Zenless Zone Zero: The Almighty Incubus of Sixth Street

Seth felt that the woman beside Wise seemed somewhat familiar, and the atmosphere around them felt a little off.

”Wait, I looked at the group draw, and Agent Gulliver’s opponent in the group stage is... Eous?!”

Zhu Yuan’s tone was slightly surprised.

Wise nodded, while Astra confidently declared, ”Eous will win this match!”

”Miss Yao? From what you’re saying, could it be that you and Wise...?” Zhu Yuan asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

”That’s right, we’re together... participating in the competition. We’re a team of male and female... partners! I designed the accessories Eous uses for the competition ~”

Astra intentionally drew out her words several times. Despite how easily they could be misunderstood, the three girls in front of her remained unfazed.

’Could it be that it wasn’t what I was thinking?’ she wondered, a little confused.

”...Your face... I feel like I’ve seen you somewhere before.”

Miyabi suddenly spoke, resting a hand on her chin.

”Miss Hoshimi knows me too? What an honor! My name is Astra Yao.”

”My name is Hoshimi Miyabi. It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

It was a very plain self-introduction, and the terrible scene Wise had imagined never happened. Instead, he let out a quiet sigh of relief.

”It seems I don’t need to introduce you. I hope everyone gets along well,” Wise said with a smile.

”Hmm, but I didn’t expect to meet PubSec Officer Zhu Yuan and Qingyi here! Thank you for your help with Eve’s situation previously.”

Astra hadn’t expected Wise, a Proxy, to be friends with Public Security Officers.

”It’s part of our duty. However, I also didn’t expect you, Miss Yao, to team up with Wise for this competition. His connections and abilities are always so surprising...”

Qingyi said this while glancing at Wise. There was no deeper meaning behind her words, only the unspoken understanding that came from their long-standing familiarity.

”If Eous’s competition attire was designed by you, Miss Yao, then this upcoming match will likely be a fierce battle...” Zhu Yuan’s expression was somewhat complicated.

It wasn’t difficult to sense that Astra’s attitude toward Wise was more than just friendly, but it wasn’t appropriate to say anything at the moment.

”I think our Agent is captivating. An Agent does not pale in comparison to any other Bangboo on the battlefield,” Miyabi declared, her sharp gaze falling on Eous.

”Treating the stage as a battlefield? If it came down to a real fight, Eous might not win, but in this regard, he definitely won’t lose,” Wise said confidently.

After all, Eous was a Bangboo trained by him. Wise believed that even if it had only learned the basics, it would be enough to carry it all the way to victory.

”Very good. Let’s have a decisive battle.”

Miyabi didn’t stand on ceremony with Wise, speaking with a strong fighting spirit. Astra beside her was equally spirited.

”I agree with Miss Hoshimi. The stage is the battlefield... Eous, let’s have a decisive battle with your opponent!”

”...”

Hearing Astra’s words, Miyabi looked at her with some surprise.

”Miss Yao, would you like to spar with me?”

”Huh...? Me? I... I’m afraid I don’t have that ability...”

Although, as a big star, she wasn’t entirely without martial prowess, combat wasn’t her strong suit.

And sparring with a Void Hunter...

Please don’t be ridiculous.

”Is that so? Just now, I seemed to see in your eyes the gaze of someone at the pinnacle of martial arts... Was I mistaken...?”

”I’d be very happy to sing for you! But fighting and all that...” Astra faltered.

”So it’s singing... Thank you. I’ll remember that. I’ll look forward to your singing.”

Miyabi and Astra got along surprisingly well. There was no scene of a fiancée and a rumored girlfriend clashing.

As the match was about to begin, both sides briefly separated. Once they arrived at the pre-match waiting area, Astra eagerly spoke.

”Why are you on such good terms with Public Security and HSOS 6? Even a Void Hunter...! Aren’t you... that?”

”Because it’s not the usual ’that,’” Wise replied.

”Pfft... That sounds a bit cute. By the way, do they know your identity?” Astra asked with some concern.

Still, she felt it was unlikely. After all, the profession of Proxy was on Public Security’s wanted list.

”Yes, some of them know. We’ve been through a lot together, and they’re people I trust just as much as I trust you, Astra.”

Since she had asked, rather than lying now and having to cover it up with more lies later, it was better to tell her the truth directly.

”They actually know? That’s surprising, but suddenly I feel less special.”

”How could that be? Of course you’re special.”

”Eh? You think so, Wise?”

Although Astra said that, she didn’t actually mean that she was disappointed. After all, it was normal for a Proxy to have informants who knew his identity.

”That’s natural.”

Wise wasn’t lying to her. Every girl was special.

Astra was very happy, even struggling to hide the smile at the corners of her mouth.

The subsequent match went as expected, with their side emerging victorious. Soon afterward, they arrived at the post-match player lounge.

”Enn-nhe... (I lost...)”

”We lost.”

Agent Gulliver’s ears drooped. In contrast, Miyabi appeared completely calm, seemingly indifferent to winning or losing.

”I told you~ This is Eous’s game~”

Astra was already in a good mood, and now that she had won the match, she expressed her joy without restraint. Perhaps there was even a little bit of showing off in it.

”We just got lucky,” Wise said.

”Correct. It seems Agent Gulliver needs more training in luck.”

”...And how do you train for something like that?” Zhu Yuan asked with a sigh.

Yet compared to the celebration banquet she would have to face after winning, the current result actually made Zhu Yuan feel relieved.

”Hmm, Miss Miyabi, you seem rather unbothered by the defeat. Oh, sorry. Is it okay to call you that?”

”It’s okay, Miss Astra.”

Miyabi was always indifferent to such matters. Besides, the other party was Wise’s friend, so she was one of their own.

However, her attitude surprised Astra. Her adorable, slightly dazed appearance instantly hit Astra’s soft spot.

”...Miss Miyabi is so lovely! I can see why her fans love her! But I’m still a little curious... I was wondering if you’d invite me to spar again. You seemed really eager to win before the competition started.”

Astra spoke happily before continuing.

”I really want to win too! So, I think... I understand that blazing confidence in your eyes. You really believed you would win.”

”You are right. One who doesn’t believe in their own victory will never triumph for long. But if you can’t accept losing, your confidence in winning will become nothing more than blind faith. That will only lead to unending defeat.”

Miyabi spoke calmly, her expression remaining composed.

”I make myself see victory, but I accept defeat. So, can you leave your name in this?”

As she spoke, Miyabi suddenly pulled out a small notebook and handed it to Astra, who stared at it in surprise.

”Wh-What?”

”I’m collecting the signatures of those who have defeated me. It’s part of my training. You won this time, so I hope you can leave your name in this.”
