Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 2855: The Mui Clanʼs Horror

Inside the temple walls, the world felt different.

The chaos of the gates faded behind them as Lin Mu walked past the inner threshold, accompanied by a few silent monks. Despite what had just occurred, the atmosphere within remained serene—lotus ponds glistened under the afternoon sun, wind chimes echoed gently in the distance, and the scent of sandalwood lingered faintly in the air.

But Lin Muʼs heart was anything but still.

He glanced back once more at the closed gates, where crowds still whispered in hushed awe.

”That was… a bit excessive,” he muttered under his breath.

”Excessive?” Ashy raised a brow feather. ”They took his tongue and crushed the pride of an entire clan. Iʼd say it was educational.”

Meng Bai, still slightly pale, clutched his formation scroll. ”I didnʼt know the temple had such strict enforcement.”

”Itʼs not just enforcement,” Lin Mu said quietly. ”Itʼs a message.”

A senior monk waiting inside stepped forward and bowed. ”Bearer, the elders request your presence at the Inner Pavilion. There is much to discuss following todayʼs incident.”

Lin Mu nodded. ”Lead the way.”

Lotus Prefecture – Mui Clan Main Hall

A cold, deathly silence blanketed the great hall of the Mui Clan. The flickering projection crystal finally dimmed, its last image lingering in everyoneʼs minds: Mui Ran, face crushed to the ground, tongue ripped from his mouth under the judgment of the Green Lotus Temple.

Elders sat rigidly around the jade table, their expressions pale, foreheads slick with cold sweat. Patriarch Mui Heng stood unmoving, one hand trembling ever so slightly as he clenched his prayer beads.

”No…” one of the elders whispered. ”They actually did it…”

”They mutilated the heir… in front of thousands… and not a single cultivator dared stop them.”

Another elder slammed his fist on the armrest—but it was hollow bravado. ”How… how dare they…”

”How can they,” someone corrected. ”That wasnʼt just a monkʼs doing. That was the Abbotʼs Heavenly Dhammakaya… the True Icon of Acala. Did you feel that pressure?”

”They didnʼt just punish Mui Ran. That was a warning to us all.”

The Mui Clan had existed for a long time, and had been connected to the Green Lotus Temple since its very foundation. They knew quite a lot about the temple, as well as its monks.

Among them, Abbot Tianzhu was pretty much a living legend.

The Abbot might be considered an amicable old grandpa at this point, but once upon a time he led a righteous war against the evil factions. He was one of the core reasons why the Silent Lotus World was so peaceful now.

The peace wasnʼt obtained in one day, it was bought with blood!

There was a great massacre!

The peaceful looking monks were once an army of wrathful arhats!

Most people might have forgotten the old history by now, but the Mui Clan certainly did not. And neither had the other powers of the Silent Lotus World.

Everything was well recorded within the annals of the Mui Clan, which served as a warning for the future generations. They had been warned long ago what would happen if the temple was ever offended.

Forget the Mui Clan, even the nearby kingdomʼs royal families would think twice before even speaking loudly in front of the abbot or elders like this. And this was just the kingdoms whose power was still tiny in front of the other true powerhouses of the Silent Lotus World.

The Xian Sword Sect and the Darkhan Empire had also sent their emisarries and talented members to the temple.

They too were standing in the line, just like Mui Ran.

But were they upset?

Were they impatient?

Did they try to speak up?

No!

They knew how to behave and would be willing to wait for years if it took them. For such was the respect that the Silent Lotus Temple commanded!

And it was well deserved, for the peace they enjoyed had been established by them in the first place.

If not for that, perhaps they might not be at the comfortable position they were today.

The weight of reality was undeniable. That day, it wasnʼt the pride of the Mui Clan that had been crushed—it was the very notion that they were untouchable under their noble name.

ʼI sent him to the temple so that he may learn... Temper his mind so that he may one day become a great clan leader. But now... Mui Ran has wrecked it all himself.ʼ The Patriarch thought to himself.

Patriarch Mui Heng slowly opened his eyes. His voice, though soft, cut through the panic like steel.

”From this moment onward… Mui Ran is no longer of our clan.”

The elders froze. Even the most hawkish among them turned to him in disbelief.

”But—Patriarch! Heʼs the heir! Our blood!”

”No longer,” Mui Heng said. ”The moment he insulted the bearer of the Calming Heart Sutra, he signed his fate. If we protect him now, the Temple will not only see us as accomplices—they will purge us.”

He turned to the aide beside him. ”Strip Mui Ran of all titles. Seal his name from the ancestral tablets. Deliver notice to the Prefecture Registry.”

”Yes, Patriarch.”

Another elder hesitated. ”Will… will that be enough?”

”No.” Mui Heng stared at the dormant projection crystal. ”We will send emissaries immediately. We will deliver an apology to the Green Lotus Temple, and we will offer reparations.”

”Reparations?”

”A tribute of immortal stones. A sacred relic from our vault. And a vow to support the templeʼs initiatives for the next hundred years. We will bend the knee before we are forced to.”

”And what if… they still demand punishment?” an elder whispered.

”Then we will accept it,” Mui Heng said grimly. ”Let it be me, if it comes to it. But if this clan is to survive, we must not be proud—we must be wise.”

No one spoke after that.

The Mui Clan, once proud among the nobles of the Lotus Prefecture, understood that the winds had changed. The heavens had made their will clear.

And the bearer of the White Jade Ruyi was not just a man—they had seen it in the image of Acala himself. He was Dharmaʼs chosen. To oppose him was to oppose the heavens.
