Rejected by My Fiancé, I Accidentally Carried His Mother's Heir (GL)

The dust of the borderlands clung to Qazaethel’s cloak as she reined her horse to a stop, the beast’s breath coming in heavy, steaming clouds that vanished into the cold air.

Behind her, she heard Arielle dismount with the fluid grace that marked all elvenkind, boots touching the parched earth with barely a sound.

Further back, the clanking of plate armor announced General Liv’s presence, the veteran warrior’s hand never straying far from the hilt of her sword.

Qazaethel’s gaze swept across the horizon, taking in the shimmering distortion that marked the boundary between Solkanaia and Varnara.

The magical border pulsed with a sickly violet light, a warning to any who would cross without invitation. She had seen this barrier countless times over the centuries, yet today it felt different—heavier, somehow, as if the realm itself sensed the urgency that drove them here.

”Stay alert,” Liv said, her voice was low and gravelly from years of shouting orders across battlefields. ”These borders have never been safe, and silence here means nothing. I’ve walked away from too many ambushes to trust quietness means peace.”

Qazaethel nodded, appreciating the general’s caution. Liv had served Solkanaia for thousands of years, and her instincts had saved the realm more times than any chronicle recorded. If she sensed danger, it was because danger existed.

Arielle stepped forward, her usually composed face was tight with worry that had nothing to do with the demons they might face. ”Every moment we waste is another moment Eiravelle suffers.”

”I know,” Qazaethel replied, keeping her voice steady despite the same fear that gnawed at her. ”But rushing blindly into Varnara will help no one. Least of all Eiravelle.”

She swung her leg over her mount and dropped to the ground, feeling the ancient magic of the borderlands tingling against her skin.

Arielle followed suit, her hand rested on the pommel of her sword—that legendary elven blade forged in the fires of Arthion, sharp enough to cut moonlight itself.

Liv remained mounted for a moment longer, her eyes are scanning the rocky outcroppings and twisted trees that lined the approach, searching for any sign of movement in the shadows.

When the general finally dismounted, the three of them stood together at the threshold of enemy territory. Qazaethel drew a breath, tasting the acrid magic that separated the divine realm from the demon lands, and stepped forward.

The sensation of crossing the border was like walking through cobwebs made of lightning—unpleasant, invasive, and charged with latent power.

For a heartbeat, the world seemed to stretch and distort around her, colors bleeding into one another, and sounds warping into discordant echoes. Then clarity returned, and she found herself standing on demon soil.

The spear points were already waiting.

”Hold!” The command rang out from a demon guard whose armor bore the insignia of Cerpys’s house—a serpent coiled around a bleeding heart. He stepped forward, his crimson eyes narrowed as he recognized the intruders.

Six more guards emerged from the watch posts flanking the border, their weapons were leveled and their movements was practiced and efficient. ”Signal the Demon Lordess! The sovereign of Solkanaia comes uninvited!”

One of the younger demons broke formation and sprinted toward a twisted tower in the distance, a horn already rising to his lips. The blast that followed was harsh and discordant, a sound that carried across the bleak landscape of Varnara like a scream.

Qazaethel remained still, her expression was carefully neutral despite the weapons trained on her heart. She had faced armies before, had stared down beings of greater power than these border guards, yet she knew that pride served no purpose here. Not when time was her true enemy.

”What do you want, sovereign of Solkanaia?” The lead guard’s voice dripped with hostility, his grip on his spear tightened until his knuckles turned pale against his gray skin. ”Have you come to beg for mercy before our armies descend upon your precious realm?”

Qazaethel did not flinch. She had known this reception was likely—Cerpys had never made her borders welcoming to divine royalty. ”I am here to speak to Cerpys.”

The guard’s laugh was harsh and barking, devoid of humor. ”Hah! You do not speak our Lordess’s name, divine whore! You will address her as the Demon Lordess, or you will address her as your superior!”

The insult rolled off Qazaethel’s back, but she felt Arielle tense beside her, the elf’s fingers twitching toward her blade. Liv’s armor creaked as she shifted her weight, ready to intervene if the situation turned violent.

Qazaethel considered her options with the cold calculation of a ruler who had survived a thousand years of politics and war. She could unleash her power now—could call upon the divine authority granted to her by the celestial courts and declare war upon Varnara with a word.

The magic stirred within her, eager to be unleashed, a tempest held behind the dam of her will.

But war took time. War took days, weeks, months of blood and siege and negotiation. And Eiravelle did not have days. The Night Dazzling poison was already working through her system, and every hour that passed brought her closer to a death that no healing magic could reverse.

”We will wait,” Qazaethel said quietly, the words tasting like ash in her mouth.

The guard sneered but held his position, spears are still raised and eyes are still suspicious. They would wait, it seemed, for their mistress to decide the fate of these trespassers.

The Varnara demon Palace rose from the corrupted earth like a thorn embedded in the world’s flesh, its spires twisted into impossible geometries that hurt mortal eyes to behold.

Within the throne room, shadows moved with a life of their own, clinging to the obsidian walls and pooling in corners where no light should have been able to reach.

Cerpys lounged upon her throne, her appearance are belying the millennia she had walked into the world. She looked no older than a mortal woman in her prime, her skin was pale as alabaster and her hair a cascade of midnight black that fell to her waist.

Only her eyes betrayed her true age—pupils slit like a serpent’s, filled with the accumulated cruelty of centuries spent ruling one of the most feared domains in the demon realm.

She had been contemplating the execution of a minor lord who had failed to deliver his tithe of souls when the messenger arrived, breathless and trembling.

”Your Majesty.” The messenger dropped to his knees, his forehead pressing against the cold stone floor. ”The sovereign of Solkanaia is here.”

Cerpys’s expression remained neutral, though her interest stirred like a sleeping beast. Qazaethel. Her ancient enemy, her rival across centuries of skirmishes and diplomatic feints.

They had fought wars against each other, had negotiated treaties that neither intended to keep, had circled one another like predators sharing territory they both claimed.

”What does she need?” Cerpys asked, her voice was melodious and dangerous.

She gestured with one languid hand toward the line of slaves kneeling along the wall—omegas captured from border raids, kept for pleasure and service.

Her finger selected one, a young woman with trembling shoulders and hollow eyes, marked by the collar of servitude around her throat.

”Approach,” Cerpys commanded.

The omega shuffled forward, her movements were stiff with fear. She had been beautiful once, before the demon realm had drained that vitality away, leaving only a shell that moved at its mistress’s whim.

When she reached the throne, Cerpys reached out and seized her waist, pulling her roughly onto her lap.

”Speak,” Cerpys ordered the messenger, even as she smirked at the omega squirming against her. Her hands roamed freely, possessive and cruel, tracing paths that made the slave gasp and flinch. ”And make it worth my time.”

”The sovereign wished to have a word with you,” the messenger delivered, his eyes are carefully averted from the display before him. ”She did not state the nature of her business, but her urgency was apparent.”

Cerpys scoffed, her fingers found the omega’s breast and pinching hard enough to draw a whimper. ”Her? Urgent? The celestial cow moves with all the haste of glaciers forming.” She leaned down, capturing the slave’s nipple against her mouth, sucking hard while her serpentine gaze rose to watch the omega’s face contort in humiliated pain.

”Have you confirmed this is not a trap? Some pathetic divine scheme to breach our defenses?”

”The sovereign was accompanied by two others. Based on description, one appears to be General Liv of the Solkanaian army. The other...” The messenger hesitated. ”The other carries an elven blade and wears the colors of the Arthion family.”

Cerpys released the omega’s flesh with a wet sound, her attention was momentarily diverted. An Arthion elf? That was unexpected. The elven houses rarely involved themselves in divine-demon politics, preferring to remain in their forest sanctuaries. For one to come to Varnara meant something significant had occurred.

But significance could wait. Cerpys had appetites, and she had learned over her long existence that denying herself pleasure was a crime against her own supremacy.

”War conversations can wait,” she declared, dismissing the messenger with a wave. ”Let me enjoy ruining this omega first. The divine realm has waited centuries for my attention—it can wait a few minutes more.”

The omega let out a strangled cry as Cerpys’s hands became more demanding, pulling at her clothing until she was exposed to the cold air of the throne room. The demon Lordess’s touch was everywhere—rough, invasive, claiming ownership with every stroke.

The slave’s body was marked with old scars and fresh bruises, a canvas of suffering that Cerpys had been painting for weeks.

”Please,” the omega whispered, tears streaming down her face. ”My Lordess, it hurts—ngh—agh—no more—”

”Endure, little slave.” Cerpys’s voice was a purr, her breath was hot against the omega’s ear. She positioned the woman above her, gripping her hips with cruel strength. ”Only this way will you be spared from the true horrors of the demon realm. Consider this mercy.”

The scream that followed was cut short as Cerpys thrust upward, sheathing herself inside the omega’s tight passage with the brutal efficiency of one who took what they wanted without concern for the vessel they used.

The slave’s body went rigid, her back arching in agony, her hands scrabbling uselessly against Cerpys’s shoulders.

”Haah—please, no more—” the omega begged, her voice was breaking even more.

Cerpys only smiled, her hips beginning to move with steady, punishing movement. She was reaching for her peak, her eyes half-lidded with pleasure, when the throne room doors exploded inward with a crash that shook dust from the ceiling.

Arielle stood in the doorway, and she was death incarnate.

The elf’s imperial robes, once pristine white and gold, were soaked in demon blood that ran in thick green rivers down the fabric. It coated her face in splatters, dripped from her chin, matted her silver hair into crimson-tipped strands.

Her sword—blessed blade of Arthion, sharpest weapon in all the realms—hummed with arcane energy, its edge singing a song of slaughter as demon blood steamed upon it.

She had killed her way through the palace. The evidence was written in the gore that covered her, in the wild fury that burned in her blue eyes—eyes that now glowed with an inner light so intense they seemed lit from within by sapphire flames.

”CERPYS!” The scream tore from Arielle’s throat, carrying with it all the rage and terror of a woman who had watched her beloved succumb to poison.

Cerpys shoved the omega aside, the slave tumbling to the floor in a heap of naked, trembling limbs. The Demon Lordess reached for her own blade, a jagged thing of black metal that rested beside her throne, her serpentine eyes went wide with shock at the intrusion.

But she never saw Arielle move.

One moment the elf was in the doorway, the next she was upon the throne, her sword rising in a glittering arc that caught the sickly light of the chamber.

Cerpys had time to raise one hand in defense, to form the beginning of a magical shield, before the blade struck.

The sound was like a scythe cutting wheat. Cerpys’s arms—both of them, severed at the elbows—spun through the air in a spray of black blood, landing with wet thumps against the obsidian floor.

The Demon Lordess stared at the stumps where her limbs had been, her mouth opening in a scream that had not yet found her voice.

Arielle did not pause. She reversed her grip and drove the point of her sword into Cerpys’s chest, pinning the demon to her own throne with the force of the blow. The blade sank deep, sliding between ribs with the ease of a knife through water.

”Where is the potion?” Arielle’s voice was barely recognizable, stripped of its usual musical cadence, reduced to something harsh and desperate.

She leaned her weight on the sword, burying it deeper, watching Cerpys’s face contort with agony. ”The cure for Night Dazzling flower poison—where is it?”

”W-What...” Cerpys gasped, black blood was bubbling at her lips. ”What potion?”

”The one that cures Night Dazzling flower poison!” Arielle screamed the words again, her composure was shattered, and her hands shook where they gripped the sword. ”The antidote! Tell me where it is or I will carve the answer from your corpse!”

Understanding dawned in Cerpys’s dying eyes, followed by laughter—hysterical, bubbling laughter that sprayed black droplets across Arielle’s face.

”You mean... The flower of life?” The Demon Lordess’s voice was weakening, but her mockery remained strong. ”Hahahahaha... Foolish elf. You think I would keep such a treasure here? You think I would let it fall into divine hands?” She coughed, more blood was staining her pale chin.

”You won’t find it. No one will find it. ”

Something inside Arielle snapped.

It was a soundless thing, a fracture in the foundation of her being. The elf’s grip tightened on her sword, her glowing eyes narrowed to slits of murderous intent. She pulled the blade free in one smooth motion, ignoring Cerpys’s shriek of renewed agony, and swung.

The sword of Arthion did not meet resistance. Cerpys’s head was separated from her shoulders with a whisper of steel, her expression turned frozen in that final, mocking laugh as her skull bounced across the throne room floor and came to rest against the base of a pillar.

Silence fell like a shroud. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

Arielle stood over the corpse of the Demon Lordess, her chest was heaving, and her sword dripped with black blood that pooled around her boots. The glow in her eyes slowly faded, leaving them red-rimmed and hollow. She turned, slowly, and saw Qazaethel and Liv standing in the ruined doorway.

They had watched everything.

Neither spoke. Neither moved. In that moment, both the Sovereign and the General understood with perfect clarity that when Eiravelle’s life was threatened, Arielle of Arthion was not an ally to be reasoned with—she was a force of nature that would burn through anything in its path.

The elf who usually spoke in poetry and diplomacy had become something else entirely, something that had carved through a demon palace and executed a millennia-old tyrant without hesitation.

”We have to find the flower,” Arielle said, her voice was hollow but steady. She wiped her sword clean on Cerpys’s discarded cloak and sheathed it with hands that only trembled slightly. ”Dale can brew the potion if we bring him the ingredients. He knows the old recipes.”

She stepped away from the throne, her movements were mechanical, her mind was clearly racing ahead to the next task, the next obstacle, the next desperate hope.

And suddenly, a whimper drew her attention.

On the floor, tangled in discarded clothing and marked with bruises and worse, the omega slave huddled against the base of the throne.

She was naked, shivering, her eyes are wide with terror as she watched Arielle approach. She flinched when the elf’s shadow fell over her, pressing herself harder against the stone as if she could sink into it and disappear.

She expected death. That much was clear in every line of her body—the resignation, the acceptance of one who had learned that suffering only ended when life ended.

Arielle knelt. She set her sword on the ground beside her, the blade that had ended a Demon Lordess now was harmless and inert. With careful, gentle movements, she unclasped her blood-stained imperial cloak and draped it around the omega’s shoulders, covering her nakedness, offering warmth against the chill of the throne room.

”I’ll take you out of here,” Arielle said softly, the words carried a weight of promise that had nothing to do with obligation and everything to do with the compassion that had survived even her rage. ”No one will hurt you again. I swear it.”

The omega’s eyes welled with tears—real tears, not the forced moisture of pain, but the genuine release of someone who had not expected kindness.

She clutched the cloak around herself, her fingers are trembling as they gripped the fabric, and for the first time in what might have been years, she allowed herself to hope.

”You killed my aunt.”

The voice came from the shadows, cold and sharp as a blade drawn across stone. Every head turned toward the sound.

Standing in the doorway that Arielle had shattered stood a woman who could have been Cerpys’s shadow—pale where her aunt had been pale, dark where she had been dark, and sharing the same serpentine eyes and cruel beauty.

She wore armor of black enamel and silver filigree, and in her hand hung a sword that drank in the light around it.

Xelvyn. Cerpys’s niece. The cold heart of the northern demon territories.

She stepped into the throne room, her boots crunched on debris, her gaze turned to fixed on Arielle. The air seemed to freeze around her, and even the shadows ceased their dancing, as if the realm itself held its breath to see what would happen next.

The omega whimpered and pressed closer to Arielle’s side, Qazaethel’s hand moved to her own weapon and Liv shifted into a defensive stance.

And Arielle, exhausted and blood-soaked and running out of time to save the sister she loved, straightened her shoulders and met Xelvyn’s cold eyes with a defiance that had not yet burned out.

The throne room held its breath, waiting to see which side would move first.
