just for that sentence, I believe you, sister!”

Cheng Bingbing nodded in agreement, but inside she felt a bit guilty. Although this wasn’t really a betrayal, she was using this as a condition in exchange for the secret martial arts manual!

Just as she felt guilty, Chen Nan had already come out of the kitchen, placing the food on the table.

”Ladies, dinner is served.”

Chu Wenrou walked over and saw that all the dishes on the table were her favorites, and couldn’t help but look at Chen Nan in surprise, ”How did you know I like these?”

”I said I must win you over, so naturally, I had to do some research about you. If I didn’t even know what you like to eat, how could I pursue you?” Chen Nan said, placing three pairs of chopsticks on the table, ”Come on, have a taste and see how it is.”

Chu Wenrou was somewhat touched.

She thought to herself, it seems this guy has really put some thought into me. The only question is, how long can his enthusiasm last?

”Hey, are you moved?”

Cheng Bingbing nudged her with her elbow, whispering.

Chu Wenrou came to her senses, feigned indifference, walked over, picked up her chopsticks, and took a bite: ”It tastes great.”

”Then eat more. If it’s not enough, I’ll make more for you,” Chen Nan said.

Even though she couldn’t possibly finish the whole table, hearing Chen Nan say that made Chu Wenrou’s heart feel warm.

After all, people are not insensible; who can be without feelings?

Her only worry now was that Chen Nan’s affection for her was just a flash in the pan. Perhaps once he got bored, he would lose interest. She lacked confidence in matters of the heart and didn’t believe any man would like someone like her.

”What are you thinking? Hurry up and eat, it won’t taste good if it gets cold.” Chen Nan served her some food.

Chu Wenrou swallowed a mouthful of rice, ”Chen Nan, you...”

”What’s up? If you’ve got something to say, just say it, don’t beat around the bush,” Chen Nan looked at her puzzled. He hadn’t seen Chu Wenrou look this serious before.

Chu Wenrou gritted her teeth, then shook her head, ”Forget it, it’s nothing, let’s eat.”

She initially wanted to ask if Chen Nan was sincere, but when the words came to her lips, she felt it wasn’t necessary. Even if she asked, he would surely say he was sincere, but what good would that promise do? If it was going to be broken later, it would still be broken.

She’s not one of those naive girls in fairy tales; she doesn’t believe in so-called oaths of love.

However, she knew well that her heart had already started to stir.

What she lacked now was confidence in herself. If there weren’t so many beauties around Chen Nan, or if he weren’t so outstanding now, perhaps Chu Wenrou would have a bit more self-confidence.

But as it stands, she really couldn’t understand what Chen Nan saw in her.

In terms of looks, she wasn’t ugly but very plain. In terms of character, she had a worse temper than Jiang Xiaomi.

She used to just look for ways to pick on Chen Nan, but it was all just playful banter, trying to get back at him for losing in a car race. But when she calmed down and thought carefully, aside from being a bit of a flirt, he had been genuinely good to her lately, beyond words.

After finishing the meal, Chu Wenrou was unusually quiet, hardly speaking at all.

This was in stark contrast to her usual boisterous self, constantly looking for trouble with Chen Nan.

Chen Nan asked, ”Is it not good? Why aren’t you happy at all?”

Chu Wenrou shook her head quickly, ”No, it’s quite good.”

”Then why aren’t you talking?” The hateful wench muttered.

Cheng Bingbing giggled and gave Chen Nan a knowing look, saying, ”Haven’t you heard the song lyric, ’Don’t try to guess a girl’s heart, you won’t figure it out.’ She’s got a crush now.”

Chen Nan grabbed Chu Wenrou’s hand, ”What does she mean by that? Do you have someone you like?”

”No.”

Chu Wenrou shook her head in denial, staring at Chen Nan, then after a moment asked, ”Can you tell me, what is it exactly that you like about me?”
