The Rebirth of the Fierce Little Cute Girl

Chapter 524: Chapter 523: Drink Till We Drop

Seeing Huang Yanquan ask about the time, Ding Yuejun smiled and said, ”How about tomorrow? Come to our place for a meal then.”

”Sure.”

Huang Yanquan naturally agreed with pleasure.

On one side, Ding Yuejun was inviting Huang Yanquan to dinner, while on the other side, Gu Tingyu was inviting Yiyi to dinner that evening.

”Is Jinming planning to treat us to dinner again?”

Hearing Gu Tingyu’s invitation, Yiyi was still a bit surprised. The last time Jinming treated them to dinner, it was to announce his engagement to Ye Jia Ren. She didn’t know the reason this time, but she nodded in agreement, ”Okay, we’ll be there on time then.”

When the two arrived at the Shangjing Restaurant, Jinming was already standing outside. Seeing them approach, he smiled slightly and invited them in to sit.

While a few of them were talking, Wei Zixiao also arrived.

”Tingyu, sister-in-law, you’re already here.”

Wei Zixiao didn’t know about Yiyi’s kidnapping until after Gu Tingyu and the others had returned. Because of this, he was extremely disgusted with Ye Jia Ren.

No wonder the first time he saw Ye Jia Ren, he felt he couldn’t get close to her. As expected, that woman had ulterior motives.

But now that Jinming was having a hard enough time, he didn’t say much else, just patted his friend’s shoulder and said, ”Let’s go in and eat, I’m starving. Knowing you’re treating me to dinner, I hardly had any lunch.”

Hearing this, Jinming couldn’t help but smile.

Seeing his friend’s smile, Wei Zixiao only felt a bit melancholy.

Jinming used to be a gentle and elegant person. Although he didn’t talk much, his whole being radiated a gentle glow like beautiful jade. But now, even though he still had a smile on his face, he seemed cold and distant, like icy cold jade, making people reluctant to approach.

Just as Wei Zixiao was about to say something, Jinming spoke up with a smile.

”I’ve already ordered a few dishes. You can order some more, and today let’s enjoy a good meal together.”

Hearing this, Wei Zixiao swallowed the words at the tip of his tongue and, together with Gu Tingyu, ordered a few more dishes. Afterward, the group sat down for dinner, but this time, Jinming even ordered alcohol.

”It’s rare to get together for a meal, let’s have a drink together later.”

Seeing the liquor Jinming ordered, Wei Zixiao was surprised, ”Jinming, we usually don’t drink when eating together, why did you order alcohol this time? Won’t you get drunk later?”

”Even if you get drunk, I won’t. Although I don’t drink often, my tolerance is much better than yours.”

Hearing this, Wei Zixiao remembered that his tolerance was indeed not as good as Jinming’s. Thinking about it, he no longer made such a fuss and cheerfully stood up to pour drinks for others, ”Alright, this time we won’t stop until we’re drunk... except for sister-in-law, she can’t drink, or Tingyu will get on my case.”

Yiyi laughed at this and said, ”Right, I definitely won’t drink. Otherwise, if you all get drunk, who will take you home?”

Gu Tingyu looked at Yiyi and said, ”Don’t worry, I definitely won’t get drunk. I’ll make sure to get everyone home safely later.”

”Alright, Tingyu, we know your tolerance is good. Come on, let’s have a toast first.”

Jinming was the first to raise his glass.

Gu Tingyu and Yiyi, along with Wei Zixiao, naturally raised their glasses as well. The group drank a glass first, then started eating.

As the dishes continued to be served, Wei Zixiao couldn’t help but say, ”Jinming, you’ve ordered way too much. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have ordered more just now.”

”It’s okay, having a good time together means ordering more. We can enjoy the meal even more this way.”

Gu Tingyu looked thoughtfully at Jinming and felt his friend was somewhat off today, ”Jinming, is there a reason you invited us to dinner today?”

Jinming put down his glass, organized his thoughts, and said, ”Actually, today’s meal can be considered my farewell dinner. I’ll be heading to the West tomorrow.”

”What...”

Hearing this, Wei Zixiao stood up immediately, ”You’re going to the West? What are you doing there?”

Gu Tingyu furrowed his brows upon hearing this, looked at Jinming with full disapproval, and said, ”Is it because of the Ye Jia Ren issue that you’re planning to escape to the West? What are you going to do there?”

”This is something I’ve thought deeply about recently. I’ve already discussed it with my family. They need staffing in the West, and when I get there, I’ll actually get promoted, so you all should be congratulating me.”

Being quick-tempered, Wei Zixiao blurted out, ”Jinming, you’ve never thought about leaving Shangjing before. How come all of a sudden you’re going to the West? You say it’s not because of Ye Jia Ren, but I think it’s exactly because of this matter that you’ve made such a decision.”

Hearing this, Jinming fell silent, then finally said, ”I admit that it’s partly due to that, but the biggest reason is that I myself want to go to the West. Actually, I’ve always had this idea, but I’ve never acted on it. This time, I finally have the opportunity, so I’ve chosen to go.”

”You’re lying. If you had this idea before, why didn’t we know about it?”

Hearing Wei Zixiao’s words, Jinming couldn’t help but laugh, and this time, there was a trace of warmth in his eyes, ”Zixiao, I’m telling the truth, you just don’t believe me.”

”Of course I don’t believe you. Don’t think you can fool me.”

Meanwhile, Gu Tingyu looked at Jinming seriously and asked, ”Are you serious?”

”Yes, I’m serious, as serious as can be. The orders have already been issued.”

Hearing this, Gu Tingyu couldn’t help but sigh, ”Since you’ve decided, I’ll definitely support you. I’ll see you off tomorrow.”

”Tingyu, aren’t you going to try and stop him?”

Hearing this from Gu Tingyu, Wei Zixiao couldn’t help but say something.

”Zixiao, this is Jinming’s choice, and we should support him. Besides, it’s too late to say anything now.”

Hearing this, Wei Zixiao sat down somewhat dejectedly.

”Yeah, it’s too late now to say anything. Jinming’s leaving tomorrow.” Saying that, he raised his glass, looked at Jinming, and said, ”You’re sneaky, making this decision and telling us later. You’re in for it tonight. Come on, let’s down this drink first.”

Of course, Jinming drank with Wei Zixiao.

Seeing the two like this, Gu Tingyu couldn’t help but sigh. He knew Zixiao couldn’t bear for Jinming to leave, and in truth, he was also reluctant to part with his friend. But this was Jinming’s own life and his own choice, and they shouldn’t interfere too much. Besides, maybe going to the West would allow Jinming to gradually move on.

By the end, Jinming and Wei Zixiao were both completely drunk.

Seeing his two drunk friends, Gu Tingyu shook his head with a smile. In the end, he and Yiyi took them each back to their respective homes.
