Pokémon: My Parallel World Daughters Revealed

Chapter 276: Those Who Enter the Quaxmen Are Destined for Greatness! (Membership Extra Chapter)

The video continued playing.

Viola pulled a temperature-controlled incubator from her backpack and carefully placed it on the table.

”I’ve been carrying this Egg around for several weeks now. It could hatch any day.”

Her fingers gently brushed across the incubator’s glass dome.

”But the Pokémon Center here in Hearthome has been really busy lately, and I’ve been wondering what I should do with it.”

”Please! Could you help me take care of this Egg for a little while? I’ll pay you!”

Hina nodded.

Then she gently placed one hand against the glass dome.

A soft emerald-green glow slowly spilled from her palm.

”Its...”

”Its heartbeat is very healthy.”

Hina spoke softly.

”There shouldn’t be any problems.”

Viola and Alexa blinked at the exact same time.

”You can hear an Egg’s heartbeat?!”

”I’m not... hearing it...”

Hina pulled her fingers away from the Egg and pointed toward herself.

”It’s more like... I can sense it with a special ability.”

Viola elbowed Alexa, lowering her voice without managing to hide even the slightest bit of excitement.

”Sis, I think we just met someone incredible.”

Alexa’s professional instincts immediately kicked in.

She cleared her throat and tried her best to make her voice sound calm.

”Ahem. Miss, may I ask your name?”

”And what’s the name of your family’s Day Care?”

”I’m Hina...”

”And our Day Care is called Dawsher House...”

”Dawsher House?!”

Alexa and Viola exclaimed simultaneously.

Hina flinched at the sudden increase in volume and shrank half an inch behind Quaxwell.

”...You’ve heard of it?”

”Of course we have!”

Viola’s eyes lit up.

”The owner of Dawsher House ranked first on Trainer Weekly’s annual list of most influential Trainers!”

Alexa had already pulled a notebook and pen from her bag.

”Um... would you mind if I did a quick interview?”

”I’d really like to know what someone that incredible usually does at home.”

”What Dad usually does at home...”

Hina tilted her head and thought seriously.

Then she answered honestly.

”Most of the time...”

”He drinks tea, sleeps, and goes on dates with Mom.”

[VIP Chat Group]

[Steven]: Hahahahahaha! ”The three most important things in life—spending time with your wife, drinking tea, and sleeping!” Brother Asher! That’s basically a perfect description of you, isn’t it?! Is that really what you’re like at home?!

[Asher]: Don’t even mention it. Ever since Tiana came, my yard has been in trouble every few days. Recently, several large craters have appeared in the backyard, and I need to find time to fix them.

[Tiana]: Dad! How could you dump the blame on me?! You’re the one who told me to go catch fish in the backyard! (#`皿′)

[Asher]: So you do remember I told you to catch fish! Then who told you to ride Garchomp over there?! You started blasting the lake without any rules at all! The entire thing is covered in craters now!

[Tiana]: Hey, I was just trying to save time! (*?▽?)?

[Asher]: Save time? You fired Hyper Beam directly into the lake and blasted fish everywhere! You call that saving time?!

[Tiana]: W-Well... at least the fish were already cooked! Garchomp and I spent half an hour picking them all up!

[Cynthia]: ...Tiana. You caused the mess, so you clean it up yourself. Understood?

[Tiana]:(Can’t hear you.) (Can’t hear you.)

[Cynthia]: ...Hubby, lend me the fly swatter.

[Tiana]: Wait, wait, wait! Mom! I’ll go fill the holes right now! Hoopa! Open a ring! Take me to the backyard! (Time-stop escape!)

[Elesa]: Did Tiana just use time stop to run away? I swear I saw her in the backyard a second ago, and now she’s completely gone.

[Cynthia]: Running won’t help her. I’ve already told Garchomp to wait for her at Grandma’s research institute.

[Diantha]: Now that’s a mother’s wisdom. Cynthia is getting more experienced by the day.

The video continued playing.

Over the next few days, Hina performed regular health checks on the Egg every day, while Viola came by whenever she had time to check on its condition.

One morning—

Viola pushed open the incubation-room door.

The first thing she saw was Quaxwell doing squats while holding the Egg.

Its webbed feet were planted firmly against the floor.

The Egg was carefully supported against its chest with both wings, rising and falling in perfect rhythm with every squat.

Viola nearly dropped her camera.

”...Master Ducky, what are you doing?”

Without even turning around, Quaxwell freed one wing and wrote something on the nearby whiteboard.

LIFE LIES IN MOVEMENT. EDUCATION BEGINS IN THE EMBRYO. THIS HUMBLE DUCK IS WILLING TO PAVE THE WAY FOR THE NEXT GENERATION.

Viola felt a crack form in the worldview she’d spent more than twenty years building.

”Hina...”

”Is Master Ducky always... like this?”

Hina looked up and thought seriously.

”Ducky likes exercising in the sunlight...”

”And getting an appropriate amount of sunlight is good for a baby’s physical and mental development...”

”So I think what Ducky is doing is okay.”

Just then—

Quaxwell finished the final set of high-knee exercises.

It came to an abrupt stop, planted both feet firmly against the floor, and gently patted the incubator’s glass with one wing.

The gesture looked almost as though it were saying—

Good work today, brother.

Then—

The Egg cracked.

A hair-thin fracture spread from the top of the shell.

Pale-blue light seeped through the opening.

”It’s hatching.”

Hina hurried over to the incubator.

She held both hands above the Egg without touching it.

Emerald-green light from the Power of Viridian flowed from her palms and seeped through the shell.

A small opening appeared at the top.

A light-blue antenna slowly poked through.

Surskit.

Its enormous eyes blinked.

The first thing it saw was Hina.

Those golden eyes were looking at it gently, while the warmth of the Power of Viridian continuously flowed from her palms.

”Sur-sur~”

Then Surskit turned its head.

And saw Quaxwell.

The light reflected off Quaxwell’s sunglasses, hiding its eyes completely.

All Surskit could see was Quaxwell standing there with both wings folded across its chest, looking down at the tiny Pokémon that had just crawled out of its Egg.

Surskit wobbled toward Quaxwell.

Then it stretched out one antenna and touched Quaxwell’s webbed foot.

”Sur-sur~ Sur-sur~”

Viola frantically snapped photos while asking Hina,

”What’s it saying?”

Thanks to the Power of Viridian, Hina could understand Surskit perfectly.

Her cheeks turned faintly pink.

”It’s calling Ducky...”

”’Dad’...”

Quaxwell reached down and gently patted Surskit’s head.

Then it turned toward Viola and wrote another sentence on the whiteboard.

THIS CHILD POSSESSES EXTRAORDINARY TALENT. MAY IT TRAIN UNDER THIS HUMBLE DUCK?

Viola stared silently at the message for a moment.

Then she turned toward Hina.

”Hina...”

”Why don’t you take care of this Surskit?”

Hina blinked.

”Huh?”

”But... this is your Egg, Miss Viola...”

”My sister and I are planning to cross Mount Coronet next. It might not be very convenient for us to care for it.”

Viola scratched her cheek, sounding a little embarrassed.

”And besides—”

She pointed toward Surskit, which was currently trying to climb up Quaxwell’s leg.

”It seems to like you.”

”And it really likes Master Ducky.”

Surskit had both antennae wrapped around Quaxwell’s leg and was continuously making happy little noises.

”Sur-sur~”

”...Okay.”

Hina took an empty Poké Ball from her waist and held it toward Surskit with both hands.

”Surskit...”

”Would you like to come with me?”

Surskit released Quaxwell’s leg.

Its four tiny legs moved at incredible speed as it rushed over—

And headbutted the Poké Ball’s button all by itself.

Red light flashed.

Click.

Capture successful.

Quaxwell pushed up its sunglasses.

Then it wrote one final line on the whiteboard.

MY DISCIPLE HAS ENTERED THE QUAXMEN. GREATNESS AWAITS IT IN THIS LIFE.
