Chapter 3084: No Surrender!

A deafening pulse of energy burst outward, flooding the cavern. The wave swept through the crowd of cultists like wildfire, sinking into their bodies. One by one, their qi surged unnaturally, their veins bulging as their Dantians roared with borrowed might. The ground trembled beneath their feet as their auras flared violently.

Lin Mu’s group watched in grim silence as the transformation unfolded.

Cultists who had barely reached the first tribulation suddenly burned with the strength of the second. Second-stage tribulation experts erupted into the third. The changes rippled like a chain reaction, lifting each of them higher, forcing their cultivation into new realms with reckless force.

Screams filled the cavern—not of pain, but of ecstasy. The Drowned Crescent Cultists shook with newfound strength, some cackling with mad laughter, others roaring with primal fury. Their despair had been torn away and replaced with bloodthirsty vigor.

Meng Bai’s face darkened. ”Impossible... they just leapt entire stages?” His eyes darted from one mad-eyed cultist to another, watching their bodies swell with energy that wasn’t theirs. ”This... this isn’t natural.”

Daoist Chu’s expression hardened, his brows furrowed. ”They’ve force-fed themselves strength through that token. A dangerous method... one that burns the body as fuel. He’s turned them into weapons. They’re now Death Soldiers!”

Elyon clenched his fists, his jaw tight. He could feel the air growing heavier with each surge of unnatural power. His gaze flicked toward Lin Mu, and though he tried to keep steady, his words betrayed the heaviness in his chest. ”So much for it being easy...”

Lin Mu’s eyes never left the scarred man. His gaze was sharp, calculating. He could already sense the instability in the cultists’ auras, the frantic oscillation of qi tearing at their meridians. It was power that did not belong to them—power that came at a price.

But that didn’t mean they weren’t dangerous. In fact, desperation made them all the more lethal.

The scarred man grinned, his teeth catching the glow of the monolith’s faint light. ”Now... let us show these intruders what it means to face the Drowned Crescent Cult.”

The cultists erupted as one, their morale rekindled, their eyes burning with a madness that only borrowed strength could fuel. Their chants shook the city, a deafening war cry that bounced off the stone walls.

Meng Bai tightened his grip on his Spear, exhaling sharply. ”So much for surrender. Seems we’ll have to cut our way through after all.”

Cattaleya twirled her greatsword once, its rough and blunt edge singing as it cleaved the air. ”Good. I was getting bored of all the silence.”

Daoist Chu sighed, his robes stirring with qi as he prepared himself. ”Foolish indeed... but we’ll put an end to their madness.”

Elyon’s voice was quiet, but his tone betrayed unease. ”There was never going to be an easy way, was there?”

Lin Mu finally spoke, his voice calm amidst the rising chaos. ”No. There never was.”

He lifted his hand, and the air around him trembled with invisible pressure, the promise of his Dao gathering once more. The cultists, now burning with their false strength, roared as they prepared to charge.

And as the scarred man raised his token high, commanding his forces forward, the underground city shook with the beginning of a battle that would decide whether the Drowned Crescent Cult would live... or be erased forever.

The battle ignited with the ferocity of a thunderclap, the underground city turning into a stage of chaos and blinding brilliance as sword light, immortal skills, and waves of elemental force clashed against each other.

Lin Mu’s demand for surrender had been shattered the instant the scarred cult leader arrived, and now there was no retreat for either side. The Drowned Crescent Cult had chosen war, and war was what they would get.

The moment the crescent-shaped token flared to life, the air grew thick with pressure. Lin Mu had felt that kind of force before — forced empowerment, unnatural, reckless, the kind that burned the wick of life faster than a thousand battles.

’Similar to the Ephemera Sect... Did they borrow their power or is this their own version of it?’ Lin Mu wondered.

Every cultist quivered as the pulse struck them, their eyes glazing with bloodlust as their qi surged beyond its natural limits. Muscles bulged, veins writhed like serpents beneath their skin, and an unnatural heat rose off their bodies. They were no longer fighting like men or women, but beasts driven into the corner.

Daoist Chu was the first to respond.

With a flick of his sleeve, hundreds of talisman slips shot out, burning in midair with golden light. Each one unfurled into a rune that linked into the next, forming barriers and explosions that crackled through the ranks of the empowered cultists.

A cluster of Fourth Tribulation Stage immortals rushed at him, their blades glowing red with fire qi. But Daoist Chu stood unshaken, his voice booming like an elder judge:

”Seal the wicked! Suppress the vile!”

The runes detonated in waves, catching three of them mid-charge and turning their bodies into scorched husks.

Not far from him, Elyon moved like a phantom, his dark fur and sharp eyes gleaming under the torchlight of battle.

His mastery over the darkness element revealed itself in every step — sometimes he was gone, melted into shadow, only to reappear behind a cultist with his claws piercing through the man’s spine. The wolfkin was no less merciless than his prey. To the empowered cultists, it was like fighting something that was part nightmare, part predator, a hunter in the void.

Yet their surge of power made them reckless and violent. Two Fifth Tribulation Stage elders managed to surround Elyon, their spears weaving a net of fire and water qi. Elyon snarled, his fangs glinting, but he held firm.

”So be it,” he growled, letting the darkness bloom from his body. ”Pursuit of the Shadow Claws!”

The entire space dimmed, like a great maw had swallowed the light. From the veil, claws larger than a man lashed out, swatting the two elders back with enough force to crack their bones against the temple pillars.
