Walker Of The Worlds

Chapter 2695  Taking A Quick Inventory

Lin Mu ignored the voice of the tempter and returned his attention to the booklet. Even if he didnʼt have the necessary resources to practice the technique right away, there was no harm in studying it further. Perhaps he would find an alternative method to train in it or at least gain a deeper understanding of its principles. After all, knowledge was never wasted, and there was always a chance that he might stumble upon the required materials in the future.

An hour passed as he carefully analyzed every detail of the technique. He memorized each instruction, visualized every movement described, and tried to simulate the energy flow within his body. However, by the end of his study session, he had to admit that there was no way around it—Spectral Mirror Stones were an essential component.

ʼThe first step is to use the Spectral Mirror Stones to develop an affinity for creating specters,ʼ Lin Mu frowned, realizing he had hit a roadblock. It wasnʼt just about replicating speed and movement; the technique required a very specific interaction with the stones to manifest its true power. Without them, his training would remain incomplete, no matter how much he tried.

He let out a deep sigh. ”I suppose Iʼll have to put this aside for now.” He carefully stored the booklet away, making a mental note to revisit it once he had acquired the required materials. He was not one to abandon something valuable, and he was confident that sooner or later, he would find a way to obtain the Spectral Mirror Stones.

Shifting his focus, he turned back to the pile of items Elder Nui had left behind. If the elder had managed to find such a valuable technique, who knew what other treasures he might have hoarded? There was always the possibility that something else among his belongings would prove to be just as useful—perhaps even something that could help Lin Mu in his immediate journey.

”Letʼs see what else you were hiding,” Lin Mu muttered, his curiosity rekindled as he began rummaging through the elderʼs belongings. He opened the spatial ring and started examining the contents.

The Elder certainly had gathered a lot of wealth over time. Other than Immortal Stones and pills, Lin Mu found several bundles of talismans of various kinds, formation tools, as well as Immortal Weapons and tools. Each item held potential, but he needed to sort through them carefully to determine what was truly valuable to him.

”Oh, he has a high-grade Immortal Axe.” Lin Muʼs eyes were quickly drawn to the weapon. It was shaped like a common woodcutterʼs axe but had hundreds of runes carved into its handle and blade. A distinct energy emanated from it, confirming that it was no ordinary weapon. At the back of the blade, he could see its name inscribed.

”Lake Splitter.” Lin Mu read the name aloud.

He reached out and gripped the axe, feeling a faint resistance from it. As expected, it had not yet accepted him as its new master.

He used his Immortal Sense to probe the weapon, but it rejected him, preventing his deeper investigation.

”So it still has loyalty to its old master.” Lin Mu chuckled. This was a common property of Immortal Weapons. The stronger and more refined a weapon was, the more attached it became to its wielder. Even if one stole or looted such a weapon, it would take a long time to win over its allegiance.

ʼThis mustʼve been used by him for a long time for it to act like this.ʼ Lin Mu thought to himself. A weapon like this would not submit easily.

With a slight shrug, he stored the axe into his ring. He had no use for it now, and while he knew how to wield an axe, it wasnʼt his preferred weapon. He already possessed powerful weapons that suited his fighting style far better.

”The others should be a lot more accepting.” Lin Mu reckoned and checked the rest.

The Elder had another, smaller axe—a hatchet. This one was a Mid-Grade Immortal Weapon and looked rather new. Unlike the Lake Splitter, it did not have any runes on it, which meant it was a pure refinement-type weapon.

He probed it with his Immortal Sense and met some resistance, but a few minutes of focused effort was all it took for Lin Mu to erase Elder Nuiʼs imprint on it.

ʼTiger Break Hatchet…ʼ Lin Mu learned of its name. ʼThis should be good as a spare throwing weapon.ʼ He thought before storing it away as well.

Since it was a pure refinement-type immortal weapon, it had no innate skills. However, it was still a sturdy and sharp weapon, ideal for swift attacks or last-minute defenses.

The other two Immortal Weapons the Elder had were a whip, which was a Low-Grade Immortal Weapon, and a simple sword of the same grade. Lin Mu simply erased Elder Nuiʼs imprint on them and stored them away as well. He already had plenty of such weapons in his possession, so he didnʼt pay much attention to them.

The Immortal Tools, on the other hand, caught his interest more. Among them was a Formation Brush of Low Grade and a Carving Knife of Mid Grade.

ʼLooks like he was a decent Formation Master as well.ʼ Lin Mu thought as he examined the tools. A formation brush was useful for inscribing array patterns quickly, while a carving knife allowed for precision in crafting talismans or setting up formations. These would be useful for future endeavors, so he decided to keep them.

This was the extent of what was kept in the elderʼs ring, though Lin Mu was sure this wasnʼt the full extent of his wealth.

ʼHe probably has more storage tools or a vault at the sect.ʼ Lin Mu reasoned.

After all, keeping all of oneʼs wealth in one place was not the wisest decision. Any cautious cultivator would have multiple places to store their valuables in case of emergencies.
