Chapter 6331: Apology and Compensation

It was from Zhao Daobin.

Chu Feng was taken aback. He instinctively glanced at Zhao Daobin, only to see the latter still chatting merrily with Little Fishy’s grandfather. But there should be no outsiders here, so who is Zhao Daobin guarding against?

“Elder, can you tell me the reason?” Chu Feng anxiously asked via voice transmission while keeping a composed exterior.

“Young friend Chu Feng, allow me to return the favor I owe you for saving me from the God Clan. I’m not in a position to say too much. Do as I say. I won’t do anything detrimental to you,” Zhao Daobin replied.

“What’s going on, Chu Feng? Does Eighth Zhao intend to harm you? Or is Zhao Daobin up to something?” Eggy also heard the voice transmission and asked.

“It’s all possible,” Chu Feng replied.

At the same time, he called out to the Divine Deer, “Elder.”

The Divine Deer immediately replied, “Don’t worry, the Zhao Immortal Clan won’t be able to harm you under my watch.”

Chu Feng’s heart was put at ease.

The Divine Deer could independently judge how dangerous the situation was and activate its power. That was how it saved him, Zhao Daobin, and the others from Shen Bai back then.

“Zhuyin, it’s about time. Don’t forget what you have to do,” Eighth Zhao suddenly said.

“Got it,” Zhao Zhuyin replied before walking up to Chu Feng.

“Here, let’s have a toast. I’ll have to leave after this.” Zhao Zhuyin’s face was flushed from all the alcohol she had drunk. While cultivators didn’t get drunk on alcohol, it emboldened them.

“Cheers.” Chu Feng raised his wine cup and downed its contents.

Zhao Zhuyin gulped down her alcohol before revealing a satisfied smile. She turned to Eighth Zhao and said, “Father, take care of my friend.”

“Don’t worry, he’s my friend too,” Eighth Zhao smiled.

Zhao Zhuyin took her leave under the elders’ escort.

Eighth Zhao waved his sleeves, and the other elders left as well, leaving just Zhao Daobin and Chu Feng’s group in the room.

Eighth Zhao stood up and walked up to Zhao Daobin.

Pah! Pah!

He struck Zhao Daobin’s shoulders twice before saying, “Our Zhao Immortal Clan’s enforcement elder sure is a loyal friend. Is it because young friend Chu Feng saved you from the God Clan?”

Most people had no idea what was going on, but Chu Feng’s heart clenched up. It was now clear to him that the person Zhao Daobin was guarded against was Eighth Zhao.

Despite communicating via voice transmission, Eighth Zhao still overheard their conversation.

Zhao Daobin unhesitatingly turned around and kneeled before Eighth Zhao. But instead of begging to be spared, he said, “Lord Clan Chief, young friend Chu Feng is a good person, and I owe him a favor. I beseech you to spare young friend Chu Feng and the others on my account.”

Little Fishy’s parents and grandfather realized what was going on and shot to their feet. They quickly grabbed Little Fishy and the others before pulling Chu Feng and Qin Xuan behind them. They looked warily at Eighth Zhao as they asked, “Zhao Immortal Clan’s Clan Chief, what are you planning?”

“Haa~” Eighth Zhao sighed.

Boom!

He suddenly released a brilliant golden light—it was his bloodline power. Everyone in the room sensed his cultivation rising from rank four to rank five Heavenly God level.

“Immortal Sea Fish Clan’s Clan Chief, don’t bother using your life force ignition means. It’s futile even if you deplete the entirety of your life force,” Eighth Zhao said.

He was forcing everyone to submit to him by sheer force!

“Elder, I don’t understand what’s going on,” Chu Feng suddenly interjected.

“As expected of young friend Chu Feng. I see fluster on the Immortal Sea Fish Clan’s Clan Chief’s face, yet you are perfectly composed,” Eighth Zhao teased.

But Chu Feng was in no mood to joke around. “Elder Zhao, may I ask a question? Have I made a misjudgment?”

Eighth Zhao lowered his shame. “Young friend Chu Feng, you have stumped me right there. I was planning to tell you the truth. The Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain was opened by our Zhao Immortal Clan; our ancestors bought this place at a hefty price in the Ancient Era.

“I activated it now for Zhuyin’s sake. As you can see, Zhuyin is decently talented. She is a step away from attaining the highest talent ever in our Zhao Immortal Clan. The Fortuitous Bloodline Mountain is her greatest opportunity.”

Chu Feng asked, “Those who have grasped the formation energy will be of use to her?”

“That’s right. The first step is the activation of the formations on the mountain peak, and the second step is grasping the formations’ energies. There’s still a third step—enlightenment. We constructed that formation around Zhuyin’s peak to boost her intelligence.

“There are two phases to enlightenment. The first phase is to grasp the formation energy, which you have already succeeded at. But Zhuyin can achieve the second phase with the help of our treasures and formation, and the second phase allows her to obtain your formations’ energies,” Eighth Zhao explained.

“So, we are just puppets. Elder, you were worried that I would fail to grasp the formation not because you didn’t want me to miss this fortuitous encounter, but that you didn’t want to lose me as a puppet,” Chu Feng replied.

“Haa, this concerns not just Zhuyin’s but our Zhao Immortal Clan’s future. I have no choice,” Eighth Zhao said as he supported the kneeling Zhao Daobin back to his feet.

He brought out a massive stash of natural oddities and treasures with a wave of his sleeves, then, with a clench of his fist, all the items flew into a Cosmos Sack.

“Young friend Chu Feng, we won’t let your effort be in vain. This is our compensation to you.” Eighth Zhao handed the Cosmos Sack to Chu Feng.

“What if I refuse to help?” Chu Feng tossed the Cosmos Sack back.

Eighth Zhao sighed. He slowly made his way up to Chu Feng. What he did next astounded everyone, including Zhao Daobin. He kneeled before Chu Feng.

“Young friend Chu Feng, I earnestly admire you, and I don’t want to lose you as a friend. I know what I have done today betrays your trust, but I have no choice but to do this for Zhuyin’s sake. Allow me to apologize to you,” Eighth Zhao said.
