Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 928: Chapter 928: I suggest you check us first!

”Lin Yu, come take a look at this.” After reading the message he received, Shen Peishen casually passed the brief about Bai Xiaosheng to Lin Yu by his side.

Lin Yu curiously took it over and quickly scanned through, immediately expressing surprise, ”How can he be so reckless?”

”Hehe, I’m afraid that’s the first thought of many people in the Affairs Department!”

Shen Peishen sipped his hot tea with a smile and said calmly, ”This is something that neither you nor anyone else could achieve.”

”You all progressed step by step, through difficulties and obstacles, crossing a single-log bridge to reach the position you are in today.”

”You memorize all the rules, abide by all the standards, and at the very least, you don’t dare to overstep outwardly. Even the most lively and unconventional Lin Ke probably couldn’t help but think, ’If I do this, is it against the rules, or might it give someone a hold over me?’”

Shen Peishen reflected, ”But Bai Xiaosheng is different. His promotion skipped many steps, coinciding with Elder Xia’s intention for reform. He is an exceptional case, and he has been awarded a special position—a New-type Affairs Officer!”

”Thus, he is free from all the usual constraints. He’s a complete outlier!” Shen Peishen said.

Lin Yu nodded.

”What do you think Bai Xiaosheng is intending to do?” asked Shen Peishen.

After pondering for a moment, Lin Yu said, ”To say this guy is merely putting on a show of power, I don’t believe it! He’s a very rational person!”

”In this manner, his apparent arrogance seems a bit like alarming the snake by hitting the grass—those small enterprises in Yunhai, even if they turn out to be dragons, are nothing but insects right now! But there are too many of these insects, a dozen or so, and if there were an investigation into any one of them, the news would spread quickly, and it’s likely there would be fish that slip through the net.”

”Rather than that, it’s better to openly set up an investigative stance. Everyone has to cooperate. Those with a guilty conscience will inevitably take risks to cover up. This act is what’s fatal; any adjustment to accounts or reports will be noted, making it easier to trace back to the source. With his capabilities, it’s almost a certainty,” Lin Yu said.

Shen Peishen laughed and couldn’t help but shake his head.

”What, Teacher, am I wrong?” Lin Yu asked, puzzled.

”Your way of thinking, when considering issues, is still confined to your own set of rules. Using your own standards to judge everything is not right,” Shen Peishen said. ”Suppose Bai Xiaosheng doesn’t actually want to investigate. Or perhaps, investigating those enterprises is not his main goal!”

Lin Yu was taken aback.

He wasn’t a fool; by considering from a different angle, he suddenly said in surprise, ”Could it be that he really is just putting on a show of power? No, he’s establishing his authority!”

”To make himself the center of public attention again!”

”To be precise, to make his identity as a New-type Affairs Officer the center of attention!”

”He’s establishing the ’awe and fear’ associated with this position!”

”I’ve looked into the authorities granted to a New-type Affairs Officer. They can oversee Affairs Officers of the same level, and some powers are even on par with a Senior Affairs Officer. I guess Mr. Xiahou Qi isn’t satisfied with the current state of the Affairs Department and wants this New-type Affairs Officer to become a disruptor!”

”And that’s exactly what Bai Xiaosheng is doing, constantly becoming an ideal point of explosion.”

Somewhat conjecturally, Lin Yu was more startled and choked up, unable to speak.

”Is he acting on his own, or is Mr. Xiahou Qi’s instructing him?” Lin Yu couldn’t help but ask, startled.

”Not sure!” Shen Peishen shook his head, thoughtfully sipping his tea, ”However, you’ve crossed paths with Bai Xiaosheng. Does Elder Xia need to teach him step by step, hand in hand? But if he has decided this himself... he could indeed be a handy person to have!”

Longing flashed in Shen Peishen’s eyes.

While they were discussing all this, Xiahou Qi was also holding his phone, laughing while video chatting with someone.

The one sending the video was, of course, Lin Ke.

”That kid just loves to court trouble. Well then, it’s been a long time since things have been this ’lively.’” In the end, Xiahou Qi just smiled and said one sentence—

”Not a bad thing!”

After the video ended, Lin Ke made a special trip to tell Bai Xiaosheng, ”Elder Xia seems quite satisfied!”

Bai Xiaosheng listened, just laughed, and then raised his phone.

”I won’t be able to join you for dinner tonight. Han Chengren called, his daddy invited me to dinner, just the two of us!”

Lin Ke curled his lips, ”Just two big guys on a date alone, and with the old man, how dull!”

Bai Xiaosheng shrugged his shoulders and then smiled, ”I can guess what Elder Han wants to talk to me about, believe it or not? Want to bet?”

”Ha, only the two of you will be present at that dinner. No matter how you guess, in the end, only you and he will know the answer. Where can I verify it?” Lin Ke waved his hand, ”Just talk to me about it later, I’m in a hurry to go get a facial, I don’t have time to chat with you.”

With that, Lin Ke hurried off, conveniently taking Lin Weiwei with her.

Anyway, Bai Xiaosheng’s attendance to the banquet didn’t require a female companion.

Lei Ying also took leave, saying he wanted to buy some local products to send back to his hometown.

Bai Xiaosheng’s solo attendance at the banquet truly became a solitary affair.

When the dinner time arrived, Han Chengren came to pick him up, and seeing him all by himself, he was stunned for a long while.

Affairs Officer Bai really lived up to his reputation, true to his word, a solo guest to the banquet indeed...

Yunhai, a private restaurant.

In a quiet and elegant private room, Bai Xiaosheng met with Han Dong.

Both were surprised.

Han Dong marveled at the contrast between Bai Xiaosheng’s age and status, while Bai Xiaosheng was astonished that such an old man could be as robust as a young chap.

In this private room, there were only Han Dong and Bai Xiaosheng.

Han Chengren, Han Chengyi, and Han Minghao were all waiting outside. With the door shut, it was very private inside.

”Mr. Bai, come, try the authentic cuisine of Yunhai. The stuff outside, those are just the popular dishes. Here it’s different, here is where the century-old legacy lies!” Han Dong was extremely enthusiastic, pouring drinks and arranging dishes.

”You flatter me, Elder Sir!” Bai Xiaosheng replied with equal enthusiasm.

The two chatted while they ate, discussing some interesting topics, and the atmosphere quickly heated up.

When the waiter brought in dishes, occasionally opening the door, Han Chengren, Han Chengyi, and Han Minghao could hear laughter from inside.

The three looked at each other and all gave a thumbs-up, muttering just one word— ”Impressed!”

After three rounds of drinks, and a variety of dishes.

Bai Xiaosheng put down his cup with a smile, ”Old Mr. Han, shouldn’t we talk about something more serious now?”

Han Dong smiled too and put down his cup.

”This time, inviting Mr. Bai over, I want to lay all my cards on the table!”

”Oh?” Bai Xiaosheng smiled, ”Please, go on!”

”My Han Family Enterprise has had long-term cooperation with Yunyu Industrial, was it under the instruction of my son and me? Yes!”

”Has my Han Family Enterprise benefited beyond acceptable limits? No! It’s mutually beneficial!”

”Has Han Chengren been engaged in private profiteering in Yunyu Industrial? No! Because there’s no need!”

Han Dong was very serious, telling Bai Xiaosheng, ”From today, if you want to inspect all the accounts and documents between our two parties, just say the word, and there will not be a minute’s delay!”

”I strongly recommend that you start with us! Start with Yunyu Industrial and my family’s enterprise, inspect in any way you see fit!”

”You command, I’ll supervise! The Han family will fully cooperate to prove our innocence!”
