Inheritance of Two Trillion

Chapter 607: Chapter 607 The Sneaky Contract_1

Mu Changlin came today to urge Ron and his team to sign the lease termination agreement, inform them of the moving timeline, and hasten their relocation to free up the space. He harbored no thoughts of deepening cooperation with them.

When Ron mentioned wanting to buy the place and claimed to have the means to do so, Mu Changlin was initially surprised.

But upon learning that Ron and his team were only interested in the office area they occupied and were not considering any other building or floor of the project, and that they murmured about changing leases and needing to move, Mu Changlin’s mood soured.

Mu Changlin was immediately displeased.

Such a waste of time!

These foreigners were particularly stubborn, once they had set their minds on something, they wouldn’t listen to ”advice.” Mu Changlin had realized this when he initially leased the office area to them.

Seeing that they would not become clients after all, he was no longer courteous!

There arose another dispute over the timeframe for moving out.

Mu Changlin came prepared for this very issue.

”Mr. Mu, your approach violates the spirit of the contract! How can you give us such short notice?” Ron said angrily after hearing from Miranda.

”Mr. Ron, you can eat whatever you want, but you can’t talk nonsense. When it comes to the reputation of our company, I can sue you for defamation,” Mu Changlin replied lazily.

Miranda, her face turning green with anger, translated for Ron and without waiting for his response, burst out confronting.

”We haven’t sued you yet, on what grounds can you sue us? It’s you who violated the lease agreement we originally signed! According to the agreement, we should receive a notice one month in advance!” Miranda said furiously, ”You only gave us one week’s notice—that’s a breach of contract!”

Then, she translated for Ron.

Ron nodded, as this was what he wanted to say too.

”Yes, Mr. Mu, you’re the one breaching the contract! We could take this to court!” Ron asserted strongly.

After hearing the translation, Mu Changlin scoffed and looked at Miranda and then at Ron. ”Where’s that agreement of yours?”

Having brought the original lease agreement for the negotiation, Miranda immediately opened it and found the relevant clause to show Mu Changlin, ”Right here, Mr. Mu, surely you can’t claim to not recognize the characters!”

The clause explicitly stated, ”In the event the lessor terminates the lease for any reason, notice shall be provided one month in advance.”

This line was the last on the page, written in black and white, clearly visible.

Mu Changlin glanced at it briefly and said with a half-smile, ”Turn it over, read the first sentence to me.”

Miranda frowned, puzzled, glanced at Ron, and did as asked.

The first sentence on the next page read, ”The contents have been confirmed as correct by both parties.”

What’s this about? Mira wondered, explaining it to Ron.

”Miss Miranda, you speak very well,” Mu Changlin laughed, ”I wonder if you’ve noticed any punctuation marks after that last line on the previous page. Those lines, they’re part of the same sentence.”

Upon hearing this, Miranda was taken aback, checking back and forth, and her complexion changed as she read it several times in silence.

Together, it read, ”In the event the lessor terminates the lease for any reason, notice shall be provided one month in advance—the contents have been confirmed as correct by both parties.”

Between the words ”contents,” there was a half-space break, which made it seem separate.

Thus, it read as a notice within ”one month”—”confirmed as correct by both parties” sufficed as notice.

”Within one month” doesn’t necessarily mean one month—a week would do too!

Miranda was shocked.

Seeing Miranda’s changing expression, Ron pressed for an explanation. As she murmured her translation, Ron’s face also darkened.

The precision of a contract allows no room for error, not even a punctuation mark!

Based on the original agreement, the other party was indeed in compliance with the law.

”A week isn’t short, Mr. Ron, you should consider your options sooner rather than later. Actually, if you decide to buy, choosing us is a pretty good option,” Mu Changlin said, smiling persuasively.

Ron was silent, then suddenly spoke.

Miranda looked at him in disbelief, and translated his words to Mu Changlin, astonished.

”Mr. Mu, are the contracts you sign with everyone like this? If that’s the case, surely someone must have noticed by now, or are you saying you only do this with us or a select few! Tianxuan International is a big company, and we don’t believe they would change a contract for a little profit. And from the beginning, you personally dealt with us, and it was you who brought the contract!”

As Miranda relayed Ron’s words, her beautiful eyes shifted from confusion to sudden realization, filled with anger, ”So can we assume that these changes were made by you in private and that your group isn’t aware? What will you do if I report this matter to your group?”

Ron, who works with big data, couldn’t be a fool. With a bit of back and forth, he quickly came to this cunning conclusion.

Mu Changlin’s smile faded, he crossed his arms and looked at Ron and his associate with a smirk.

’’Mr. Ron, that’s an interesting hypothesis,” Mu Changlin nodded, ”Do you think it’s possible for a group’s marketing vice president to secretly lease part of the property to clients, making a bit of money without the head office knowing? How would one operate in such a situation? Could this marketing vice president explain to the group that it was you who added this clause to further lower the rent?”

”What do you guys think?” Mu Changlin asked with a chuckle, turning to his two subordinates.

The two looked at Ron and Miranda, letting out a light laugh, their expression carrying a hint of mocking derision.

Ron and Miranda exchanged a glance and sighed silently to themselves.

Regardless of any trickery, no matter how many such agreements there were, it was impossible for Mu Changlin to profit alone.

And his confidence indicated he had strong backing.

Tianyuan International Group’s headquarters were not in Linshen, and there was no channel for making such a report.

Even if they did want to push the matter, they had no way to do so.

Moreover, if things really came to a head, would it be worth it to tear up relations...

”Let’s do this, I’ll extend your deadline to two weeks and refund the rent for those two weeks as compensation, that way everyone is happy, isn’t that a win-win?” Mu Changlin said, laughing heartily.

It was their only option.

Ron and Miranda looked at each other, their eyes agreeing.

”Please sign this lease termination agreement then,” Mu Changlin said with a smile.

This time, Ron didn’t say anything; he took the agreement, quickly signed his name, and pushed it back.

”There you go, that’s better. Everyone’s happy,” Mu Changlin exclaimed laughingly, taking the document, glancing at it, and nodding.

”Alright, I won’t bother you any longer, I’ll take my leave,” Mu Changlin said, standing up and extending his hand.

Ron composed himself, expressionless as he stood up and shook hands, ”No need to see me out!”

Mu Changlin, unfazed by Ron’s attitude, left quickly with a smile, along with his two subordinates.

He still had to meet with a real big client, to sign a larger contract as soon as possible.

Ron sat down in silence, with Miranda looking at him.

”Should we report this issue to our boss?” Miranda couldn’t help asking.

Their current office address had already been publicized, and many financiers were scheduled to visit soon. A sudden switch would be highly disruptive; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been so desperate to stay.

Miranda’s implication was clear: if Bai Xiaosheng could raise some funds, added to their own, they could buy the place!

Ron shook his head.

”I get your point, but Miranda, our boss isn’t a money-printing machine. I don’t want to burden him with this issue. I’ll think of a way to handle all the troubles,” Ron said.

At that moment, his phone rang. Ron glanced at it.

”They’re here!” Ron said earnestly to Miranda, ”Remember, don’t bother him with this!”
