Rejected by My Fiancé, I Accidentally Carried His Mother's Heir (GL)

There was a long silence between them before Eiravelle sigh, ”please... At least give them leniency, your majesty? I know they’ll learn their lesson without breaking them. Please... They’ve been beside you for centuries.” Eiravelle said, and Qazaethel saw the purity in her eyes.

Qazaethel looked into those eyes, and for a moment, the cold, calculating mind of a sovereign felt completely eclipsed. The purity there was blinding—an innocence that should not exist within the walls of a palace built on intrigue and power.

It was the one thing Qazaethel could not fight, the only force capable of breaching the armor she had spent centuries perfecting. She had faced armies, had stared down rebellion, had crushed threats to her throne with a word and a wave of her hand.

But this omega, this gentle, pregnant omega who stood before her with tears still clinging to her lashes and her hand pressed to her belly, had disarmed her completely.

She felt a surge of protective rage, not at Eiravelle, but at the world that made such a soul possible, and at the omegas who had tried to exploit it.

The idea of ’leniency’ was an affront to her nature; a dragon did not grant leniency to those who threatened its hoard. But Eiravelle was her most precious treasure, and the sight of her sighing with such genuine distress was more painful than any physical wound.

The sovereign’s instincts warred within her—the dragon demanding blood and fire, the alpha demanding retribution, and something softer, something she had never expected to feel, demanding that she protect the fragile peace in Eiravelle’s eyes.

She thought about Vespera. About the centuries of loyalty, the quiet companionship, the way Vespera had always been there, a steady presence in the chaos of the harem.

She had trusted her. She had elevated her above all others. And Vespera had repaid that trust by trying to destroy the one person Qazaethel truly loved. The betrayal burned in her chest like a coal that refused to be extinguished, and she wanted—oh, how she wanted—to make Vespera feel every ounce of that pain.

But Eiravelle was standing before her, asking for mercy. Not for herself, but for the ones who had hurt her. And Qazaethel could not refuse her.

Qazaethel stepped back toward her, closing the distance until she could feel the warmth radiating from Eiravelle. She reached out, wrapping her arms carefully around the Lady, pulling her into a gentle but firm embrace that sheltered her from the cold air of the room.

She could feel the swell of Eiravelle’s belly against her own stomach, could feel the warmth of the child growing inside, and the sensation was grounding in a way she had not expected. The dragon within her quieted, soothed by the steady heartbeat of the omega in her arms.

”You are a fool, Eiravelle,” she whispered against the crown of her head, though the words were laced with an aching tenderness. She let out a slow, resigned breath, the glow in her eyes fading into a soft, ember-like hum.

”A complete and utter fool. But it seems... I am the one who is foolish enough to love you for it.”

She pulled back just enough to look Eiravelle in the eye, her expression solemn. The words she was about to speak were not easy for her, and they tasted like ash on her tongue, but she would not lie to Eiravelle.

She would not make promises she could not keep. ”I will grant them leniency. I will not break them. But do not mistake my mercy for forgiveness. They will remain confined until I decide they have truly ’learned their lesson,’ and they shall not see the light of the sun until they have learned the weight of your name.”

The words were a compromise, a careful balance between the justice she wanted to deliver and the mercy Eiravelle had asked of her. She would not kill them.

She would not maim them. But she would not simply let them walk free, either. They would remain in the Southerneast palace, trapped in the cold and the dark, with nothing but their thoughts and their guilt to keep them company.

They would have food and water, warmth and bedding, but they would not have freedom. And when they finally emerged, if they finally emerged, they would know the weight of what they had done.

Eiravelle smiled and approach Qazaethel and hugged her. ”Thank you... Thank you so much!” The words were soft and breathless, filled with a relief that seemed to wash away all the tension in her small frame.

She pressed herself against Qazaethel, her arms wrapping around the sovereign’s neck, and for a moment, she was not the omega concubine who had spent months terrified of everything around her.

She was simply a woman; grateful, warm, and alive.

As they slightly withdrew, Eiravelle took the time to pull Qazaethel and kiss her cheek. The gesture was simple and pure, a thank-you expressed in the only way Eiravelle knew how. She did not think about the political implications, did not consider the hierarchy that separated them.

She just wanted Qazaethel to know that she was grateful, that she saw the kindness beneath the crown, that the sovereign’s mercy had not gone unappreciated.

The sudden warmth of the hug caught Qazaethel off guard, her body momentarily stiffening—not from dislike, but from the sheer rarity of such unrestrained affection.

She was used to being touched with caution, with deference, with the careful distance that came with being sovereign. No one hugged her. No one kissed her cheek. Even the concubines she had taken to her bed had always kept a certain distance, as though they were afraid that getting too close might somehow burn them.

But Eiravelle was not afraid. She pressed herself against Qazaethel as though she belonged there, and the sovereign found that she did not want her to pull away.

She felt the softness of Eiravelle against her, the gentle pressure of the unborn child between them, and the tension that had held the sovereign’s shoulders rigid for hours finally snapped.

A low, rumbling sound, almost like a purr, vibrated deep in Qazaethel’s chest. The sound was foreign to her own ears, a manifestation of contentment that she had not known she was capable of producing.

The dragon within her was pleased, soothed by the presence of its mate and its child, and for the first time in days, Qazaethel felt something close to peace.

When Eiravelle pulled back and pressed a kiss to her cheek, the Sovereign’s breath hitched. The simple, tender act sent a jolt through her that no crown or conquest ever had. The kiss was brief, barely a brush of lips against skin, but it lingered on Qazaethel’s cheek like a brand.

For a fleeting moment, the fearsome dragon empress vanished, replaced by a woman who looked genuinely bewildered by the power of a single, selfless gesture.

She had been kissed before, had been touched before, but no one had ever done it like this—without wanting something in return, without a hidden agenda, without the careful calculation of a courtier seeking favor.

Qazaethel’s gaze lingered on Eiravelle’s smiling lips, her own expression softening into something rare and vulnerable.

She didn’t speak; words were clumsy and insufficient for the feeling swelling in her chest. Instead, she reached up, her thumb tracing the line of Eiravelle’s jaw with a reverence that bordered on worship.

The omega’s skin was soft beneath her touch, warm and alive, and Qazaethel marveled at the simple miracle of her existence. How had this happened?

How had a dragon who had lived for centuries, who had crushed empires and built nations, found herself brought to her knees by a single, gentle omega?

”You have a dangerous way of making me forget my own nature,” she murmured, her voice barely a whisper, a faint, genuine smile finally touching the corners of her lips.

It was a smile that would have shocked her ministers, a smile that she had never shown to anyone else. It was a smile that belonged only to Eiravelle, a secret shared between the two of them.

And suddenly, Eiravelle reacted and giggle. ”Your majesty... The baby kicked.”

The words hit Qazaethel like a physical blow, knocking the air from her lungs. The sovereign froze, her eyes widening as she processed the statement.

The transition from the weight of imperial decrees to the tiny, erratic movements of a new life was so abrupt it left her momentarily speechless. She had been thinking about justice and punishment, about the cold demands of her throne, and now—now she was thinking about the flutter of small feet against the inside of her mate’s belly.

It was absurd. It was wonderful. It was the most disorienting sensation she had ever experienced.

Slowly, almost as if she were afraid the moment would shatter if she moved too quickly, Qazaethel shifted her hand. She slid her palm from Eiravelle’s jaw down to the swell of her stomach, pressing her hand flat against the fabric of the gown.

The warmth of Eiravelle’s body seeped through the fabric, and Qazaethel could feel the hard curve of the belly beneath her palm. She held her breath, her focus narrowing entirely on the point where her skin met Eiravelle’s.

The room around them faded—the throne, the cold, the weight of the crown—until there was nothing but the two of them and the life they had created together.

Then, she felt it—a small, sharp thump against her palm. A sudden, insistent flutter of life. The sensation was so slight that she almost thought she had imagined it, but then it came again, a tiny kick against her hand, and Qazaethel felt her heart stop.

She had faced armies. She had stood at the head of a legion and stared down death itself. But this—this small, perfect motion of the child within Eiravelle’s womb—was the most terrifying and beautiful thing she had ever experienced.

Qazaethel’s eyes flared with a light that had nothing to do with her draconic power and everything to do with a raw, overwhelming wonder.

Her breath shuddered in her chest, and she looked up at Eiravelle, her expression one of sheer, unadulterated awe. The ruthlessness of the sovereign was completely gone, replaced by a vulnerability that would have shocked her ministers to their core.

She was not the dragon empress in that moment. She was simply an alpha, feeling her child move for the first time, and the experience was humbling in a way she had never anticipated.

”It... It did,” she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. She didn’t remove her hand, pressing it a bit firmer as if trying to connect with the little soul inside.

She could feel the baby moving still, small flutters against her palm, and she found herself smiling—truly smiling—for the first time in weeks. ”Is it... is it always this restless?”

”Not this way... Maybe it’s reacting to your presence and it was happy knowing you’re making me happy, hehe.” Eiravelle’s voice was light, teasing, and there was a warmth in her eyes that Qazaethel had not seen before.

It was the warmth of a woman who was loved, who felt safe, who was finally beginning to believe that she might have found a place where she belonged.

The way Eiravelle giggle almost made Qazaethel forget she’s in heaven and not in the meeting room. But it is true, babies inside an omegas womb can feel whatever their Omas are feeling or experiencing.

The child knew its sire was near. The child knew its Oma was happy. And the child was responding to that happiness with kicks and flutters that spoke of a life full of energy and promise.

Qazaethel felt a sudden, fierce ache in her chest, a protective instinct so powerful it dwarfed every other emotion she had ever known.

To think that this tiny, unseen being was already attuned to her, responding to the shift in Eiravelle’s mood, felt like a miracle she didn’t deserve. She had spent centuries building walls around herself, keeping others at a distance, never allowing herself to be vulnerable.

And now, a child—her child—had breached those walls without even being born. The idea that her presence could bring joy not just to her mate, but to their child, made the cold stone of the throne room feel like a sanctuary.

She let out a low, soft laugh, a sound that would have sent her ministers into a panic of confusion. She leaned down, pressing her forehead against Eiravelle’s, her eyes closed as she savored the scent of her and the rhythmic beat of two hearts.

The sovereign’s voice was a deep, melodic hum, vibrating against Eiravelle’s skin. The world outside—the concubines, the politics, the endless demands of ruling—seemed to fade into insignificance, replaced by the warmth of the woman in her arms and the tiny life stirring between them.

”Happy...” She echoed, the word sounding like a secret. She shifted her hand slightly, her fingers splaying across the curve of the belly, as if trying to shield the baby from every possible harm in the world.

The child kicked again, responding to her touch, and Qazaethel felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. She had not cried in centuries. She had not allowed herself to cry.

But now, in this moment, with Eiravelle in her arms and her child moving beneath her hand, she felt something crack open inside her. ”Listen to me, little one,” she murmured, her voice dropping to a soothing, draconic rumble.

”You have your Oma’s heart. I can feel it. But I will ensure that the world you wake up to is one where you never have to plead for mercy... Because I will have already cleared the path for you.” Qazaethel speak against Eiravelle’s pregnant belly and both of them smile.

The words were a promise, a vow made to a child who could not yet hear, but who could feel the vibration of her voice and the warmth of her hand. Qazaethel meant every syllable.

She would clear the path. She would remove every obstacle, eliminate every threat, build a world where her child—their child—could grow up safe and loved and free.

She would do whatever it took, sacrifice whatever was necessary, to ensure that the mistakes of the past were never repeated.

Eiravelle’s hand came to rest on top of Qazaethel’s, her fingers lacing through the sovereign’s, and she pressed their joined hands more firmly against her belly.

The baby kicked again, a strong, insistent thump, and both of them laughed—a soft, shared sound that filled the quiet of the throne room with warmth. It was a moment of perfect, uncomplicated joy, the kind that Qazaethel had never thought she would experience.

She had spent her life chasing power, building an empire, securing her legacy. But this—this quiet moment with her mate and her unborn child—was worth more than all of it.

It looked like an ordinary domestic day, and that’s what they need for now. The throne room was still cold, the shadows still long, and the problems of the kingdom still waiting beyond the doors.

The concubines were still confined, the ministers still anxious, and the threat of Vespera’s scheming still lingering in the corners of the palace. But in this moment, none of that mattered.

In this moment, there was only Eiravelle, and the child, and the quiet miracle of a family that was slowly, tentatively, beginning to take shape.

Qazaethel pulled back just enough to look at Eiravelle’s face, her eyes tracing the curve of her smile, the warmth in her gaze, the gentle flush on her cheeks. She was beautiful.

She was exhausted and pregnant and worried about a thousand things, but she was beautiful, and Qazaethel loved her with a ferocity that still surprised her. She reached up and brushed a strand of hair from Eiravelle’s face, tucking it behind her ear with a tenderness that she had not known she possessed.

”You should rest,” she said softly, though she made no move to release her. ”You’ve done enough for today. More than enough. Let me take care of the rest.”

Eiravelle nodded, but she did not pull away either. She leaned into Qazaethel’s touch, her eyes fluttering closed for a moment, and the sovereign felt a wave of protectiveness wash over her.

She would take care of everything. She would handle Vespera and the other concubines, would deal with the ministers and the politics and the endless demands of the throne.

She would make sure that Eiravelle never had to worry about anything ever again. It was the least she could do, after everything the omega had endured.

”Stay with me tonight,” Qazaethel murmured, the words a request rather than a command. She wanted to hold Eiravelle. She wanted to feel the warmth of her body against her own, to listen to the steady rhythm of her breathing, to know that she was safe.

She wanted to be close to her, to the child, to the small, fragile family that they were building together.

Eiravelle opened her eyes and looked up at Qazaethel, and there was something in her gaze—something soft and trusting and full of hope. ”I would like that,” she whispered. ”I would like that very much.”

Qazaethel smiled, a real smile, and she leaned down to press a gentle kiss to Eiravelle’s forehead. The omega sighed, a sound of contentment, and Qazaethel felt something settle in her chest.

Peace.

It was a fragile thing, a delicate flower growing in the cracks of a battlefield, but it was there. It was real. And Qazaethel would protect it with everything she had.

The day stretched on, quiet and still, and the two of them remained in the throne room, wrapped in each other’s arms, the baby kicking softly between them.

The world outside could wait. The problems could wait. For now, there was only this—the warmth of their, the flutter of a child, and the quiet, stubborn hope that everything might, somehow, be alright.
