Chapter 2665  Setting Up Camp And Starting A Lesson

Meng Bai explained, ”This is where the hunters set up camp when they hunt the beasts here. It should be good enough for us, I think.”

Lin Mu nodded, his mind already calculating the next steps. This place was well-hidden and defensible, yet open enough for their needs. A small smile formed on his lips.

”Yes,” he agreed. ”This will do nicely.”

While he wasnʼt worried about beast attacks, he still didnʼt wish to be disturbed when they were in the middle of something important. He knew how vital focus was to a Formation Master when working and how much damage distractions could cause. Even the smallest lapse in concentration could lead to miscalculations, potentially ruining an entire formation.

As such, he didnʼt want anything like that to happen while he was teaching Meng Bai.

”How do we set up camp?” Meng Bai asked curiously. ”Tents?” he wondered aloud.

He knew that since Lin Mu was an immortal, he was likely carrying things inside his spatial storage tools. Many cultivators spent extended periods in the wild, so carrying camping equipment was common. However, what Lin Mu did next took Meng Bai by complete surprise.

”Better,” Lin Mu simply said.

Meng Bai was not prepared for the kind of ”camping” that Lin Mu was about to do.

The man began taking out pillar after pillar until there were sixteen of them. These pillars were made of solid rock and looked as though they had been carved by an expert craftsman. Their surfaces were smooth, devoid of cracks, and perfectly rectangular on each side. The sheer precision of their craftsmanship made Meng Bai wonder whether they had been sculpted by hand or conjured through some mystical means.

Lin Mu placed the pillars down according to the plan in his mind.

First, he used four pillars to set the four corners of a room, then used another four to form an adjacent room. The final eight pillars were used for a large hall that took up nearly all the remaining space. But even after arranging them, he wasnʼt done yet.

Floating up, Lin Mu clenched his fist and slammed it down onto the pillars.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Each impact sent powerful tremors through the ground, embedding the pillars deep into the earth, making them immovable.

Meng Bai, who had been watching in awe, found himself unable to stay standing. The sheer force of the tremors was enough to make him lose his balance. Stumbling back, he sat down in shock.

ʼJust how strong is he?ʼ Meng Bai couldnʼt help but wonder. ʼThat didnʼt even seem to be a Qi skill.ʼ

To him, it looked like nothing but raw, overwhelming strength. He could only watch in silence as Lin Mu displayed his sheer might.

Next, Lin Mu took out massive slabs of rock and placed them atop the pillars to form the ceiling. To prevent the slabs from shifting, he took out multiple metal rods, each an inch thick and about two meters long. Then, like a blacksmith, he hammered the rods through the slabs and into the pillars, using them like enormous nails.

After securing the ceiling, he took out more rock slabs to form the walls of the rooms and hall, fastening them with the same metal rods.

Then, with a swift motion, Lin Mu drew out Afternoon Pine, making Meng Baiʼs eyes widen.

”An Immortal Sword?” Meng Bai immediately recognized its quality.

”Indeed,” Lin Mu confirmed. ”This is Afternoon Pine.”

SHING! SHING! SHING!

Without hesitation, Lin Mu slashed at the walls.

THUD! THUD! THUD! THUD!

Windows and doors were carved effortlessly into the stone, completing the basic structure in mere moments.

Meng Bai stared in shock.

”This... this is no longer setting up camp,” he muttered in disbelief. ”This is creating a house!”

”Itʼll be more convenient for us,” Lin Mu said nonchalantly, still holding Afternoon Pine. ”But itʼs not finished yet.”

”Still not done?” Meng Bai wondered what else could possibly be left.

”You better observe this closely,” Lin Mu advised, as he began carving symbols into the walls with Afternoon Pine.

Meng Baiʼs eyes widened again.

”These... Runes!” he exclaimed. ”Youʼre adding formations?”

”Indeed.”

He continued watching as Lin Mu etched rune after rune into the walls. Each stroke was executed with perfect precision and carried a certain grace. It was as though Lin Mu was wielding a brush rather than a sword. The once-imposing rock accepted the runes as effortlessly as parchment absorbs ink.

Knowing that this was a priceless opportunity, Meng Bai focused all his attention.

A few minutes later, Lin Mu finished one of the walls.

HUALA!

The runes glowed faintly, and waves of Qi fluctuations pulsed through the air. Meng Bai could feel them as clearly as ripples in water, the energy exuding from them powerful enough to make any cultivator take a step back.

Meng Bai couldnʼt help but recall the common saying: ”Making formations is as straightforward as scratching runes into stone.” What Lin Mu was doing was the literal embodiment of that expression.

Lin Mu turned to Meng Bai.

”Now then, can you tell me what formation this is?” he questioned.

Meng Bai took a deep breath.

”Iʼll try,” he said as he stepped closer, eyes scanning the runes.

There were around a hundred runes on a single wall, meaning it wasnʼt overly complex. Still, he took his time, deciphering each rune carefully. Lin Mu had carved something simple but highly effective.

Ten minutes later, Meng Bai finally had his answer.

”This is a Reinforcing Formation,” he declared.

Lin Mu nodded in approval.

”Correct.”

Meng Baiʼs brows furrowed slightly.

”But… this isnʼt the basic version,” he continued. ”Youʼve modified the peripheral nodes and expanded them further.”

Lin Mu smiled.

”Go on,” he encouraged.

Meng Bai focused, analyzing the intricate modifications.

”Expanding the peripheral nodes allows the Qi to flow in a more diluted form,” Meng Bai reasoned. ”But… that isnʼt necessarily the best method, is it?” he asked hesitantly.

Lin Muʼs smile deepened.

Meng Bai was on the right path. Now, it was time to see if he could uncover the full purpose of the modified formation.
