Chapter 3091: Ransacking The Cult

The prison still echoed with the groans of shattered seals and the rattling chains of the freed elders, but Lin Mu did not linger there long.

He knew they had struck at the heart of the cult, and yet, a decisive blow was not just the killing of its leader... it was the dismantling of everything the Drowned Crescent Cult had hoarded and hidden over the centuries.

”Take them outside,” Lin Mu ordered, his tone firm but calm as he gestured for Meng Bai and Daoist Chu to escort the frail elders away. ”They need air and time to recover.”

Their safety and survival of the utmost priority.

He then turned his burning gaze back to Lame Yu, who flinched as though the weight of a mountain pressed against his back.

”You said there are vaults,” Lin Mu said, voice low and unyielding. ”Show me.”

Lame Yu bowed until his head struck the ground again, leaving a faint smear of blood on the cracked stone. ”Y-yes, Master Lin... this way, please.”

The path to the vaults wound through another concealed passage.

Though the cultist led them, Lin Mu could already sense the heavy formations woven into the walls... concealments, alarms, protective arrays, and deadly triggers meant to kill intruders.

Though none of it mattered.

The moment he walked, the arrays flickered and sputtered, unable to contend with the oppressive sword intent he radiated. Another benefit of reaching the Sword Heart Stage. He could break arrays as long as they weren’t beyond a certain level with just his sword intent.

At last, they arrived at a great underground chamber. Four massive doors lined the walls, each engraved with crescent moon insignias. They were works of craftsmanship: reforged metals bound with runes, wards etched so deeply they seemed carved into the bones of the earth.

Lame Yu’s legs shook as he gestured toward the first. ”T-this one... I have the key...” He pressed his bloodied palm to the surface, and the runes dimmed reluctantly, the door groaning open just enough for a sliver of light to spill through.

Lin Mu did not wait. With one hand, he hooked into the edge of the door and tore it open with sheer force. The sound was like thunder ripping through the caverns.

Inside lay the first vault.

Mountains of immortal stones glimmered like frozen waterfalls, veins of precious metals ran across the chamber, and trays of immortal and spirit gems cast rainbow colors on the walls. Weapons and artifacts of lesser make lay piled in neat stacks, clearly offerings or supplies the cult had been gathering for decades.

Cattaleya whistled low, eyes sparkling like a fox catching sight of chickens. ”Well, well... look at this dragon’s nest. I could get used to these little adventures of yours, Lin Mu.”

Lin Mu merely swept his hand, storing the entire hoard into his ring. ”You can take your share later,” he said, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

She grinned cheekily and leaned her blade against her shoulder. ”Don’t forget my share.”

The second vault opened much the same way, though this time Lin Mu didn’t wait for Lame Yu’s fumbling. He stepped forward and simply ripped the door from its hinges. The cultist yelped at the casual destruction of what he knew to be a triple-warded immortal-grade gate.

The chamber beyond was stacked high with chests and sealed containers, each filled with treasures meant to sustain the cult. Immortal ores, rare forging materials, and delicately carved jade slips cataloging trade agreements or auction records. Silk banners embroidered with talismans were bundled carefully, and racks of refined beast bloodline Essence Crystals glowed faintly in neat rows.

Even Daoist Chu, usually stoic, couldn’t help but mutter in awe. ”This much wealth... even some mid-tier sects wouldn’t dare claim such reserves.”

Lin Mu didn’t hesitate, sweeping everything away into storage. He had no use for it now, but later—later, these resources could fuel himself, strengthen allies, or bargain for knowledge.

The third vault, however, bore a sharper scent.

The moment the door cracked open, the rich aroma of alchemical herbs, pills, and concoctions poured out like a tide. Shelves upon shelves were stacked with sealed jade bottles, vials glowing faintly with liquid essence, and jars brimming with preserved rare herbs that had been thought extinct.

Even Cattaleya’s eyes widened here, and she stepped forward, brushing her fingers lightly against one of the glowing orchids sealed in crystal. ”These... these are worth more than Immortal Stones or Essence Crystals... This is a Ghost Life Orchid!”

”The cult hoarded centuries of life and health.” She snorted. ”Shame they wasted it chasing their madness.”

Lin Mu nodded, but his eyes narrowed slightly. Pills of immortality, restorative elixirs, even soul-nourishing draughts... the cult had prepared well, perhaps for wars yet to come.

He stored everything, though he made note to examine these carefully later. Some pills were rare enough to be priceless, but others might hide poisons or sinister effects.

Finally, they approached the fourth vault: the smallest, but the one Lame Yu seemed most eager to reveal. His eyes darted nervously toward Lin Mu, as if hoping his obedience here would secure some sliver of mercy.

”This one... is the record vault, Master Lin,” he said quickly. ”It contains the history of the cult, our cultivation methods, techniques, even stolen manuals from other sects. It... it is everything we are.”

Lin Mu’s gaze sharpened.

Without a word, he reached forward and shattered the lock with a single strike. The door swung wide, revealing rows of shelves laden with scrolls, books, jade slips, and bound manuscripts. It was no mere collection... it was a library, carefully preserved and organized despite the cult’s twisted nature.

Cattaleya strolled inside first, whistling as she trailed her fingers along the spines of books. ”So this is the cult’s brain, hm? Their memories, their sins... their ambitions.”

Daoist Chu stepped forward reverently, picking up a dusty jade slip and brushing it clean. His brows furrowed. ”These aren’t just their techniques. Some of these are stolen... secret arts from other sects, forbidden scriptures, even techniques thought lost in the wars tens of millennia ago ago.”
