School Beauty's Personal Crazy Young Master

Chapter 833: Chapter 911: The Old Man’s Mission

Shi’er has disappeared!

Upon hearing this news, Chen Nan immediately became anxious and hurriedly rushed over to open the door, asking, ”What exactly happened?”

”I don’t know either. I just got up and found an envelope on the desk in the hall. When I went to take a look, I found it’s left by Shi’er for you. I sensed something was wrong, so I went to her room to check, but there was no one there, so I came to find you,” Su Qingqing said.

Could it still be because of my rejection?

But wasn’t it agreed upon last night?

Chen Nan pondered and quickly asked, ”Where’s the letter she left? What does it say?”

”The letter is written for you, I didn’t read it.” Su Qingqing pointed towards the hall and said, ”It’s still on the desk!”

Chen Nan ran into the hall and picked up the envelope. On it were four large characters—Chen Nan Qing Qi.

Although Shi’er has lived for hundreds of years, she hasn’t read many books, and she doesn’t know many characters either. These four words on the envelope are written in curved strokes, much like a primary school student’s handwriting, and in traditional characters rather than the simplified characters used today.

Chen Nan opened the envelope:

”Brother, by the time you see this letter, I have already left. I don’t want to make it difficult for you, but I really can’t let go of this emotion. To me, you are my only hope in this world. Without you, I would have scattered my soul into nothingness five hundred years ago. Fate is truly strange; five hundred years ago, it couldn’t make you fall in love with me, and unexpectedly, even five hundred years later, I can only be your sworn sister. Perhaps this is what people call having fate but not destiny. I need time to fade this emotion away. Rest assured, we will meet again when I’ve completely let go of this feeling, I’ll come back to find you. Also, thank Yixuan and the others for taking care of me during this time, take care!”

This is the content of Shi’er’s letter.

The strokes of these characters are bending, with loose radicals, and even more than a dozen words are written incorrectly, but from the character shapes, Chen Nan can basically guess what they are.

”Silly girl.”

Chen Nan sighed, folded the letter, and stored it in the Storage Ring.

Su Qingqing asked, ”Did the letter say where she’s going?”

”No, she said she wants to take a walk and will come back to find us later.” Chen Nan said.

Su Qingqing scratched her head, puzzled, and said, ”But why would she want to leave when everything was fine? Everyone likes her, no one bullied her, why did she leave?”

After hesitating for a while, Chen Nan took out the letter and handed it to Su Qingqing: ”See for yourself.”

Su Qingqing took the letter, looked at it, and immediately opened her mouth wide in surprise, staring at Chen Nan dumbfoundedly: ”You... you, she likes you! Also, what does this five hundred years mean? I don’t understand at all.”

”Actually, Shi’er is a fox spirit and has lived for five hundred years.”

Chen Nan explained briefly, seeing Su Qingqing still looking puzzled, then recounted the events from five hundred years ago.

Su Qingqing looked incredulous: ”Isn’t it said that fox spirits are all lewd and unscrupulous? But Shi’er is so pure, how could she be a fox spirit!”

Chen Nan tapped her head and said, ”Human nature varies with good and evil, and fox spirits naturally have various types too. The world thinks fox spirits are lewd and unscrupulous purely because of Su Daji in the Investiture of the Gods, which has led to misunderstandings about fox spirits.”

Su Qingqing scratched her head: ”That seems reasonable, but it’s really hard to imagine she is five hundred years old.”

”Oh oh oh... What’s so rare about being five hundred years old? Chicken Lord is six hundred years old.” A strange cry came as the Black Feathered Chicken flew down from upstairs where it was secluded for Cultivation.

Su Qingqing nodded: ”You’re right, even weak feathered creatures can live for over six hundred years; foxes are much smarter than chickens, so living five hundred years is completely normal. But, aren’t foxes supposed to love eating chickens? Little Black Chicken, why didn’t Shi’er eat you?”

”Cluck cluck cluck... cluck cluck cluck...”

The Black Feathered Chicken repeatedly crowed, hopping mad, its feathers standing upright, flapping its wings wildly, darting around the hall continuously.

After venting, it pointed its wings at Su Qingqing indignantly: ”The little girl dares to look down on your Chicken Lord; your Chicken Lord is smart and undefeated, the world’s most handsome, obviously much superior to you foolish humans!”

”No matter how superior, it’s still just a weak feathered creature.” Su Qingqing muttered.

The Black Feathered Chicken got utterly riled up, kept crowing to vent its anger, and eventually flew towards the door: ”Chicken Lord is noble and virtuous, not bothered with you juniors, it would be beneath my dignity.”

Seeing it flying toward the door, Chen Nan asked, ”Where are you going, dead chicken?”

”To the countryside to find hens, for Chicken’s sake, it’s been six hundred years without a hen touch, driving Chicken Lord mad.” With that, the Black Feathered Chicken transformed into a dark streak and darted out of the hall.

Chen Nan was speechless.

Su Qingqing was even more speechless; this dead chicken surely speaks whatever it pleases.

At this moment, Huo Xinya and Liu Tiantian also came out, ready to go to school: ”Early in the morning, what were you guys yelling about?”

”It’s nothing, Shi’er left.” Chen Nan said.

On hearing this, Liu Tiantian immediately looked despondent, asking, ”Where did she go? Who’ll play Angry Birds with me from now on...”

Chen Nan was silent for a while, casually made up a lie, saying Shi’er went out for business and would return later.

As for Shi’er being a fox spirit, Chen Nan wasn’t going to casually disclose it. After all, Liu Tiantian was quite foolish, and her mouth wasn’t as tight as Su Qingqing’s. If she accidentally let it slip out, it might cause unnecessary trouble down the line.

...

After breakfast, Chen Nan intended to ask Xuan Tianji about the task he mentioned last night, but the old man unceremoniously rejected his call.

Out of frustration, Chen Nan didn’t bother with him and went to school with the three beauties.

After morning study, the old man called, and imitating him, Chen Nan simply hung up.

Before long, the old man called again, and Chen Nan continued to reject the call.

This time, the old man got anxious and kept calling continuously. After rejecting several calls in succession, Chen Nan finally answered slowly, his tone rather impatient: ”What’s up, grandpa? I’m busy here!”

Xuan Tianji cursed: ”Busy my foot, you little brat, dare not answer my call! Believe it or not, I’ll slap you dead!”

Chen Nan dismissed the threat: ”I don’t really believe that...”

However, just as he finished speaking—

”Slap...”

A solid hit landed on Chen Nan’s left cheek. He glanced around but saw nothing, yet when he turned back again, another ”slap” sound came, landing on his right cheek, stinging fiercely.

Chen Nan angrily shouted: ”Old geezer, where are you?”

”Swear one more time and see if I won’t beat you to death!” The old man threatened.

Chen Nan immediately settled down.

He couldn’t help but submit; the old man’s cultivation was terrifyingly powerful. Annoyed, he asked: ”What’s the task exactly?”

”An unearthed national treasure was stolen by international thieves, I need you to take people and retrieve it,” Xuan Tianji said.
